are the jw's the only christian religion that doesn't celebrate christ's resurrection?.
this puts them on the same side as unbelievers, who also don't celebrate christ's resurrection..
We should not confuse celebrating Easter with celebrating Christ's death and resurrection. There are a number of Christian religions who do not observe Easter with its pagan traditions....but do celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ.
Carla brings up an important point, though. The majority of JWs do not partake of the emblems and, thereby are denied sharing in the symbolic "body and blood" of Christ. This is by far the more serious infraction of Christian worship.

It clearly shows that the leaders of the Watchtower were/are infected with "hoof and mouth disease." Rutherford may have made "an ass" of himself in 1925....but he had a pretty nice stable (Beth Sarim) as a result of his prediction.
why a paradise earth is so appealing to jws?.
well no one can say they look around at the problems today and can say they like everything they see.
so a nice clean paradise world would be pretty great.

"Sleep" is likened to death in the scriptures. Jesus used the analogy. (Mt. 9:24 John 11:11) And Paul used it at 1 Co. 15:51.

Excellent material. Christians can reach different conclusions as is evidenced by the many denominations. The Bible mentions two factors for the favorable judgment of individuals. The first is based upon the love that we have for one another. And the second is based upon the "deeds" that we perform in accordance with Christ's teachings. Neither one merits us salvation. But it should be the fruitage of our faith in Christ.

It only proves that the Watchtower Society has its own share of mentally sick people. People that don't fit into society may often be attracted to these sects and cults because of their rejection by the public. It may even justify, in their own minds, their own mental conflict.

The whole concept of an "invisible presence" is foreign to what Jesus actually predicted. The various "signs" that Christ gave precedes the actual coming or presence. That is why Christ warns us not to be misled by the message that " 'There he is, out in the desert', do not go out; or 'Here he is, in the inner rooms', do not believe it." Jesus clearly states: "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory." (Mt. 24:26-31)
All three gospels confirm the visible coming of Christ. (Mark 13:26,27 Luke 21:27, 28) Russell and Rutherford constructed a different view because they wish to confirm their teachings that Christ did come as predicted in their literature. (Russell: 1874 Rutherford; 1914) So, if the premise upon which they build their entire eschatology is wrong, it should not surprise us that the rest is wrong too.

The World Wide Church of God, Int. has an interesting theory about the death and resurrection of Jesus. It says that the prophecy said he would be dead "three days and three nights." (Matthew 12:40) (The Society has explained away this by saying that in the Hebrew idom it could mean "parts of three days.")
WWCG,Int. lists the following:
Tuesday: Christ eats passover with disciples
Wednesday: Jesus is crucified around 3PM (Preparation day for the annual, not weekly Sabbath.
Thursday: High Sabbath, first day of unleavened bread the day after the "Day of Preparation."
Friday: High day Sabbath
Saturday: Weekly Sabbath (Jesus rises from dead near sunset)
Sunday: Women come to tomb "while it was still dark." Jesus had already risen.

i've been writing down russell's chronology (no, i don't believe a word of it).
he had 539 ad to 1799 ad as 1,260 "days.
" 1799 ad (the pope had to go to napolean; the ability for the papacy to persecute was waning) to 1914 ad was the end times period.
Russell and other Bible Students calculated the start of the Catholic church from 539 AD to 1799 AD when Napolean was said to have taken the Pope captive. Undoubtedly, they counted the 1260 days backwards to arrive at the 539 AD date as nothing significant in the Catholic church occurred. Many historians date the rise of the Catholic church to Pope Leo 1. (440-461 AD) "The stories about Leo's intercession with Attila the Hun and Gaiseric the Vandal king suggest that the pope could now perform imperial services at a time when the civil government was disintegrating." ( Eerdman's Handbook to the History of Christianity.)
it amazes me how the wts keeps on telling its members about how they're seeing bible prophecy being fulfilled today.
however, just look at when the last significant jw prophecy was recorded: 1928.. what happened in 1928?
it was the fulfillment of the final trumpet blast of revelation at a jw convention in detroit, michigan.

It takes a great deal of imagination on the part of the Watchtower Society and a great deal of gullibility on the part of JWs to believe that the seven trumpets mentioned in Revelation represents announcements made at those assemblies in the 1920s. Even as a JW I found the explanation hard to swallow. It's a wonder that the Watchtower leaders haven't discarded this along with the "generation" and the 1935 date.
