famous for by accusing other religions of being the antichrist.. page 5 of the dec 1 06 watchtower says the antichrist includes those that "falsely claim to represent christ or that improperly.
ascribe to themselves the role of messiah by presumptously promising to achieve that which only christ can do- bring about.
You would think an organisation supposedly endorsed by Jehovah himself would get that right the first time, would'nt you?
But fullofdoubt, you do know that they are "tacking," right? One of these days they will have the truth. In the meantime they are allowed to make mistakes, because this leads them ever closer to the truth.

"you know, a while ago, people used to object to the idea of children dying at armageddon but nowadays there is a spirit in kids (massive generalisation), which just seems to make them fit for destruction.
"If you found a poisonous snake with babies would you just kill the mother? NO! you would kill the babies too! And so in the same way Jehovah will kill the babies and children of those who don't worship him."

i was out today and working with a well-indoctrinated brother ("brother b").
we were hitting houses with tracts then running, until we went on his call.
brother b was trying to give him an asleep and a tract, and invite him to the talk today, which was given by a bethelite (and it was a heavy indoctrination session, which is another story).
SirNose...we may not see eye to eye on a lot of issues, but I KNOW just how you feel on this one.

This householder seems to be in no danger of accepting the cult - but nonetheless, if were Me , I would go back to his house alone, tell him that you noticed his level of awareness about JW's was higher than most, and drop a hint about your own doubts. Let him run with the conversation. He may indeed be a former witness, or his wife might be, or a relative. If you can get him to keep your conversation private and not reveal that you came back, this guy may be an assett and support when you finally get in the postion where you can leave the borg yourself. IF you don't get to talk long, just give him 4 or 5 key websites to look at, and tell him to not mention it to the other witnesses that you did so.
Thanks Jeff. I would love to talk with the guy (btw his name is Steve), but that's risky. The man lives in a manufactured home complex and is right next door to a witness couple. They were the one couple in my congregation who went out of their way to help my family when we had some problems a few years ago. I would hate to be seen over at this man's house and get questioned by the couple, especially since he could spill to beans to them and to Brother B. Too many eyes and ears.
I think I would probably contact this guy if I were on my way out.

the dec 06 awake ("jesus - who was he") has as it's second article "the life he makes possible" (referring to jesus).
in that article is the subheading "evidence god's kingdom is near" which reads as follows:
So God's purpose for mankind is to destroy 6 billion people because, somehow, they stand to 'interfere' with the peace of a few million active dubbies, who alone have the scriptural hope of surviving God's global day of massacre.
Doesn't sound very good when you put it so plainly.

if ever the elders asked me to attend a judicial committee for some reason, i would refuse.
i would never accept to go to their kangaroo court.
Last weekend a Borg representative came and gave a Saturday and Sunday talk. HEAVY indoctrination session. One of his points was on being in a JC--as in, how could you (the sinner) make someone go through that. He related how this father was bawling at all the charges leveled at his daughter. "Yes, he was so shaken up that the brothers had to hold him to calm him down."
I was in the sound booth half-asleep, but I perked up my ears at that point. Now, how in the world did this man get so worked up? Did they rake the man's daughter over the coals? Was the shock and stigma of having one of his kids in a JC too much to bear?
How was that kind or loving?
Plus I listened to SickofLies' secret JC recordings and it was quite illuminating. So yes, I would choose not to have anything to do with the JC were I to be asked to one.

Where are all of the educated, single sisters in the congregation? I have 2 masters degrees and had began doctorate work. I just turned 30.
You've done well for yourself, sir. Aside from your queries about the dating scene...how in the world did you end up around the witnesses?
i was in the borg for 20 of my adult years and i must say that in all that time i only knew of one sister who got pregnant before she was married.
she was given a public reproof and was never treated badly.. considering a lot of the teenagers did most things they shouldnt have and many did get reproved for immorality, i am surprised that many didnt get pregnant.
especially as they would of likely not have been taking contraception.. was this common in you kh or area?.
There's a girl in my hall, not even 18, but has two kids. The father is a dumb, shiftless guy. Neither are baptized, so she more or less gets ignored...
many of us have family in the borg, we are anxious to get them out, .
we might be very angry with the borg.. but who among the jw do you really just pity?
is it elders, pioneers, retired folks w/o decent retirement?.
I pity anyone who follows JW doctrine to the letter. We all know there were varying degrees of commitment. But I feel bad for the part-time wage slave, pioneer, naïve person...who is an accident or a medical emergency away from being too poor to eat, because they couldn't afford health insurance. There is a family in my hall that doesn't have health insurance. Pretty scary.
Next would be the old folks who were promised paradise and still wait for it...
After them would be anyone who said, "We'll have kids in the NS" and then become the folks directly above.
