Hi P: I don't believe that stuff because every sign seems to have something pertaining to me.
Hey, by the way, I loved that fast talking smiley face! So cute!

this website
by little_lamb_on_a_hill ini just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.
incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.
i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.

Lamb, something is wrong. You stated that you are not shunned by family and friends because you do not try to share your beliefs with them? That makes no difference. You were once a witness and because you did not agree with their beliefs you left and you are not shunned? I don't get it. Even though you do not try and share your beliefs, you are still considered to be "bad association" in the eyes of the organization. I don't understand how you could not be shunned!

Zev, that was truly a brave thing to do. Congratulations on your integrity. Sometimes I feel that its just easier to go along and not make waves, but then you have to be true to yourself don't you? You have to live life for yourself and not bend to the desires of outside forces, whatever they might be. Good luck to you!

why I like this web site
by blindfool ini thought about posting this topic earlier today and decided not to.. but after reading little-lamb-on-a-hill i thought, what the heck?.
yesterday, my eight year old son had some minor surgery, nothing serious, very minor, but you know how the doctors tell you how even minor surgery can take a serious turn.
well, i started to imagine all the things that could go wrong and of course thought of the blood issue.

Gee Blind, I am so glad to hear that you son is okay. Kids can scare the beejeesus out of you can't they? I know mine are always into something and I never know what is going to happen next. Anyway, happy that everything went fine.

Xenu, I think its called "venting". Sometimes it just feels good to call people you don't like names (as any kid!). That applies to the WBTS too. Actually, its therapeutic to do so. Makes you feel better. After all the harm the organization has done and all they have to answer for, people on this forum calling them names is the least they have to worry about.

My grandmother was a witness back in the '30's, my parents were witnesses and when I and my siblings were raised JW's, that was all we ever knew and we sincerely believed in everything that was taught to us and we were smug that we had the truth and others did not. Then some of us slowly came to the realization that this was not the truth and that we had been duped by a religion started by a midwesterner who had a flash of light.
I am sure you realize that the WTBS is a religion like few others. It requires all of your time and resouces and cuts you completely off from the world. If I am "obsessed" with it it is just because I have family who are still in the organization and I want them to be free of its mind controlling enviornment. I want them to stop worshipping a publishing company and to live in the real world.
We all know that all Jehovah's Witnesses are not hypocrites and that they really believe what is taught to them. That is what is so dangerous. That they accept without question all that the WBTS tells them and so they allow their loved ones to die because they won't accept blood transfusions and allow themselves to be shunned by beloved members of their family and ones that believed were true friends. All because the organization says that this is what Christians do. Can you honestly blame us for being upset? Its not just because someone was mean to us. We are not petty and stupid. To live in the world means that people are unkind sometimes. Its just that the WBTS does not have the truth and we would like in some way to expose that. I guess you could call it a public service work.
Anyway, could you share with us why you are no longer a JW? As long as you are here and contributing to his forum, we would like to know.

memorial ettiquette for worldy people??????
by concerned mama ini have been away for a few days, so forgive me if this has already been covered.. am i (a non jw) supposed to refer to the memorial in any way talking to a jw?
for example, would i say "happy memorial", or could i ask if they had a nice celebration?
since it is the one and only big day each year is there some way to acknowledge it in a friendly type conversational way?

Attendance is the important thing. So when referring to the Memorial to a JW you ask "Did you attend the Memorial?" This statement encompasses all things in connection with the Memorial and the JW will understand that at once. JWs invite as many people as possible to their Memorial so its okay if you know about it.

Complaints
by Guyferna inplease only respond to this message if you read everything on here first.
thank you.. why do people spend most of their time here complaining?.
some say: the organization is too strict!.

Dear Guy, although this forum says it is for anything JW related, you know by now that most of the people here are anti-JW. If you read my previous response to you carefully you will see that rather than "complaining" I was endeavoring to enlighten you as to why we are here. Therefore, I am now informing you as someone who is concerned about you that if you are still a dedicated JW you should not be here posting on this forum. Especially if it is such a waste of your time. However, if you truly want to learn why we no longer believe that JWs have the truth you are welcome to stay and share with us. In that case I do not believe I will be needing the name and address of your kingdom Hall.
Also, I would appreciate your communicating to me without the name calling. I am sure that your mother raised you better than that!
