by robin33126 injehovah witness when mentioning "governing body" they say it like if they knew who these people are.
i asked one jw to mentioned their names and couldn't answer me.
so what is so special if they don't know the names, lives, background, of these people?

Male Chauvanist Paradise
by Downdog01 inas i read thread after thread here i really get the idea that for men and women who are really threatened by the modern world and who don't want to face each other as equals the jw seems ideal.
the men run the show and have all top positions and the women run around and do most of the recruiting, so like someone said jokingly in another thread "there are two girls for every boy" since women can only study with other women.
of course the guys at the top don't want to see this change, they think they've got a good thing.

Does anyone analyze each issue of awake and watchtower for contradictions, poor journalistic technique, logical flaws and the like?
It is amazing to me that their terrible scholarship doesn't tip more people off to the fact that they are very ignorant people who have been mislead and should therefore not be leading others. I also think that the reason they hate education so much is that educated people see all this much more readily.
Growth has basically stopped in areas where education is widespread. I think this could be accelerated if simple and plainspoken analysis of their lies (intentional or not) came out in a timely fashion after their publication. Is anyone working on this as a project?
I think debunking the literature piece by piece could be useful and with the cadres of intelligent exJWs around probably not hard to do. -

based on this i don't want to do anything to hurt her.
i am not a witness and though i would like to pursue her romantically my sense is if she were to accept my overtures it could ruin her life since her family is very involved in witnessing and close association with one such as me could lead to reprimands for her.. my question is this.

How does one become a JW???
by Downdog01 inevery source i've looked at is very vague and my witness friends just keep encouraging me to stop asking questions and come to meetings.
my sense is, since i disagree so much with jw doctrine and the way it is presented in awake and especially watchtower that i'd never make it as a jw.
still i am curious what the process is and what "tests" if any one must pass.. any info will be much appreciated.. thanks,.

Thank you for the encouragement, suggestions and wit.
I think my lady love is too intelligent not to have some doubts, yet she also seems very committed. Her whole family are witnesses and they are close, so the idea of leaving is very threatening. Plus all her childhood memories are tied up with doing stuff like going d2d, so leaving could not be taken lightly in any way. Still she had some questions about Franz's book when she learned I'd read it and liked me well enough to start a personal bible study with me until it became clear we would spend most of the time with me picking the bad logic of the literature apart.
I'll get "Releasing the Bonds" and try to be her friend, till something more seems to have a possible positive outcome. If it is true that "great love requires great background reading" I may be up to the task. Any further suggestions on your part would be appreciated.
