  The idea of making the use of internet a disfellowshipping offense will have a reverse effect on a vast number. "What are they hiding?

  That cannot work for at least two reasons. The first of which, it would IMPOSSIBLE for the WT to directly make internet usage a disfellowshipping offense, because there is nothing "scriptually" wrong with using information sources such as the internet, in itself. They could indirectly tie it to something along the lines of "causing divisions", "apostacy", etc, but even then, WHERE a person went on the internet would be the issue, not the fact that they logged on in the first place. Outside of clearly drawing the lines of what is considered OK, and what isn't, it could never be enforced. The WT does not have the ablility to police the situation like that.

  Secondly, IF somehow they DID manage to get past reason #1, anyone in the organization who is not labotamized would have enough presence of mind, (hopefully), to seriously question HOW the WT could even suggest such a thing, and the org could only expect people to leave in droves on that basis.

  nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

  in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

  there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

  WTF, like yourself, I was not "there" in 1975. My family came into the org around 1978 or so, (I was 5). During the next 13 years, I never heard anything regarding 1975. A good older friend of mine, (at the time, kinda like a second father), told me about the whole 1975 debacle around 1990 or 91. I found it very hard to believe, even though, I knew he was a very reliable source. I did some research, and found some of the articles mentioned here, (although I wish I found the May '74 KM then). Unfortunately, I decided to write it off as a misundrstanding on the r&f's part, as a good jw.

  That said, what never sat right with me about the whole thing, was the fact that I never even heard about this for my first 13 years in the org. With 1978 so close to 1975, I would have thought my family would have heard something about this...NOTHING. This was conspicuous by its absence. It was as if, this was such a dark period in the organization's history, that no one dare mention it. Most jws who have come into the org since then, know little or nothing about 1975. The whole thing seemed rather dishonest in nature. This drew a red flag with me years ago, and was the first real "doubt" about the organization that I had, although it would take almost 15 years for me to finally leave.

  This particular subject is of special interest to me, as I see it as a very good warning example for anyone contemplating joining the jws. IF they know the facts about '75, most who would otherwise join, won't.

  Face it Birdy, claiming the WT never said that the system would end in 1975 is being intellectually dishonest. True, those WORDS may not have been said, but all of the implication, innuendo, and encouragement of the r&f to think that way was accepted by the WT. Then when it failed to happen, they went and put the blame on the same r&f for thinking that way. Very, very wrong.

  i was reading a little coc last night where ray f. disusses the witch hunt at bethel that resulted in all the oustings.

  as i read the doctrines that he questioned, (not judging him right or wrong), i noticed that he was questioning some of the fundamental beliefs of the wt.

  His "cause" was to collect minions that would satisfy that craving for power that he could no longer have quenched by being on the GB.

  You know, I'm not one to like to rally around someone who writes a book or two, but my PERSONAL dealing with Ray Franz, (via email, letters etc), confirms he is an upstanding guy. Your "opinon" on Franz is utterly false.

  Besides, why don't you get a handle I can actually remember when I go to type a reply.

  i had a "free" bible study with 2 dubs a few months ago, they tried their usual sales pitch, and badmouth my pastor and my church and beliefs, in general.

  after the older guy did that, i stood up and left.

  8 months passed, and i ran him to him again at a superstore last week, spewing his same crap.

  Only the most intelligent jws will ever be able to get out. Stupid and half-smart people are usually lost for life.

  I really beginnning to see the truth of that statement. My elder buddy is a pretty smart guy, who can't refute, (and even agrees with), most of what I tell him, yet still he would rather "just wait on Jehovah".

  I dunno, W.Once. What I do know is that the GB, (as individual members), do hold to individual ideas. If those ideas never get voted in, that does not necessairly mean that they change their minds as individuals. I stated here before, that I knew Dan Sydlik somewhat, and I can say FOR SURE, that he had his own ideas about some/many things. The rest of the GB are not going to "go after" a member for holding those ideas, so as long the opposing idea is kept a "personal" view. I didn't get the impression that Ray was particularly open about his views, outside of a small circle, perhaps, so maybe he was truly shocked by the reaction he received by the rest of the GB.

  How Would You Explain The Stupidity Of The Blood Doctrine?

  it seems like the witnesses are going to be told that they they now can take blood---at least some of it!

  i asked my mom a few minutes ago if she would take blood fractions and she said "no!".

  i gave her a head's up on what to expect from the new km.

  However, one SHOULD be able to figure out the WTS is full of shit on this one.

  i have just put together a table with percentages that highlights quite simply what a jw can and can not have.

  the wts does not present it in this simple format, as graphically it is quite obvious how senseless their stand is.

  could this article be a protection for the borg against the tort of misrepresentation?

  all of a sudden, they seem to want to be sure and inform the dubs about all of their options.

  also, it is interesting that the consequences of the refusal of each fraction is explained more openly than i have ever seen before.. what do you think?.

  The recent changes, (confusion), in the blood doctrine was definately one of the things that got me thinking all was not well in dub land before I left. I didn't see how anyone could possibly make an informed decision based on the information provided. The truth is, you can't. Most of what is considered a "conscience" decision is no less blood than blood itself, (i.e. contains red, white blood cells, or plasma). There is an obvious contradiction here, and the WTS has managed to work themselves into a corner with this one.

  Well, I remember at one of the New York 8 day assemblies, they announced that some of the "Princes" would be there and everyone was so anticipating and excited. Turned out to be the Elders were the Princes. What a disappointment.

  It those types of announcements that we really all should have done a double take on years ago. Amazing.
