  Help needed in getting df'd

  if a witness wanted to get df'd by asking questions, what questions would you suggest?

  i got my fiance out, but the problem is now with her family.

  first thing, we want to get her out of those meetings.

  Step 5 : Ask them to review the list and verify that any organization that does not measure up cannot be Jehovah's organization. They will verify that an organization would meet these requirements if it is Jehovah's organization. Rephrase the question again; If Jehovah's Witnesses do not meet these requirements, are Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's organization? They will probably not answer you. They will be thinking you are an apostate, at this point (if not before), for even asking.

  Step 6 : Tell them you have three teachings you want to have Scriptural support for, ni order to determine that Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Jehovah's organization. (1) Ask them to demonstrate Biblically that a person is required to preach BEFORE Christian baptism. (2) Ask them to demonstrate Biblically that the men gathered at Acts 15 were chosen to represent all Christians (a conjectured teaching that they use to lend authority to the Governing Body). (3) Ask them to demonstrate Biblically that elders are authorized to hold secret trials to judge guilt, innocence, or repentance in place of the congregation.

  After asking "If Jehovah's Witnesses do not meet these requirements, are Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's organization?" it could be pushed harder by asking "An organization that keeps separate from the world would have to stay out of religious and political organizations, right? If an organization joined the United Nations, it would not be Jehovah's organization, right?"

  I, personally, will go with
  The organization is not infallible and sometimes our current understanding of the scriptures has to be adjusted, right?
  The same organization that adjusted it's understanding of Matthew 24:3, 32 (this generation) also wrote the NWT, right?
  Could their NWT need current adjustments anywhere else in that chapter?

  There are obviously double standards in the org, Greenless kept substantial previliges while a R&F member would lose them for much lesser "misdeeds",

  They are doing their best to balance this. Many, many elders (not just GB or CO and DO anymore) are able to keep their privileges now, for things that lower rank-and-file would be DF'ed or reproved for.

  Another insane fact about October: the month is owned by Reggie Jackson. After all, he is Mr. October!

  i was just wondering just because the wts have made a mess of things and have done things that are questionable.

  is jehovah still the name of god?

  does he exist?

  Your questions are great, and open the greatest of all debates. People will say different answers, but in the end, you must decide how much to teach your child, then accept that he may differ from your teachings as he asks those same questions. It would be wonderful if this forum actually had THE ANSWER. Knowing that JW's don't have "the Truth" goes a long way in helping you. Also, don't confuse a child by calling God "Jehovah." I am confident that the Hebrews had a name for him (tetragrammaton) and we don't know it anymore.

  As far as an opinion from others- go to church, don't go to church, trust the Bible, don't trust it, etc.- this too, you will have to be careful of so that it feels right for you. I will say that I am going to have a problem trusting any organized religion whatsoever. My opinion is biased from the start. Even as I give my opinion, I would say that most people could/should disregard it. I posted this answer to someone else's questions about Jesus:

  Is there a God? Is the Bible inspired by God? Did Jesus exist? Why are there so many religions? I don't know. After deciding the WTS is full of crap, I have a hard time believing anything. I'm afraid to commit. But I have done some research-

  I believe that Jesus was a real historical man, but many experts suggest things similar to THE DA VINCI CODE, that we only know what was passed on, but unlike that book, they think he was JUST A MAN. It is possible that the Gospels were written to make him the Messiah. Matthew's Gospel addresses how to make him born in a certain place, but be from another. The other gospels either offer a different beginning explanation or they just skip it. The same with other "prophecies." The writers deliberately said things happened as fulfillment. Perhaps Jesus was an expert on Jewish scriptures who said great wise things, rode a donkey to Jerusalem, proclaimed himself [son of] God. Do we need 4 Gospels that are almost but not quite in harmony? What of other gospels that may have been written that didn't line up with the other 4? Was Paul a guy like Joseph Rutherford or Jim Baker, or was he actually contacted by Christ?

  If the first century through thrid century church re-wrote and edited, could we have a fanciful story that many believe as true. Virtually none of the scholars accepts the prophecy of the Old Testament. They think most [or all] was written after the fact. What if the gospels were not all written until everyone got their story straight- why wouldn't they be more in harmony if they were true?

  I don't think the laws of the OT are from a God. They are from the priests and leaders, written mostly near and after the Babylonian captivity. The priests gained credibility for YHWH when Cyrus allowed them to go back and rebuild the temple with his blessings. Other Hebrews said that maybe these guys are right. Then they needed their laws to control the people. Complicated laws, they made it up to suit themselves. Did ANYONE ever FULLY OBEY those laws? I doubt it. The laws of the OT are not from a loving God- true.

  Jesus really existed and he got a lot of people excited enough to start a new religion because the priests were losing their grip at that time. There were tons of Messiahs around the area. Most were discovered to be false. Jesus died, others made him what he is.

  ALL THAT I SAY, I KINDA SORTA BELIEVE. I don't really know either, perhaps the fundamental Christians are right.

  does anyone know if there is any information on whether it is correct or not for elders to allow a private wedding at the kh?

  it was my understanding that the kh was a public place.

  Your posters are correct. Public meetings include weddings. Invitations can be sent out, but none are needed to come into the Kingdom Hall and nobody could be excluded. The reception is different, of course, as it is held elsewhere.

  How Come So Many Bethelites Leave The Organization

  hello i'm new here but i've been reading the things on this db for quite some time.

  i am still an active witness, but i've been having doubts for quite sometime and have been looking into the background of the organization, very shocked at what i'm finding.

  since i lived next to headquarters and had a lot of bethelites in my congregation, i was shock to learn (not only on this db) that so many bethelites who leave bethel also end up leaving the organization.

  I always thought it was cruel the way they use the friends but when something happened to them the just threw them out like all their years working there didn't really mean anything.

  It's also a violation of their own doctrine. If anyone cannot take care of his own [Bethel] family members, then he cannot take care of the congregations. If I have something that could be of value to my mother or father (or older Bethelite family member) but I tell them they cannot have it, because it is something dedicated to God, then I invalidate the love for God.

  SOMETHING LIKE THAT, it's late and I think you get the message.

  Can a prospective divorced member marry another JW

  i have recently chosen to have a bible study with the jws because i have recently met several jws who have inspired me by their goodness towards others.

  i have been married twice, divorced once and now recently separated.

  none of my marriages ended due to adultery on either side.

  there are those who genuinely care about people and are able to put their religion to the side and just show genuine concern for people

  I don't know the witness you speak of, but I will disagree with the above statement. Many can do acts of kindness and show genuine concern, but they are trained to believe that the ultimate kindness is to teach you to be a Jehovah's Witness just like they are one.

  Does this person really lose out? Free rent and I would imagine he is a pioneer preacher. He was counting all of his time with your deceased family member, and now need a new family member to continue "preaching" to. He avoids direct preaching so that he isn't thrown out.

  Please don't be offended by these comments. I only say that Witnesses ALL think they have to help you, the apostle Paul said to become all things to all people in order to help them. I am pretty sure he's just following Paul's advice.

  i had an interesting encounter today, actually my son and i both.

  well my good intentioned ex-husband and father of my son thought he would have the local congregation elders call on us and try to get us back to meetings.

  well i had been getting literature from this local elder's wife without her knowing i was ever a jw.

  Just get a JW relative to mail them to you once a month. That's what I did.

  Don't mention the elders saying "The only way..." A former friend or family member might be glad to count the placements.
