i know many people did business with me because i was an elder and had to be honest.
i never cheated anybody anyway because it's simply not right but i know a lot of witnesses that were "screwed" by other witnesses......what about you??

I generally agree with blondie that JWs are not more disposed to being dishonest. I think the real problem is that JWs are taught that the end is just around the corner so they end up with a short term mentality. A successful business has to have a long term view, cultivate customer relationships, build a reputation for honesty and value. JWs get "forced" into a mold that does not suit business success.

having read posts over the last few months, i have come to the conclusion that there must be alot of 'active' jw's who still regularly attend meetings/field service etc.. don't you feel that by posting your many and varied topics, usually complaining/disagreeing with the wbts, that you are being hypocritical?
when you post your information, obtained sometimes in an questionable manner, doesn't it make you question your own underhanded actions?.
you converse with many on this forum who are disfellowshipped/dissasociated, yet if you knew who these ones were, face to face, you would not give them the time of day!

I am still a JW. I am learned so much from reading this board. A true Christain behaves much like the Boreans in searching and checking for truth. I have been taught "heavy" truth from kind ones on this board. I have checked out mentally from the Org - never try to disparage those who seek the truth.
For whatever it is worth I have never shunned a DFd person nor have I DFd anyone.

If you are uncomfortable going to a church consider voluntering with an altruistic organization. We recently worked with Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics and we met outstanding individuals. We also have involved ourselves in the local community endeavors to help under privledged youth. One "aha" you will have is that the folks you meet at these events are there for the common good and not for selfish motive. And although many fine people are at the KH - the people you meet who volunteer their time for the "greater good" are for the most part outstanding people -with stable families, high morals, open minds and have a broad perspective to current events.

i think there might be a mass revolt.
imagine a mob of 100,000 angry dubs in newyork smashing down wt 25 using telephone posts as battering rams.
then the looting and the destruction of every wt property in newyork and elsewhere.
Probably not a mass revolt, but a revolt that looks something like this:
Stop or decrease in contributing to the WWW and maybe even the local KH. Not voluteering to work at the assemblies and conventions. Maybe feining a little bit more illness so one can miss more meetings. Raising questions about key doctrines like the 144,000, the "end times" and others. Start using extra cash from not contributing to funding retirement accounts and investing in education. Leaving the window washing business to get a job with insurance/benefits which will leave little time for "kingdom interests".
Kind of a passive aggressive revolt.............

Great work on establishing that the "annointed" likely number far more than 144,000. Over 90,000 in 1925 is an amazing number when one considers the early christain numbers, the number of annointed ones through the ages and those who became so after 1925.
I have wondered about this question for some time. Thanks for your thoughts on the issue.

It was earlier today when a kind person explained something I had not allowed myself to think about – that Jesus is my savior, redeemer, High Priest and King , Eternal Father, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:4-7) and yet I cannot speak to him (according to the WT)
He asked me, “Can you have a personal relationship with someone with whom you cannot communicate” – the kind person continued to reason with me that I can communicate to Jehovah, to the Governing Body and to any Brothers in positions of responsibility from Elders to Branch overseers, but that I cannot remain a witness and communicate freely with Jesus.
He also referenced several biblical examples regarding the real relationship a Christian can and should have with Jesus personally.
I don’t know where this will all lead, but thanks so much Auldsoul!

jgnat, if that is the case where the difference is to be celebrated how do you make our families better, the world better. An interchange of ideas is a step, but collective beliefs lead to change. Do you not want change? Is what we currently have the best that it can be?
