Well sir, that was revealing. Edited to add: No wonder.
Also, FT pubs are working like crazy to get their "time in" (one of my FAVORITE JW sayings), before the service year ends.
Toad ya. The numbers are BS.
one of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.
unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.
jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

sbf, are you saying half of the current number of eligible pubs have come in after 1995, roughly 4mill? (I apologize for not knowing the numbers, I'm an accountant and the last thing I want to look at is numbers outside of work...even my own.)
I hear from my old hall that the potential elder pool is rather shallow. The elderly ones are just now gone, some moved out, and from the 20-30 yr olds...not much interest in gunning for appointment. Most of those are happy with MS status. They have made one appointment in the last few years, and the guy has turned into exactly the fellow he used to complain about when he was a MS. C'est la vie.
I've always thought the way to disable this organization is when they lose the elders and FT pubs. The R & F don't mean anything, pioneers do and reducing the hours is a perfect way to shore up those ranks.

Gosh...I think about this all the time. I am amazed when I look around my former circle of friends that they are still "in," and the kids. My opinion is the numbers are stagnant, no growth from the outside in my metropolitan city area. The "hope" is still a strong belief, even though I think most are not buying into the "it's so close" mentality with the continuous let down over the past 15 years since the 1995 generation change. They want that panda/lion/swiss chalet and to see the resurrection.
I don't think the WTBS is going anywhere. I call BS on the numbers. I do believe it will continue to evolve slowly into stricter, even more fundamentalist organization. The elderly will be gone in the next 5 years, so the last of the good ol days will be gone. The baby boomers don't know where to go or what to do with themselves, but will feel freer once their parents are gone. The kids, seems like a few just need the structure, and if you have some good friends, it's a good life. I have a nephew that is a MS, and he works a little, then travels the world meeting other JW's. He absolutely needs this religion...so opposite from his siblings who left years ago. He'd be lost and has no interest in growing in basic knowledge of the world and how things work.
did he ever get his law degree (old thread) does he practice law?.
or did he take over his in-laws sell cars to the wtbts dealership?.
what happened to the book ?.
Looks like a condo in Fresno.
California Corporation inactive a few months.
Interesting.
There was a poster on here who had great tee-shirts and signs. I loved one that was an outline of a tower and the sign said "Apostate Headquarters" and he had it by his front door. Hilarious, loved it.
this is the first of three "dramas" this dc, and i have to say, it was one of the weirdest dramas ever.
i won't go through all the details.
maybe someone else wants to throw in their 2c.. it starts out with two men standing on the "beach" talking, but it took me awhile to figure out what in the hell was going on.
Interesting. There you have it, we here can barely hear this without retching. The WT and significant amount of JWs will think this is oscar winning material and be moved to tears.
Hopefully they keep the drivel coming, because it definitely widens the chasm.
coming off from my thread on the great crowd, (once again thanks td, annomaly and all the others for their help), a question on the other sheep in the 33ce - 1935 ce for the great jwn mind hive.. the qfr in the w86 8/1 p31 ends up with confirming about the other sheep pre-33ce:.
someone might reason: jesus was pointing to a future gathering of other sheep, hence the term applies only to those who, after jesus spoke, would accept the biblical hope of everlasting life on earth.
however, it seems unnecessary to confine the term thusly, as if jesus were defining matters chronologically or sequentially.
Yep, the math is what got me. The house of cards began to crumble. When reading of the persecution of the early Christians, and the numbers , you knew that what and how they died so overshadowed anything that little group in NY ever could ever do. WT was full of BS in anything they explain...about anythng.
Skipping over the outstanding faith of the early Christians, Perpetua being my favorite, and highlighting the their own "sacrifice" ,(18 mths in jail?) was repulsive to me.
It's all in the math. Good find Ann. Sigh.
the only reason i am posting this is because i know many of you are going or will be going through something similar and wonder if it is worth it.
i personally feel that it is worth it regardless of what i lose.
my wife is backing me and i have my children.
soso, omgosh, that letter reminds me of letters from my mom. They made me so sad in their delusional sincerity. Heavy sigh.
She believes she is doing the right thing, and she is trying to save you. The one thing I have found to be true is you cannot argue with faith. Until there is a question or doubt...full blown faith is impossible to reson with.
It seems your dad is more open, enjoy your time with him. For mom, stand your ground, be a good son to the extent you can, but live your life and be happy. Good luck.
6 months or so ago, me and my wife decided we will never set foot again in a kingdom hall.
about 4 months earlier than that, i stumbled upon an article about the wts being associated with the un.
that got me into finding out ttat eventually.
Good results...that doesn't happen so often. Something somewhere in their minds was receptive to a doubt or a question.
Continued success! And welcome!!
So I watched it for the first time last night. It looks good but I need to see the early episodes...I have no idea what is going on.
(maybe seeing the girl on fire is why I couldn't sleep last night. )
I didn't have much luck for previous episodes at the website. Any ideas?
