hello all, just had an interesting conversation with a p.o.

elder and his wife who were leaving me a incognito invitation to the "follow the christ" convention.i declined the invitation, but told them i had an associated press article i'd like to leave with them about molestation settlements jw's made outside of court.

i asked if they were aware of this settlement.

Yeah, it simply amazes me that JWs can read about or see all of this in the news and turn a blind eye to it. HELLO!!! What part of "you will know my disciples by the love amongst themselves" does covering over childhood abuse fall under?

my conscience wouldn't allow me to do otherwise.

after all, this is the country that schooled me and fed me.

i use all the infrastructure here, and am entitled to all rights and benefits that any other citizen was entitled to.

Standing is respecting our country. It is rude to sit. Actually quite ironic that because we live in countries that value religious freedom, we CAN sit.

Did You See Congregations Polarized by Gossip? How was it resolved?

hello folks.

in some congregations i went to, there were such class distinctions due to cliques and personality conflicts that you could almost draw a line down the middle of the kingdom hall separating people.

i had one elder tell me and the ex-wife to stop associating with his believing daughter who lived with him, in good standing, because as he put it,"she's on slippery ground".

You just nailed it. This is what truly showed me that they weren't god's chosen org. I kept remembering the scripture that talked about god's true org having love amongst themselves. Right. I don't think so.

If I were to ever protest at a memorial, it would be over the scripture that says that Christ's followers would be known for their love amongst themselves. More and more witnesses are becoming disillusioned over the cruelty, two-faced nature among JWs. That is the crack that broke the dam for many. If a sign could say that and then give them a website where they could go to learn more about this international problem, it would be a good thing. Then they could go to the websites and discover that the lack of love is just the tip of the iceberg.

When ever I hear about someone of this age dying, it breaks my heart because many of them were like libraries of knowledge. I wish I could record the stories and memories of all of these individuals and that our culture would learn to value their experience. Our world would be a better place.

How often do you take vacations? Where do you go?

We have two little children, so we are currently in that stage of vacationing. We went to DisneyWorld last October and Williamsburg last year. We like to go away every couple of months to a friend's cabin that sits atop a spring-fed lake a series of waterfalls. The girls like to play in the waterfalls and hop among the rocks. Our plans are to take a large vacation once/year with a couple of smaller weekend get-aways. I would like to take another cruise, next year, with the girls this time. We love being out on the sea, so it just makes sense. Once they are a few years older, we will be visiting New Zealand. When they are in their teens, we'll be heading over to Europe. I want to spend a month in the summer over there traveling around with the girls.
