What is the point?
by sanjanicole ini am trying to understand how come that only 144 000 get to go to "heaven", as i understand it there are about 5 million jw in the world right now.
that means that the remaining 5 866 000 are going to be left on earth.
why would you want to serv a god that will not allow you to enter into his kingdom, to get to spend an eternity with him, i know that's what i want...

I saw a beautiful thing yesterday --- a gift from God

I usually avoid them. Unless I cant and then I have to deal with it. The only place I would care is at work, at work we have to get along, and thats my livelyhood. Anyplace else, I just go the other way, lifes to short to be pissed, or to deal with jerks.

Hello Danny, I consider myself an agnostic. Which means I dont know. In my perception after having been a witness, having read the bible cover to cover 5 times and making notes, having examined other beliefs I dont see how everyone in the world is not an agnostic. Based on the definition of agnostic below, anyone who is not would be elder material, or a good baptist preacher or a priest, or a sheeple.
Thats me. Am I happier? That depends on how things are going, on any given day.1. a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience. -

After Armegeddon Whats the plan?
by purplesofa infrom the beginning of the jw experiance, i wondered what the plan was going to be after armegeddon.
we are to expect so much destruction, billions of people destroyed (how many birds does it take to eat 6 billion people in a timely manner?
) with the massive deaths and stuff to clean up........peoples bones for one, rebuiling and resurrecting the millions and millions that have died.....teaching them, and working to clean up the planet.

Were you told to give till it hurts? (Time, contributions etc)
by truthseeker ini remember hearing many times from the platform, and especially the assemblies, that we had to give our valuable things to jehovah till it hurt - and if it didn't hurt, we weren't struggling enough.. especially contributions - did we give till we hurt or did we give out of our surplus?
they love to use the example of the widow's mite to guilt us.. one co said that "some people only give jehovah 10 hours a month!
" - can you imagine that?

Yes I have been like you, are like you, I left the org in 83, 23 years ago after being raised in the troof. You have a world of resources at your finger tips that I never had, the innernet. I could tell you that I dont think there are any answers out there, but that wouldnt help you learn to think for yourself,
You say you havent got a clue now. You cant work out what to believe. Heres some choices.
There is a god. There is no god. We evolved, we didnt evolve. We are gods. We are not gods. Life has meaning. Life has no meaning. Life is what you make it. Man came from another planet. The gods are spacemen. God will take care of you. You will take care of yourself. All religions want your energy and money. All religions dont want your energy and money. You can get something for nothing. Someone else has the answers that will make you happy. No one else has the answers that will make you happy. Happiness is the destination. Happiness is the journey. We are spirits having human experiences. There is reincarnation. There is no reincarnation. The bible is full of contradictions. There are no contradictions in the bible. You cant know god without knowing the devil. God is love. God is the cosmic joker. Jesus is god. Jesus is not god. There were many messiahs born to virgins before jesus. There were not many messiahs born to virgins before jesus. On and on and on.
The deal is when you go down one of the above roads thats your story, at least for the time being. And you tend to believe it, sometimes vehemtly, sometimes radically, sometimes passionately. But it dosent make it the troof, just your reality. This is the pleasure planet. Welcome to the forum of many truths.
