Welcome, so glad you came over to the dark side, lol.
I am glad you gave into your desire to research. Truth will always hold up to scrutiny, so any organization that discourages that has something to hide.
I look forward to hearing your story.
i hope everyone is having a good saturday.
i've visited this many times in the past month or so, joined yesterday and finally got the nerve to post!
needless to say, i'm super nervous, being new to this whole experience.

our youngest son and his wife (matt and star) welcomed a baby boy yesterday at 7:04 p.m. ivan tomas, 7 lbs.
11 oz., 20 1/4" long.
he is their second child.
i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !
It's really counter productive to show the molester as being some scary monsterish thing because the reality is most molesters look quite ordinary and may seem quite nice, which is how they get away with it. People are in a state of denial, they just can't believe someone they know and like could do such horrible things, that's why children are often not believed, people tend to go with their gut, which is telling them it couldn't be true.
Another reason elders are ill equipped to deal with such things.
just recently i've been thinking about trying to talk about ttatt to my father.
i'm just trying to find an opportunity.
i know he will never leave it - or i would be surprised if he did.
Ask questions. Most JWs will become defensive if confronted with anything not pro Watchtower, but if you are just asking questions it doesn't seem as confrontational and you may get your point across without getting called on it. It's hard to do and may depend on your father and your relationship with him and how well you can say things with a straight face.
You could say you don't understand the overlapping generation thing and ask him to explain it.
You could say you saw a news report about Candace Conti and wondered if he knows anything about it.
or, maybe it's being promoted as the next big thing to replace manga.
sent to me by a university lecturer of my acquaintance.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=260&v=m8-vje-bq9c.
Yikes! I have a Vietnamese American friend who is in Japan with her husband for six months, he is on a student Visa. She says it's much like you expect from Anime and this kind of thing, everything is so cute and tiny and adorable.
sorry if others have posted this video already.
i have been away a while...maybe i'm late to the party!.

I've seen several of these. They are spot on in capturing the kingdom hall experience, the boredom, the people, the sheer stupidity. It's funny, but almost painful, it brought back so many bad memories.
Sweet baby Jesus, why did I join ths stupid blood sucking cult ????
you can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.
I am so sorry your parents have been brainwashed by a cult to shun you. Hopefully they will wake up some day and realize what a mistake they are making. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders are not letting it hold you back, so good for you. Hang in there, it does get easier with time.
I wish you well in your new life.
well there are lots of reason for sure, denial, delusion, wishful thinking, ego maniac, infantile understanding of ancient writings, satanophobia, xenophobia, out of touch with reality, limited choices scrapping the bottom of the barrel, and many more.. listen to this ted talk and see if you can pick out something that helps explain why these guys are such ass holes:.
organizations are often run according to the superchicken model, where the value is placed on star employees who outperform others.
and yet, this isnt what drives the most high-achieving teams.
I can just imagine them sitting around brainstorming solutions to their big problem - that young people in the U.S. and other developed countries do not seem to feel any attachment to the organization and are leaving in droves, and even when they stay are not striving to be pioneers or servants.
Maybe they thought by putting themselves out there and being more visble the young Jehovah's Witnesses would get to know them and feel more connected to the religion. Of course this was doomed to fail, as it just made people more aware they are being led by a bunch of loonies. I cannot imagine anyone younger than twenty five not laughing at tight pants tony and his fear of Spanx.
ok ladies, has there been any documented studies on the role religion or society plays in keeping women in an economical and social disadvantaged state ?
im wondering how many other women out there in the world, who either being raised or being long term followers of a strict religious faith, with traditional family structures, have upon either divorce or death of a spouse find it nearly impossible to find a mate or economic stability , and live out the remainder of their lives struggling and either bouncing from one guy to another, being disappointed or used, or simply alone.
i have personally felt, that i, being a xjw and now divorced woman , with no acceptable work skills,[ ie: fancy resume with degrees] living of low wage part time work and barely any alimony , will simply be viewed as someone trying to get another man to support her.

i have nothing special to offer, thats the point, what do men think a women has to offer?
This is your problem, you obviously have very low self esteem. It's understandable after a divorce and leaving a cult, but you do have something to offer. I don't know you, but just based on your posts here I can see you as intelligent, can communicate well and are a nice person. You managed to break free of an abusive cult, that took courage and smarts. That's not nothing, and I am sure you have other things to offer as well. But until you believe you are worth something no one else will either. Stop looking at what you don't have and start thinking about yourself in a different way.
If not money then what?? i can do domestic things, its all i know how to do! cook clean, sew, garden, what else is there? what do i want from a man? he can provide for the family, and in return he gets a clean house well cared for offspring, and sex. lol. what else is there?
Don't knock cooking and cleaning, sewing and gardening, there are probably lots of men who would be happy with just that, lots of women can't do those things. And if you have love in your heart to give to the right guy, that could be life changing for that man, do you think that's nothing to offer? But you also want someone who loves you for being you, and the other stuff is just a bonus. It's hard, but not impossible, but you won't get it if you won't look for it and you won't get it if you think you don't deserve it.
I get it, my first marriage was lousy too and I also have self esteem issues from being in a guilt inducing cult, but it's time to stop that thinking. Negative thoughts about yourself are like weeds in a garden, if you don't get rid of them they take over and crowd out the good thoughts. Nurture yourself like you nurture your plants. There is a saying that sometimes you have to fake it until you make it, so pretend you have confidence and eventually you will.
What else is there? what should i have to offer? i can work part time, thats not a problem, so what is it? ok guys, what do you want??
Other than sex, in my experience guys just want someone to listen to them. If you meet a nice man who interests you, make eye contact, smile and be interested in what they have to say. You would be surprised and how far those two simple things will get you.
If you can't find a class you like have youthought about doing volunteer work? Great for the self esteem and you meet some interesting people.
