As of Thursday night I am no longer a Jehovahs Witness
by Es inyep my fade has come to a stop, got the phone call off my dad today he asked me if i celebrate christmas and birthdays and i said yes, and so he said they are going to go ahead with the disassociation letter i sent over two years ago!!!!..
he said that after today the only phone calls i will get are if there is an emergency, but nothing social my response to that was well you havnt seen or spoken to me for over a year im used to it.. he also said there was no bad feelings and that i should never doubt there love for me, and that the stupid thing of it is they can associate with mike and the kids just not me.. im really happy and calm about it, ive had my initial cry over it, and now i feel good that i dont have to lie and hide things anymore.. its such a relief.. luv ya all.

I'm so sorry for you and your family. they are missing out on 2 beautiful grandchildren and a wonderful couple. I'm proud of you and how you reacted! It's hard to be *cool* when pushed into such an emotional corner.
You are a beautiful person and you are breaking the dysfunctional cycle for your children. that is the best gift you could EVER give them!

Ok so this is it
by The salmon inive been "in the truth" ever since i was 6 years old when my mother was baptised in the late 70`s.
so i sort of got dragged along to the meetings and therin started the indoctrination that was to prove to be my undoing.
ive been reading this page for a while now and read some very slick posts from dissillusioned ex members.

Do you know this feeling?
by DeusMauzzim indo you know the feeling of looking out of the window at the sky, thinking 'there will be no armageddon, everything is well, i followed my conscience...' ?.
do you know the feeling of just going for a walk, all alone.. and realizing that you are alive and out of it, that there is no god counting your hours and meetings?
that is was all just a bad dream, that you are free now to follow your own moral compass.. it makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time.... do you sometimes look at the faces of total strangers in the streets or on the train, wondering how you could have ever thought that most of them could be murdered any moment by some 'loving' god?

so strange to think of now isn't it??? I remember well those very surreal moments.
welcome to the board. I can't wait to read more of your story.

Bug turns women smart, men slow
by zensim inbug turns women smart, men slow"it can make men behave like alley cats and women behave like sex kittens.".
photo: simon schluter.
a common parasite can increase a women's attractiveness to the opposite sex but also make men more stupid, an australian researcher says.. about 40 per cent of the world's population is infected with toxoplasma gondii, including about 8 million australians.. human infection generally occurs when people eat raw or undercooked meat that has cysts containing the parasite, or accidentally ingest some of the parasite's eggs excreted by an infected cat.. the parasite is known to be dangerous to pregnant women as it can cause disability or abortion of the unborn child, and can also kill people whose immune systems are weak.. until recently it was thought to be an insignificant disease in healthy people, sydney university of technology infectious disease researcher nicky boulter said, but new research has revealed its mind-altering properties.. "interestingly, the effect of infection is different between men and women," dr boulter writes in the latest issue of australasian science magazine.. "infected men have lower iqs, achieve a lower level of education and have shorter attention spans.

****The mice were more likely to take risks that increased their chance of being eaten by cats, which would allow the parasite to continue its life cycle****
freaky.
and we think WE are the ones doing the research. -

Did feel that you were at a mental breaking point at the point of leaving?
by jambon1 inprior to you leaving the org did you come to the conclusion that if you didnt actually take the step and leave, that you would run into serious mental difficulty.. i really feel that for 5 years proir to my finally leaving i was quite impaired mentally by the teachings and practices of the org.
it was coming to a head though when i finally announced that i was leaving.
i really felt that i was under intense mental pressure and that if i didnt get out then i may end up doing something serious.

*****I had a sort-of nervous breakdown in the Spring of 2001. I went through a period of about three or 4 days where I couldn't eat, couldn't work, had cold chills, legs (and mind) running at 100 mph when I tried to sleep. I ended up staying at my sister's house most of the time because I felt like I would go completely crazy if I was alone for any length of time.*****
wow Dan. that was pretty much me exactly. it was surreal. I was floating and time kind of stood still. I didn't know if it was day or night unless I stopped and really focused for a moment or two. I never knew what to call it but I would say a nervous breakdown was a good way to describe it. -

Did the Watchtower Destroy your Faith in Humanity?

now that you are aware of the watchtower society and the tactics.
that it employs, what is your attitude toward god, religion, governments, .

nah.
it did briefly when I was raging mad at the cult leaders when I first left.
not anymore.
humanity as a whole is so full of good and hope. -

witnoids just came to my door! woo hoo!!!
by tetrapod.sapien inlooks like i am not on their "do-not-call" list anymore!!
mwa ha ha ha!!!
i bet they are going to have to rewrite the reasoning book now~!

freedomloverr
that was a seriously great read. LMAO!
isn't it kind of weird that a bunch of people (ahem - all us jwd'ers) are giggling like school girls over your slammin' conversation with a bunch of witnoids?! he he he
seriously though - isn't it crazy how just talking to them brings that rush of triggers back? I've had to have a conversation with my witnoid grandma recently and I was literally shaking and sick when I hung with her. it was interesting to watch my reaction to that.... -

must we practice what we believe?
by tetrapod.sapien infor example, i often hear atheists say that while they have a "lack of belief" in any gods (negative position), they are going to make the positive step in their lives and live them like there were no gods.
which is to say that they make their own morals and choices without fear of some god.
but what if an atheist decided one day that so and so religion, that worships so and so god, makes him feel good emotionally, and gives his ever vigilant left hemisphere a break on sundays.

****if your best friend was an atheist, and you were an atheist too, but one day she started praying to some god, how would you react when she explained that she knows that the god she prays to does not exist, and that it is for emotional comfort only?******
I would probably wonder what was going on in her life at that time. She was probably going through a very confusing moment or experiencing complete terror at her lot in life at the moment.
while not believing in *god* I believe in bigger things than the tribal deity of the bible. My *prayers* are to the universe and the vast space inside me that is divine. It is a calling of energy and gratitude to whatever is bigger than me. The universe likes a grateful spirit. It feels emotionally good to pray out the thanks you feel. maybe that's what your friend feels......
