Not really JH. At the meeting if you do not remember, they just don't study their doctrine. The WT lessons alot of the times deal with how to apply Bible princibles in our life. One can get something new out of each meeting if they are studious.

After all those years at the meetings, are they learning anything new?
by JH init doesn't take long to know every jw belief.
maybe after a few months, you know all that there is to know.. then, every meeting for the rest of your life will be only repitition.

heaven/earth
by GramblingMan inok someone help me out here, from reading 1corinthians 15:35-58. it appears that paul's letter is to the whole church.
i draw the conclusion from this that the resurrected body is for everyone.
well the jw that came by says that all of the church of corinthia was annointed so that's why they have a heavenly hope.

One cannot assume correct understanding of the Bible by drawing conclusions from just a verse. Rules for understanding the Bible are, first Pray to Jehovah for His Spirit to guide you, next, read in content, then read in context. An example would be John 10:30 which reads: "I and the Father are one." Jesus made that statement. If you were to read that scripture and draw a conclusion from it, one would come up with the incorrect understanding of that verse. One might conclude Jesus words as a claim to be God, but when you look at that scripture in CONTENT you would see otherwise. Furthermore, if you look at it in CONTEXT, you would find more clarification on what Jesus meant by that statement. (This is not intented for a trinity debate, but soley as a good example on Content and Context)

What do you tell your kids about God?
by LovesDubs inmy 11 year old son who is an old soul, is a scientist in his heart and waxes philosophically about the universe and its beginnings when most kids his age are playing ps2.
he does that too of course but he spends a great deal of time thinking.
he got into the car the other day and was quiet for awhile and then he said "mom, would you be upset with me if i said i didnt believe there is a god?".

everyone has to decide for themselves what to believe or not believe. (Kid's too?)
Kids, and I mean Kids not young adults should be trained to make the RIGHT decision from there parents. We cannot leave it up to kids to decide what is right for them, that is ridiculous! Parents are to Love and Guide their children. Tell them not to stick the fork into the electric socket (even though they decide for themselves that it would be fun) If we are trying to be Christians, (key words) Our Job BIBLICALLY is to train our Children in the mental regulating of Jehovah (GOD) We are to help them develope the mind of Christ.
Now once we have done that through their child years and then they become an adult out on their own, THEN and ONLY then will the decision be theirs. Train first, then allow for own decision when old enough.

With all those hours spent why doesn't anybody really know what the jw's teach?
From your own reply at least YOU know the Goodnews that they preach and I am going out on a limb here by saing that 90% of this board does as well. So you rebuttle is denied! The 90% here know what the Goodnews is preached by the JWS and they donot believe it, that is why they are here.

The original sin
by onacruse inthis is a question i've had for a long time.. according to the biblical account, adam and eve's sin was to eat fruit from the forbidden tree.. now, ordinarily, when we get caught doing something "wrong," we try to hide the "offending" member (the child tries to hide his hand that has the 'stolen' cookie; we hurriedly try to pull our pants back on when mom walks in unexpectedly while we're masturbating, etc.)..
so, if the "sin" of adam and eve was eating a forbidden fruit, then why wasn't their first impulse to hide their hands?
or to wipe off their mouths?

Did you ever "preach" at work?
by JH inoh, i remember in my early jw days, i didn't miss an occasion to preach at work.. i was working as electrician in a paper mill, and i remember talking to a colleague about the generation that wouldn't pass...... gee, if he saw me today, i,m sure he would remember what i told him, and i wouldn't know what to say.... .

I am sure you could find something to say JH. Just tell them that you gave up the fine fight of the faith. That over the years you have grown weak. That your zeal for Jehovah has dimished to a luke warm puddle. Tell them you still go to the meetings here and there but dont practice anything you learn. You can tell them now you have chosen to fight not for Jesus but against him, it is a less stressful life not having to live up to Bible standards. You can even tell them that you have become a Cameleon, how you are one way at the meetings and another way outside. You can tell them that you have even went as far as BASHING and making fun of the very ones you associate with on discussion boards to fit in with the rest. Boy there is alot that you could say, maybe just tell them you have hurt Gods feelings and just don't care anymore!

Gimme your Best Shot.
by Frannie Banannie ini've been re-thinking about what to say when jw's come knockin'.
i've thought about what the scriptures say about jesus' words to the pharisees and think perhaps i might say, "i don't have any interest in the doctrines and writings of the scribes and pharisees of the wts.".
or maybe i could just say, "yall're just wts nazis and you look down on everyone else as if they were jews during wwii, so i'd prefer not to converse with you.".

Why don't you just handle it the Christian way and say I am not interested. Don't be mean and hateful, just tell them to go away and not to come back. Is that so hard?

If you are worried about being DF'd, have the party on a meeting night
Here's another idea, if you so worried about getting disfellowshipped stop celebrating birthdays! Or, if you do not want to, take Jesus advise, either be hot or cold....not luke warm!

DOESN'T THIS PUT JWS TO SHAME BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T PUT A TRACT THROUGH MY DOOR,AND THEIR CLAIM IT IS LIFESAVING WORK.
Not really. Jws spend more hrs and time and energy spreading the Goodnews than ANY other Christian claimed religion. So getting a tract through the mail is not all that impressive. Whats impressive is spending MILLIONS of hrs going from door to door every year and doing at thier own cost.
