Was just curious as to what requirements a witness need to posses in order to conduct/give a Bible study...Are only those of a certain standing within the cong eligible?, do they have to be of a certain age etc..Also, what does a first study entail and what could a person expect to hear..must be pretty well thought out and convincing in order to maintain a persons interest long enough to agree on a second visit/study.

by luffy inmy ex came back from the convention and the subject came up of familiy, marriage etc...i asked, how they believe marriage family etc will stand in "paradise"...do they believe earthly marriages will still be valid and mates will still be together, or is that annuled!!

"Just other men" Im guessing as in just anybody as opposed to with spouses and family...I also wouldnt enjoy the prospect of eternal life under those circumstances...
Interesting why JWS would be so worried as to shun straying family members and only marrying their own kind whilst claiming its because they are saving them, when chances are, according to them, they are facing eternal life without them anyway..

So......online dating sites; yay or nay?
by tim hooper inok, all you lovely people,.
so it's been a year now since mrs h and i went our seperate ways, and even though there are people on the boards that i've come to love very much i've started having a tic in one eye whenever i see a presentable lady in real life.
i guess that means that i maybe ready to start looking for some female companionship.. thing is, it''s been over 20 years since i last went on 'the pull', and i'm a bit rusty these days.

I was unhappily married, met someone online actually through a card playing site. We played cards and chatted for almost two years before he proclaimed undying love and despite him being in the U.S and me in Europe, we decided we wanted to be together. To cut a long story short, I divorced my husband, and no sooner had I done so he meets a JW in a store and decides to convert, hence my ending up here.
Call me naive but after two years spending hours and hours chatting, sharing life stories, pics and long distance telephone calls, and having checked his background online I thought I couldnt go wrong. Guess the last thing I could have imagined was the JWS would get a hold of him!!!!!!
Seriously though, we spent a great two years "together" and despite the heartache I feel I was just unlucky, had he not converted Im sure we could have spent a great life together. Be sensible and go with your instinct, you can meet nutters offline just as you can online, but you can always check them out, ask to see them on cam so you know who you are talking to etc...
Anyways...goodluck, Im still recovering from my online dating experience but have met many great friends online who are worth their weight in gold

Paisley Ties Are Satanic, Sandals Are Immodest. What is Worldly????
by mtsgrad in20 years ago (in my teens!
) there was a well established rumour that the paisley pattern had demonic origins.
no brothers in my hall wore ties with that pattern, until a watchtower had a brother wearing a tie with this pattern.. a co said that sisters feet should not seen at the meetings for the sake of decency.

"wordly"= just another one of the glorious words the JWS use to set themselves apart from the others and justify their "group"
"wordly"=NORMAL!!!

Back to the topic - I am in love with a JW
by LindaLu ini have been dating a very committed jw - he spent some time out of the organisation after a divorce and about a year ago has been granted a fellowship again.
i absolutely adore him - and what is there not to love!
he is the most kind, sweet and lovable man i have ever met.

I was in exactly the same position as you, infact I ended an unhappy marriage in order to be with a man, who after my divorce decided to convert and become a JW.
As I have already mentioned in earlier postings, he was the love of my life, and in the same way as you have stated, was the most sweet and caring man...who could not fall head of heels for someone like that?
I can only speak from my experience, but my advise is to get out and move on, however painful(and believe me I know the heartache involved) The longer it goes on, the harder it will be and the end result will be the same...more heartache for you.
As I have mentioned in another thread, many JWS seems to want their cake and eat it. We, the "wordly" are in their eyes inferior to them most of the time, except when they are feeling that their lives need a little refreshing and a change from the hum drum..do not allow him to use you as that "refreshment" as I mentioned earlier, do not become the pawn.
Its hard but possible!!!

Hi
I stopped posting here a while back and only visit to read the threads once in a while in order to keep my strength up and remind myself how lucky I really was , to find this place after my ex decided to convert and become a JW.
Revenge is pointless, reserve your dignity. The greatest talent a JW has is to "switch off" you will be ridiculed and he will be the hero for dumping a "wordly" girl in favor of a sister. It seems not matter what the circumstances, they will find an excuse for his behaviour, so long a he as "come right" in the end.
LESSON 1...I have realised that the majority of these JWS still need and cannot resist contact with us "wordly" people. Most do it on the quiet, convincing themselves that it really isnt that bad, until the sense of guilt kicks in and they start "behaving" again, only to find themselves needing the contact and once again not being able to resist. It is a vicious circle, dont become the porn.
LESSON 2...JWS have no more morals than anyone else, but seem to believe that their hypocracy and double standards go unnoticed...God must be laffin at em
LESSON 3...Direct your feelings of revenge into those of pity and humor, he will reap what he has sown, and after a taste of a "wordly" fiance, when the reality of what he has done sets in and he is stuck with his sister, Im sure regret will set in. By that time believe me, you will be where I am now, thanking God he left you and allowed you a "life"
We may be "of this world" but they sure as heck seem to have appeared from Mars
I would say good luck but believe me, your luck began the day he cheated!!!

divorce
by luffy inhow would somebody argue the jw doctrine that a divorced person cannot remarry a jw unless "scripturally" divorced..ive looked through the bible scriptures on this and find it hard to argue the jw interpretation although i would be really grateful for any arguments against the jw interpretation on this that could hold water!!

dear clc417
your situation is similar to mine and I symathise with you..although one may come across as a soft numb skull I am sure you find as I do that it is not as simple as walking away when you are truly in love, even though thats what your head will tell you to do.
I do not for one minute feel or believe that I am am seen as revolting by my witness boyfriend..that he might be expected to believe that, is a different story..but from endless looking into and discussion on the witnesses, and in speaking to my boyfriend, I have become very much aware that a large part of this religion is based on the "expected" witness persona..and on the occasions this guard is let down the true person and his feelings emerge.
I have decided that whatever the outcome of my relationship, one thing that will remain is a friendship..having said that I am not prepared to give up on him. To walk away would be admitting defeat, and giving in if you like to the watchtowers "ideals" the fact that he continues to tell me he loves me and that I am his soulmate and that we will marry, is a small victory to me and although I have no intentions of converting, will leave it up to him to realise his conscience with Jehovah, God, or whoever cannot be played with the same dice as the manmade rules and interpretations of the Watchtower. There is no contract as far as I have seen between the Watchtower assosciation and God.
As I said..my way of dealing with it is to be the better person, to prove that my intentions when I divorced were not trivial..I did not seek a divorce to go out and "play the field" I divorced after 14 years of misery and because I fell in love, for that reason and for my own conscience I am not prepared to walk away..I am sure God would approve rather, of one who stayed out of love, than of one who seeks favours by running under a manmade security blanket!!!
good luck!!
