Have you ever been marked?
by Dustin inwhen i first met my wife, she was not a jw.
i was baptized at the age of 12. to make a long story short, some of the other youths in the congregation followed my lead and took non jw boyfriends and girlfriends.
well the brothers decided to point me out specifically as i was the only one who cared.

Did you ever get a W (Work needed) on a talk?
by desib77 insomeone mentioned this in one of their posts and i had a flashback.
i remember getting a w on one of my theocratic school talks when i was working on gesturing.
the funny thing about it is that it was given to me by my dad!

I used to be in every stage production in school and college but HATED talks with a passion. Howcome the females always had to go in pairs? Maybe some ex-elder can explain that, but it's probably 'cause we'se second class citizens.
My last talk ever I will always remember. I was the "householder." Some stupid ass sister had the cards all ready for me to read from as soon as I "opened" the door. Of course, I was to be skeptical at first, but before the time was up, I was a true convert. Anyway, I thought it would be amusing to try something different. After going through the whole thing, I was supposed to say, yes, I would be interested in a bible study or something. Instead I said, you know, I'm really not interested, I have to go now. Well, I think that pretty much sealed my fate.
One time I got a W on something and I wrote What the #*%&???? My mother saw it. I think that pretty much ended my ministry school career.

School and quitting
by shera inwhat would you say to a teen who hates school and wants to quit?
please be serious and i would like caring replys please.thanks!

Shera,
Take advantage of the education that is offered to you and don't be in a hurry to be an adult...believe me, that will come whether you want it or not. Four years of college may not be for everyone, but there are trades that you can look into that don't require the grades, time and money. It is simply not enought to have your GED nowadays. My advice to you would be to visit your guidance counselor and discuss what your options are and DO NOT LET talk of impending Armegeddon doom and gloom hold you back in any way. If I had taken that seriously, I would be a 35 year old waitress, tired off her feet and haggard instead of the profession I hold today with very good wages.
Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Did you have a relationship with your friend Jehovah?
by Nosferatu ini remember watching that young people ask video "how can i make real friends".
they were saying that jehovah can be your best friend, and you have to view him as a real person.. even when i was a jw, i could never buy into this crap.
how can you develope a relationship if there's only communication one way?

All I know is that if the Big J was my friend and all in control of everything, I wouldn't have been so tormented, picked on, and slapped around by other kids on an almost daily basis in middle school because of what "I was."
Jehovah was never real to me, even though I was born into "the truth." He always seemed angry and disapproving of everything anybody did and came across as rather arrogant in the scriptures. A JW friend of mine recently gave me the new publication Draw Close to Jah and browsing through it out of interest, I can see it's still the same old bunk that was forced on me for many years. My friend insists that it's not the organization or the people (hmmm..thought the saying was JW was a perfect organization) but you relationship with Jah. That being said, I counter the question of if that's indeed right, why insisted that the JWs are the only right religion? The old argument I always use is there's many ways to get somewhere, just depends on the route you take.
Has anyone seen the new publication Draw Close yet? Perhaps I'll share with you some of the ridiculous comments.

I just received this email...it struck me as very funny
by Wolfgirl in*****power of prayer enjoy this and know you are in good hands..... this is quite a story... goose bump type.
diane, a young university student, was home for the summer.
she had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year.

Okay...I heard the same story when I was growing up as a JW but it had a slight twist...
The woman was alone in field service and some weirdo demon possessed man answers the door and she says her thing and goes. And then some other person NOT a JW goes to the door never to be seen alive again.
When asked about why he didn't attack the JW he said there were two men with her. Hmmmmmmmm....I totally believe in the power of miracles but this is just like one of their alleged stories!

Has anyone seen the article, Young People Ask., Do I need a mobile phone?
by laylaluv inhas anyone seen the article, young people ask........do i need a mobile phone?
this is on the home page of the society.
jesus stated the wise principle that one should "calculate the expense" before undertaking an important project.

Well, who needs a mobile phone when you can talk to Jehovah for free? (Was that mentioned in the article??)
If mobiles were around in Jesus' day, you'd bet he'd probably have one plus 11 calling plans for all his disciples.

How about "Tumor Teddy." This was a disgusting, thin, ugly man in his early 30's at the time who had huge bumps all over his face, hands and arms, so my best friend (Barbara King..miss you!!) nicknamed him such. He was really gross. He was fairly "new" to the truth and fancied himself as a DJ and would always try to land JW wedding gigs but that wasn't lucrative, as you may imagine. He resided with a very old lady in her basement, her name was Elsie, and my mother brought her into "the truth." Unfortunately my bedroom window was only about 500 yards from the back of Elsie's house and basement, and I caught the dirty old bugger watching me one time with binoculars. Still makes my skin crawl.....EEEEKK!
I can think of more, lots more...
