once i entered that profound place in my head (while in federal prison) when everything got serious.....i entered a secret room, so to speak, where.
all the mysteries were hidden!.
Many old timers are not ignorant...they know that after 140 years of changing doctrines that the religion is a joke but for many it's impossible to leave.
The investment in the religion is just too much and the consequences of leaving would be too much to bear.
Like millions of JW's they will die in the religion.

What i noticed about the JWs, the ones born in the religion were very ignorant of the doctrines and were not able to turn to the scriptures and prove what they believed.
Very embarassing when i would go on a bible study with someone, even an elder, that was born as a JW, and a question was asked about hell, trinity,other sheep and so on they would be lost and had to rely primarily on the publication being studied.
And that's the reason why many stay in the religion because they are too lazy to question what they believe...BRAINWASHED as i was for 32 years.
so i've heard lots of talk from within about the 'new light' in this watchtower...i'm yet to look at it in any detail.
i'm kind of surprised actually...i first heard about it here before it was even available but close to the time it did come out people started bringing it up - even our co.. some say things like "have you heard about this?
" or "big changes," or "allot of things they said we believed, i didn't realize,"(lots of that) or "brain-overload" or " too much information, but i've never felt more pumped up" or "it's soo exciting to see jehovah's spirit lead his organization..." or "it requires time to sink in, but it's a good feeling!
Ask them " What is the purpose of Jehovah keeping this new light or understanding hidden for over 90 years" ?
What purpose did it serve?
So glad i don't have to play the game of keeping my mouth shut when i knew all of doctrines didn't make any sense.
how do you think the wtb&ts (and the average jw) would answer the following two questions?
how would you answer them?.
(1) can one be a genuine christian without being a jw?.
1) No, you cannot be a genuine Christian unless you are a baptized JW and be part of "God's organization" and be active in service and meetings.
2) Yes, you can be exemplary in the congregation just by making all the meetings and turning in a 10 hour report every month.
I think that's what a JW would have to answer according to what we know about the Watchtower
Being genuine Christian cannot be proven or seen by the outward appearance.

my wife and i are atheists, raised and living as jehovah's witnesses.
The conclusion of the matter could be that Jehovah, just like all the other god's of the nations past and present are just made up and so is the bible, a book written by men with some moral wisdom and some ugly stuff as discussed above.

we have an older very faithfull elder body and whenever they talk about armegeddon or the end of this system of thiings, they always use "very near, close, soon, etc".
well on the stage one elder when talking about the great tribuation this week , he said "possibly in our lifetime" !!!
that really caught my attention and even my wife's too!
Most JW's are not stupid, down deep in their hearts they know something is wrong with the watchtower doctrines.
Changing doctrines and promises of a New Earth from way back 1870 did not materialize, one by one old timers are dying off.
The problem is that most would not dare to express their doubts and continue to live in "fantasy Land" of the cult.
my mother asked me if i was thinking about it and how bad it will be in the near future.
i said i didn't give it a thought.. is it something you ever think about, now?.

i'm almost a year out of high school and of course, i'm not in college.
i'm a pioneer (sigh) with little to no work experience and having a really hard time finding any work.
i want to go back to college, but it's going to be difficult now that i'm a pioneer, and my parents cannot really afford the loans that will incur should i pursue going to college.
If your parents try to discourage you from stopping pioneering because the "end is near", remind them that the society has been saying that since
1870.
Just met a retired witness couple that have pioneered all their lives and now their Social Security income is less than a $1000 dollar a month and
receiving $280 in food stamp a month........... very sad situation to be in.
Do not wait, get an education.
