When we were raising funds for our new KH, we were told we could have a bake sale, yard sale whatever we wanted but we couldn't say it was for the KH. It was like you have a yard sale and you can use the money however you wanted. You couldn't call it a KH yard sale. Looks like they don't care where the money is coming from.

A SPIRIT OF REBELLION or PROPER ATTITUDE---WHICH?
by Terry inthere is a catch-22 that can trip you up at the local kingdom hall.
if you receive "counsel" from an elder about any behavior at all and you "resist" or question the counsel you can be accused of having a "spirit of rebellion".
so, you have to either shut up and comply (with even the most ludicrous and ill-founded suggestions) or answer back and be chastised and "marked".

When John 13:35 pricks a Dub's conscience...
by Inquisitor in(1)how many of you out there, back when you were still a jw, heard the bros say "yeah the cong is a little cold cos of <insert scapegoat here>, but there is genuine love among the country congs/ the foreign lang congs etc??
(2)how did you respond to that remark?
did you accept that concession or did the absence of unpretentious love in your cong continue to bother you?

We used to have a loving cong. when I was a kid. But then all these moveins came and the whole atmosphere changed. A lot of people had trouble in their halls, and since we live in the beautiful mountains of NC, people moved in bringing their problems to us. How nice. Lots of elders with issues have moved in and totally ruined our hall.

I'm going to get out
by Sacchiel inhey everyone, i've been examining my faith and found it doesn't stand up to biblical theology.
its going to be hard since a lot family and friends will very likely repudiate me.
i have taken some steps to introduce topics to my family that will get them to analyze the wt teachings.

I am fading away as we speak. So far so good. My parents (I'm the only kid) were taking it pretty hard. I just told them I am too busy with school and work. I told Mom I just didn't want to go to meetings anymore. She thinks I'm just going through a phase. I haven't been contacted by the elders yet. I think I'll decline any visits. My dad is an elder if I need encouragement I'll tell them I will go to him if I think I need to. Mom is coming over tomorrow with the new book from the convention, kinda dreading it. This is the first convention I've ever missed in my life.
So far the fading away is working. I don't think I'll even suggest that I'm having doubts.

why weren't they preaching and teaching jehovah's kingdom and all that.

I too have a question about the annointed and GB. If the GB is suppose to represent the 144,000, why are all of them English speaking men? If they are supposed to represent an international group why is all white guys? Has there been a black brother in the GB?

they don't know what they are talking about.
if they read with an open mind the carry-ons of this cruel mesopotanian god they would feel ridiculous and embarrassed for putting this god before their family, their children.

They love going to meetings..
That's a crock! How can you just sit there year after year listening to the same talk over and over and actually enjoy it?? The poor little kids having to sit there at 9 o'clock at night, and if they move around a little too much they go outside to get a spanking so loud you can hear inside the building.

Finally going to college...
by Justice-One ineven though "the end" is so close you could reach out and "touch it with your tonge" i'm going to get my degree.
i have been inactive for more than ten years, but because of the wife i still go to church (i just can't call it "the hall" anymore, at least in my heart) on sundays from time to time.
and guess what, when i mentioned that i was going to go to college, i was asked why i would want to do that?

Good for you justice!!! I have almost graduated from college and I can see that it's the best thing I could have done. In my old KH the elders would rather you be poor on welfare and food stamps from the government, as long as you were pioneering you were fine. I think about how little the Society puts on education. A lot of friends here have homeschooled their kids and some of them are teenagers and they can harder read. Very sad.
