i was told by a reliable source that the organization will be making a "big announcement" at the end of the summer when all the dcs have ended.
has anyone else heard this?
maybe this is the "new light" they have alluded to in recent wt study articles?
It still amazes me that the rank and file dub thinks that the old geezers in Brooklyn actually get to 'communicate' something with Jehovah FIRST before it gets passed down to the congregations.......something new, something special, ooooohhh!! Maybe a new tract!!! (I just won't be able to sleep tonight!)
This is probably just some business arrangement change, that more than likely will save them some $$............ if anything at all. GYMBB

There are so many different people and personalities it's hard to say which is the best way to approach a dub with "logical" thoughts regarding their beliefs that simply make no sense. Depending on how long they've been in the org., they really aren't used to it (independant thinking remember?).
I've been pondering this myself for awhile, I have a sister that i'd like to help see the truth about the 'Truth'. Sometimes you just want slap 'em, (but that probably wouldn't go over well).
My ex-wife and I had a few 'discussions' about the same way after I DA'd and
before she filed for divorce.....
Me: "How are you going to explain going to our daughter's wedding (she's faded) when she's getting married in a church?"
Ex-wife: "Witnesses can do that".
Me: "Since when? And if that's true, WHY are you trying to TALK HER OUT OF getting married in the church that she's been baptized in, and REGULARLY ATTENDS??"
Ex-wife: "I'm not suppose to talk to you about spiritual matters!" She turns and walks away.....

on sunday of the dc i was waiting outside for my wife (because i had no desire to enter).
we started toward the car as soon as she exited the building.. as we walked, i overheard one elderly sister saying to another elderly sister, "see?

So, how do you soften the blow that they live in a fantasyworld? Although somewhat smaller, there's another generation of dubs coming along too.....who's going to be around to soften the blow to them, and the next, and the next, etc.? It's not the first christian-like religion to come along and die out in a hundred years or so after so many unfulfilled prophecies. GYMBB

mine.... i was about 10 years old, working with one of the pioneers in our hall, and we came across a gentleman that screamed obcenities at us and threatened to kill us unless we left his porch.
i wet my pants.
the pioneer i was with told me that i was a 'weak little witness that brought shame to jehovah for wetting my pants,' and that my punishment would be finishing out the morning's service with wet, piss stained pants.. it was february in toronto.
The very first day, FIRST DOOR I went to as a bethelite in Brooklyn in 1976, the householder was doing some brick work on his porch, and with a real strong Italian accent he said, "I'm gonna putta' thisa' bricka' righta' thru yo' face!!" and then chased us down the street with a brick in one hand and a trowel in the other!
A couple years later the jewish neighborhood we went to in Brooklyn formed a mob and turned over a couple witness cars! It was actually reported in the Watchtower, "Watching the world"(sometime in 78' I think) There were a few of the local bro's that got their asses kicked pretty good too, right there in Brooklyn! Not me tho'....I boogied out to the subway and my roommate was driven back to bethel by the police. GYMBB
my friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!
she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.
actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.
Your friend Marion sounds like a smart gal and handled the PO perfectly, however, he doesn't sound like the kind of guy that's going to give-up easy. From my experience, these guys just don't like it when you don't play 'right', that is, recognize that THEY'RE suppose to be in control, not you.
But, sometimes they get busy and just go away. My kids faded 3 years ago and they never hear a thing from any JW. GYMBB

i found the dc very interesting this year do to my reading of this site.
i took note that the danger of the internet was menitioned no less than three times, once with a demonstration showing a brother who found a site by a innocent search of the web on a jw subject to the very last talk, concluding remarks and final "resolution" that consisted of 10 items with number 10 staying away from dangerous sites and chat rooms.. makes you wonder what the real story is behind that much attention being given to this problem iof theirs.. oc
One of the real problems I saw with the organization (in the magazines or in the talks) was that it needs to 'put-up or shut-up', it NEVER comes out and says, "This is what apostates are saying, and THIS is why it's false...." The reason why they don't, is because they CAN'T! They're trying to defend a position that's undefendable, and it's the bases for making the DA rule. Hell, they don't even try to defend it with the scriptures. Just, "DON'T READ APOSTATE LITERATURE OR TALK TO THEM".
It's like some little guy who always comes down to the local basketball court talking about how he can beat anybody one-on-one, but he NEVER DOES! he just keeps saying he can, and eventially, nobody pays attention to him anymore.
If you got game Brooklyn, BRING IT! (Let's TALK about it!) Otherwise shut-up and stay on the porch. GYMBB
Athanasius: Good job! Too funny also! I was thinking of a response like that...something like, "Oh, I go down to the local Neighborhood Church, that's where I go to meet with my spiritual brother's and sister's now.....I love it!" What are they going to say, "no you REALLY don't?" GYMBB
no, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.
This article should no doubt have some unbelievable scripture twists, along with alot of BS to make any loyal dub feel real guilty if they ever miss, or want to talk to a friend or relative who just couldn't buy into it anymore. Can you imagine HOW MANY PEOPLE THIS WILL HIT REAL CLOSE TO HOME WITH? Sad to say...most will accept it. GYMBB
