Do you have any phobias?
by greendawn indo you have any phobias jw related or not?
i personally don't have much except having to go through very narrow spaces where i can barely fit in that freaks me out and i also fear very hot weather like over 38 degrees celsius as if it will give me a heat stroke.

Cover Letter and Letter of Disassociation.
by AK - Jeff ini am forced to either accept df'ing without any defense [i clearly have none against charges of apostasy], or to at least 'speak my mind' one last time as i exit, with a hope of perhaps helping others to 'wake up'.. to that end - i have elected to send a letter of da to the elders - but more importantly - a copy of it, with a cover letter, to several families in the congregation.
most of these things never have a positive result, i know.
but at least i have attempted in this way to give a little defense for my position.

Jeff: I feel for you and envy you at the same time. Your mixed emotions may be painful but you must be experiencing a great sense of relief as well. I, for one, feel smothered and claustrophobic. I fear loosing my cool and blurting out something I can't take back at each meeting I attend.
Take each day at a time, give yourself room to grieve and heal and enjoy the rest of your life.

Was Being A Witness, All THAT Bad???
by minimus ini mean, you could've been made to be an islamic fundamentalist or something, right?

High points: having instant friends when you move to a new area, high trust factor(most witnesses are honest), high morals
Low points: having my childhood stolen from me, not having the freedom to chose not to be a witness w/o serious repercussions, restictions on education and free thinking, hypocrisy at high levels, having to believe and go along with everthing or else.
Summary:Not so good...

I would not bring up Bible doctrine-way to sensitive-brain will shut off. Bring a copy of the UN letter straight from the UN site. Ask if she has heard about it. Ask her what witnesses feel the UN represents. Make sure she knows you got this straight from the UN. Just plant the seed and let it go... If she is curious she will look into it on her own. Don't push too hard, you might loose her friendship.
Enjoy your trip.

Can a prospective divorced member marry another JW
by zilla ini have recently chosen to have a bible study with the jws because i have recently met several jws who have inspired me by their goodness towards others.
i have been married twice, divorced once and now recently separated.
none of my marriages ended due to adultery on either side.

You will be free to remarry if your ex remarries or you have proof he has been having sex with someone else.
My advice- run as fast as you can. The witnesses you know may very well be nice people but they are deceived and will deceive you as well.

Great letter, very heartfelt and detailed. But, perhaps, too detailed. What I mean is, you want your friends to read it and not get spooked. I would say as much as I could on one single page in hopes that they get through the whole thing.
I wish you the best.

Their definition of a cult seems right on target. However, as you look closer into the "Cultwatch" site it seems the owners are "evangelicalish", and perhaps cultlike themselves. This of course is my opinion and it may be just a product of being so burnt out by the Society that I don"t trust anyone anymore.

Current teaching: King of the South is the Angloamerican World Power. King of the North is unknown since the soviet block fell. They will let us know when he manifests himself.

The Capable Wife....
by LivingInReality inright before i got disfellowshipped in 2002 i was sitting in the kingdom hall listening to an elder give a public needs talk.....and this one floored me.. so the brother starts talking about what it means to be a capable wife...of course all of the scriptures and regular bullshit we've heard over and over....but then he goes on to say...."so what i'm saying sisters is.... to save money to help with the household you can make a garden and get food from that to make your dinners.... you can learn how to sew so that you can make your own clothes instead of spending money to go and buy them at expensive department stores.... and you could look into your circumstances to see if its feasible for you to quit your jobs to stay home and run the household....blah blah blah.." i can't much remember the rest because my head had blown up to the size of jupiter with the hot steam i was about to let go in the middle of the talk.
i decided it was better to get up and go... and i did.
i only mention this now...because (now divorced from my ministerial servant husband of 10 years), i am a single mother that has worked her ass off not only in the secular world, but now as a mother raising two children, getting my college degree and maintaining every avenue of the household responsibilities on my own.

I am not surprised. I once heard a talk on marrige where the brother said: "You sisters, you always have a headache!!" Implying we don't give our "due". I thought to myself, if I was married to him I would have a headache too.

What do you do when a old Boyfriend wants to meet up for dinner........
by whyamihere inwe are just friends and we talk maybe 3 or 4 times a year, just to catch up.
well today, actually 5 minutes ago he said he was going to be in my area with in the next month and wants to have dinner.. i don't see a problem with it.
i haven't seen him in years and it would be nice just to meet up for dinner and some laughs.

Don't start something you may not want to see through. If he just wants to "catch up" he would include your husband. He's up to no good. Don't fall for it.
