Introducing myself

i was raised a jw, third generation.

grampa was a congregation servant and then elder, my dad was an elder for years.

i made it up the ranks fast, you were not anybody if you did not become an elder, i was appointed at an early age.

Recommend a GOOD film - no snakes, planes or spandex superheroes.

it's been out a while and i know it's already been commented on here but i really enjoyed the village.

the creation of fear and the control that it allows must surely strike a chord.. recently i saw christian bale in the machinist.

Last Night A Young Elder Got Announced As Being---- Deleted!

my mom told me that the new elder that just got appointed 6 months ago was now deleted.

this young man is in his early 30's, unmarried, and now history.

what could've happened??

"deleted" what a word! Sounds like a science fiction movie.

I know, it sounds like they pushed a button with his name on it and vaporized him.

"Let's just say he was 'dealt with'." ---scary!

what could've happened??

Right now it probably sucks for him but obviously deep down he has other ideas. Maybe not about the "truth" but he's probably more of a free thinker than everyone wants him to be. Being in a family like that is most likely the only reason he was an elder. In his situation he was probably seen as a prodigy and had no choice but to fulfill his "destiny" and become an elder.

It was probably something stupid he was D'd for. With the witnesses, if they ran a company, you could work there 25 years, never be late, never take a sick day, and be the model employee and they'd fire you for getting too much change back at the vending machine.

Is god really a good leader?

now that i feel free to think about whatever i want i have been questioning everything.

so here are my thoughts on whether or not god, at leasy the one described in the bible, is fit to command.

we don't have very many examples of him ruling over large groups, but here are the main three i can think of.

i was talking to my little brother tonight to let him know about my surgery tomorrow.

we got to talking and he has been posting here, too.

he's a lot more in to deeper subjects than i am.

How do you get over a crush?

how do you tell your heart to not give a bleep anymore???

what can you do to shut it off completely, i mean, for more than a week?

eyes are hard to control sometimes, as are hands to type with.

IMO--I know it'll suck but you have to actively pursue it or you'll never know. The last thing you want is to be wondering what if. And if it doesn't work it'll be devastating. But not more devastating than the constant wondering. Time will heal it. Right now, time is making it worse.
