If I ever got mentioned in a local needs, I don't know. But I do remember being the scapegoat for the "Halo-gate" at my hall, where wouldn't you know it, the "ringleader" of the Halo kids wasn't even there that night.

"Local Needs" Talks: The people who should really hear them are never there.
by Open mind inmy whole life as a jw i've heard this refrain.
"too bad so-and-so wasn't here for that local needs talk.".
as an elder i would have a hard time putting my heart into writing up a local needs talk that was targeting one or two congregation members, knowing full well they probably wouldn't be there to hear it.. .

Sometimes You Just Gotta Score One For the Cult Members
by PublishingCult ini really don't care much for jw's at my door, or at anyone's door.
this chauvinistic, fanatical bully-a-hole, however, is one of the worst examples of a christian i have ever seen.
the jw's handled themselves very well in the face of this ridiculous bullying and taunting by this so-called christian attempting to school the jw's about god and the bible.

I'd call Mr. Pleasant Preacher a chauvanistic pig, but pigs are more noble than that man. He revels in being a bully, and running his house like a dictator. I despise everything that he stands for.
If he wants to refute the JWs, that's fine, but telling people that they are damned is offensive. It doesn't garner support for what he does, but at any rate, he seems to enjoy being hated more than liked.
The biggest mistake those dubs made was to trot out the membership numbers. MPP got right on that. They also should have left immediately, but the last guy made it hard for them.
It's too bad they'd never met this guy before. If I ever saw MPP, I'd just turn around and go away...don't even bother.

What if... The Governing Body promoted online preaching
by pirata inimagine this scenario:.
step 1) the governing body produces a brochure entitled: "addressing misconceptions about jehovah's witnesses".
it brings all the apostate arguments out of the woodwork and addresses them (whether or not the answers make sense doesn't really matter).

I think the net effect would be the greatest decision the GB ever made. Imagine a bunch of tech-savvy young people with doubts, now sparring with experienced ex-JWs online. Oh man. If they thought they had a problem keeping the young people in before, just wait until all of them are hit with information about the org that they never knew about before!

I feel so alone here...
by Pams girl inthanks to all who helped me escape my imminemt baptism after 6 years of study.
it was a close call.. ive clearly been labelled spirituallly weak, as nobody has called here to say hi or anything and its been 2 monthes now....their divine justice for me i guess.
i did see my study teacher a while back when she dropped off my memorial invite, and that was after a chat, nothing to do with the wbts...seemed like it was an afterthought on her part.. they all know about my problems with agoraphobia and panic.

They already successfully isolated me from my many good friends "wordly"...and some family. Now I feel like a boat bobbing around cast at sea....
Ive lost all I had, and for what? Im worse off and more lonely than ever, I dont know what to do....
At my worst point in dub indoctrination, I stopped answering my friends' phone calls. I felt it was the only way to be a better dub. But when my eyes were opened, I knew I had to come back and apologize for being a jerk. Surprisingly, it worked, and we've been back on greater terms since then.
The bottom line is that if they're really good friends, they may be able to forgive you.
If you were near San Diego, I wouldn't mind hanging out, but you'd probably feel weird for hanging out with someone younger than yourself.

Interesting. I contacted their church to see why they filed a DMCA claim against askegg, the guy who made the first video. What you guys are seeing is a mirror.
They got back to me, and told me that they were just looking to protect their online sermons. Their terms of use prohibits anyone using the footage without prior consent. They claimed they wanted to do it because people kept taking Schaap's sermons "out of context." So then I asked them to explain the discrepancy between Schaap's apparent nonconcern about being quoted or featured with the directive to shut down these unauthorized videos.
They never got back to me.

WT Is Losing Its Best and Brightest
by snowbird inthey are hemorrhaging the creme de la creme, as it were, and a lot of those thinking ones are coming to jwn.. no wonder there are so many warnings against surfing the 'net.. syl.

I don't think it was ever their design to have the best and brightest, just the most pliable and ignorant. Thinking only needs to be done by a select few; the rest can just shuffle along without putting up much resistance.

JWN Is Not The Same Place It Was Years Ago . . .
by PublishingCult intd made the following statement over in another thread, and so i thought it would make a good topic of its own.. jwn is not the same place it was years ago and years from now, it won't be the same place as it is today.. how has jwn changed over the years, old timers?

Back in mid-2006 when I joined (or perhaps a little earlier from lurking), I can recall that there seemed to be more JW apologist trolls like scholar and Fred something. I loved seeing them get pounded into the dirt by Leolaia, et al., but it seemed like they just wouldn't ever get a clue and go away. The thrill of participating on a board full of ex-JWs was still fresh. I was pretty well addicted to it.
The covert stuff like the elders' manual was fun. Who revealed it? Some tatted kid named Richie Rich, was it? I remember him doing that and then leaving in a huff because he got pissed over something. I was sad to see him go.

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

Those points fit me quite well. I remember times when I'd be upset with something, and people would always come around to try and make me feel better...well...the one thing that always works is when someone else GOES AWAY for awhile while I deal with things. There are certain times when I just really don't like to be pestered.

I hated the violence, and my first thought was that the people in the hall probably went home and talked about how they are persecuted because they have the truth. Totally counter productive.
Exactly...if the VMRO wants to protest, they should do it peacefully. Don't assault them, that just makes them look like victims, which is what JWs want! What n00bs!
