What a rat. I'm glad that office manager got canned and that she stood up to the Org.
Heck, drinking a Roofie Colada and waking up the next day in someone else's pad is punishment enough.

DeIndoctrination

I agree that it has to be someone who is still in the Org, but mentally gone. Like myself. My goals are to talk about the child abuse cases and the other controversies (1975, Mexico/Malawi), and to give people relief outside of the publications and books.
Just enough to plant a seed. There are some intelligent people in my congregation, and at least one is my friend, but they need to learn to think for themselves. Case in point: the P.O. in my hall, in his prayers, often says that now is "the last hour of the last day." I was disturbed when I heard that. Wasn't 1925 the last hour? Then 1975? I can't confront the P.O. about it, but I asked my friend how he felt about it. "Well it's obviously the last hour because we can tell..." and he just trailed off. I could see the conflict in his mind. Something doesn't add up to him. When the chance comes to talk about it again, I will do more work on that.
Only mentally freed persons in the Org can influence others to escape it. -

Insensitive talk assignments
by Steve Lowry ini once was assigned a talk on masturbation when i was about fifteen or so.
the theme of the talk was to discourage masturbating (actually to forbid the practice), as it was considered by the society a no no.
looking back on it, it offends me to this day that they would give a kid such a sensitive and embarrassing talk assignment like that.

There needs to be council from the Org about that. In my hall, they wouldn't give a marriage talk to a kid, but it seems this is a recurring problem in other congregations. Not that it will ever come about...I just don't want anyone to have to go through that embarrassment...

another life gone
by darth frosty inthis past thurs a young brother ended his life.
in writing he stated that he could not live up to the demands placed on him.
i am quite sure that all the local witnesses will hear about this and think what they are programed to think: we need the new system.

Another life lost to the Pharisaic demands of the Org. Only, he didn't bleed to death in a hospital, so he gets no magazine cover.
I will be praying for him. I hope I don't end up like him in 3 years...
Did he have any known mental illness? Or was being in the Org the only causal factor in his suicide? -

The donation arrangement for the literature came about because of a decision on Jimmy Swaggart's ministry.

Another lawsuit... this one in Oregon.
by Elsewhere incomplaint: negligence, breach of confidential relationship, intentional infliction of severe emotional distress.
once again the elders appointed a convicted and confessed child molester to a position of responsibility as an officer and ministerial servant of the congregation.
this time the accused name is jerry anderson crabb of the lancaster congregation of jehovah's witnesses - 4795 macleay road se, salem, or 97301. sadly, as one would expect, he has been accused of sexually abusing a child on multiple occasions.
-
SirNose586
Oh, but wasn't Crabb appointed by Jehovah's spirit though??
I really hate that little comment. When I was made an MS about a month ago, I kept hearing that. It bothered the hell out of me--I was appointed by company men; by a rubberstamp, if you want to get more technical. -

Turning positive attention on active members or customers
by free2beme inwhen you buy a new cell phone, they give you a new pretty cell phone for cheap, waive activation fees and treat you too all this positive welcome attention.
then once your in contract, it is deal with it sucker or pay a huge cancellation fee.
when you order new cable service, they have these "free service" offers for the first fee months, and then once that is done, you call and ask about a ad you saw and it is "sorry, but that is only for new customers.

SirNose586
Nice analogy. Only, a cell phone company won't threaten you with eternal destruction if you leave them...

Are We Missing the Bigger Picture???
by drew sagan inwe all pretty much have come to the same conclusion here that the watchtower is a corrupt system that controlls it's followers.
through websites, tv, and books many have put in alot of time exposing the teachings for what they really are.
but is there something going on in the organization right now that is even bigger than the false doctrines, something that shows they are in the planning stage of something that's even more corrupt than what is going on now?

"SIRNOSE those comments are exactly the same as what my mother used to say. especially towards the late 80's and 90's she would always talk about how the other sheep where incapable of running the organization the way the anointed did. "
--darth frosty
It's so sad to see people just swallow that whole two-class doctrine and conclude that they are less of a person. That's what the GB wants to happen. Hey, maybe she's right: it takes a special kind of person to maintain that web of tortured logic, unsound rhetoric, and just outright lies in the magazines. Those old-timers are the only ones who can do it the best. -

Hey blondie, I've got a good one for paragraph 10. And I quote:
Speaking about the role that Jesus played in God's purpose, the apostle Peter wrote: "He [Jesus] was foreknown before the founding of the world, but he was made manifest at the end of the times for the sake of you." (1 Peter 1:20; footnote) Did Jehovah predetermine from the beginning that Adam and Eve would sin and that the ransom sacrifice provided by means of Jesus Christ would be needed? No. The word "founding" is translated from a Greek term that literally means "throwing down of seed"....So following the rebellion but before the conception of offspring by Adam and Eve, Jehovah foreordained the appearance of the "seed."
--07/01/06 Watchtower pg. 23, paragraph 10
Oh REALLY? From Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words:
<A-2,Noun,2602,katabole>
lit., "a casting down," is used (a) of "conceiving seed," Heb. 11:11; (b) of "a foundation," as that which is laid down, or in the sense of founding; metaphorically, of "the foundation of the world;" in this respect two phrases are used, (1) "from the foundation of the world," Matt. 25:34 (in the most authentic mss. in 13:35 there is no phrase representing "of the world"); Luke 11:50; Heb. 4:3; 9:26; Rev. 13:8; 17:8; (2) "before the foundation of the world," John 17:24; Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:20. The latter phrase looks back to the past eternity.
(bold mine)
Past eternity! That makes sense: Jesus was from the eternal past. I can really see now that they write these articles in such an intellectually dishonest way, and just really make up nonsense as they go along.

"I think he actually did put it in for all the other Elders knew about the arrangement including the secretary. And he was a nice bloke ,but it is funny how the Org has so many rules that you had to be careful not to trip over them!"
--wozadummy
I see. So the decision probably falls back to the old standby, of not letting any bad publicity get to the Org.
