So I WAS doing just as they asked when I refused to ever raise my hand to agree with some petition to pay for the CO's visit, or to pay for a new parking lot, or to help pay the bills.

i have often wondered..... they say jehovah is the begining and the end, and that he can read every heart.
if so, did he not know eve would eat the fruit and then adam would follow?

but a nutty friend of mine said that maybe Eve was curious about the fruit from the tree because she thought it could be better than sex with Adam ....maybe that's why they'd had no kids yet.
as I said..it was a nutty friend. haha
anyway the whole story is flawed.
and who would seriously sentence all of mankind to death and make them eternally sinful just because somebody ate fruit from a tree? Imperfect parents certainly don't sentence their child and their potential offspring to death for eating that lollypop they were told not to eat.
blah. But it's one darn interesting fable/mother goose story ain't it?

my partner and i arrived today at our weekend country home.
we haven't been here for a couple of weeks.
anyway, the jw left us a little surprise folded up on our front door...their "false religion" tract.
I live in gated apartments. I guess they scaled the damn 6 ft gates or something because one was left in my door.
It's funny because I live in a huge apartment community where even the ppl who work there think it's too large a property to check in on things or go door to door with community messages, so why in hell a JW would come in and work a gated community with over 1,100 aparments is beyond me.
They don't know I'm there because I moved here after the hurricane Katrina destroyed my home on the MS coast.....even my old cong didn't know I had moved to that coast, so they damn well didn't know that I moved to another state afterwards. I never was one to feel that I must keep ppl who are not relatives informed of my whereabouts or personal information.........so some ramdom JWs just decided for kicks to come into a closed community to pass out tracts. (I'm going to have to speak to the managers about that....you know safety issues and all...lol)
Not sure what I did with it, but I do recall wanting to light a candle and not being able to find my stash of matches.....and somehow the candle did get lit.

anybody going to a fireworks display tonight in uk?it'll be the first time since being a jw but i love fireworks and am going to one tonight(for the scouts-another no no!
)i still feel abit uneasy about it cos of why jws should'nt do it but know my little boy will love it.i was so disappointed when i became a jw and couldn't do this either!sorry to post something so unimportant but i'm being very childishly excited about it and can't tell anyone else!

I'm sitting here wondering " Did I even know that JW's were not supposed to be into the fireworks or their viewing?" lol
I'm sure it was either talked to death or plastered all over some article or what have you, but reading through some of these posts and my constant " Hmm I never knew they said that", I realize that somehow while I was in attendence at the hall, I still was 'really' not there.....

I'm nothing really.....just me
I'm not into any organized religion, as anything organized takes away from some individual thoughts. And anything questioned as part of any organized religions is rebuffed and excuses run rampant.
I've never set foot in a church to this day and have no intention of doing so on my own...
I simply live my life with common sense. I know the difference between right and wrong. I'm very reserved, so whether or not JW's TOLD me that so and so is wrong, most likely I would not have done those things because I simply personally believe that way. I mean really most ppl follow the 10 commandments as common sense anyways. As for principles, I don't like smoking, I don't really like drinking (unless it's a good wine or import beer, but no hard liquors), I don't like wild parties, I hate most modern music out today, etc etc etc. I really don't need a religion to tell me these things, it's already just the way I am. I'm reserved, I'm religion-free, I like it and I'm just swell with it. (well I also have not checked for typographical errors and I'm swell with that too..haha)

would you still remember most names of jw's in your congregation if you saw them again.. let it be the children or people your age or older.. gee, even when i was active, i knew less than half the names of brothers and sisters and their kids..
I have a bad memory and when I don't care about something it's even worse. I never paid attention to the kids, so damn them.... I didn't know their names to begin with. Other people while I may remember their faces I can't recall their names.. and I only stopped going a maybe 3 years ago. I of course do remember some names, but for the most part I've resorted to saying sister 'what's her face' or brother 'whicha-ma-callit' or 'that boy, you know the one with the big head?'

i was born into a jw family in 1981. i spent my child hood not only going to every meeting but also in a home schooling program ran by some of the congregation folks with children.
extremely cut off from the world to say the least.

I just got on here a few days ago myself. Thanks for telling your story. Isn't it amazing that young, 'impressionable' people can find inconsistency and misconception throughout the religion when the 'mature' ones in the org can't distinguish left from right? Of course the society will say it's because of bad association,etc, but I sometimes wonder if the real reason secular education is put on the bottom rung of the ladder is in hopes that people won't educate themselves and gain full comprehension of what is being taught...afraid that the 'educated people' will be able to discern truth from nontruth or something because I swear every excuse for not being able to socialize normally is the "bad association" thing. I'm glad you pursued secular education and eventually benefited from it.
My mother still talks to me regularly, but when she does bring up coming to the KH, I simply respond by inviting her to church (I myself don't go as I've no interest in being religious). When she of course says no.. I ask " Why it it that you can invite ppl and expect them to come to the hall, but you flatly refuse to go into church if invited.? Both religions believe they are teaching the truth... so why should they come to yours and not have you return the same hospitality?" She hasn't asked me again....and she never sends literature because she knows I'd ask.."why can't you read other religious lit, but you expect for yours to be read?".......lol.
