Admins, So sorry about that F Bomb. Please forgive :)
BetterDaze, When I first came on this board, I was still a JW in my mind. This board, and the awesome supportive attitude of everyone here was a big part of my awakening. I'll never forget that. The support system of Ex-JWs and Non-JWs I've built aside from this board is all people I'd lost contact with because of the Cult, so I felt it necessary to undo some of the damage I'd done, plus I missed them.
AuldSoul, I've come a long way. Still haven't come out of the apostate closet, but I'm getting there. Thanks for thinking about me.
Jgnat & Blondie, so funny that you mention a cruise. I'm planning on talking with my wife after we get back from our cruise in November. I wasn't doing this for the reason you mention, just because I didn't wan't to have to cancel the cruise (its with a jw couple) However, what you mentioned reminds me of how Steve Hassan got out of the Moonies when he landed in the hospital. Also, I have noticed that my wife is more normal and less judgemental after missing even 1 Meeting. Being gone for two weeks might help. Great advice.
Unfortunately, I had developed a defeatist attitude when it came to my situation, but reading Steve Hassan's book is helping me feel empowered and less afraid, and more positive about how things may go with my wife if I can manage to be smart about it.
We'll see,

Just as a quick update. I'm still in, but I've given myself a deadline of the end of the year to talk to my wife about how I feel about the WT. I'm not joking. I mean business. It's happening.
I've connected with allot of old friends who've left the org and have been getting a lot of support from them, also old friends that aren't JWs. I've also been reading "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steve Hassan.
My apologies to anyone who's messaged me at that old myspace. I've abandoned it. If you want my new one, PM me!

New Light Coming?
by dontomas inhi - i have jw friends (really!
) and have gone to kh for some talks and study every couple of weeks.
things like the new watchtower policy, selling buildings (i am from nyc and know the heights well - that will make a boatload of money), the sex abuse settlements, drop in membership and donations, and some of the changes i have seen in the magazine (the annointed qfr, for example).

WTwizard, I think that ALL of what you're saying won't happen, but IT COULD! And that's whats scariest, at some point there's going to be a showdown. My wife already kind of knows that I'm not down with the Kool-Aid since I won't budge on certain things. It could get ugly.
Amen, come lord Satan!

"They don't even know what they believe!" -- JW
by AlmostAtheist ina jw once said (more than once, probably) in regards to members of other faiths, "they don't even know what they believe!
" i know that's a legitimate quote from a real jw because i'm the one that said it.
i often found that the people i met in field service would claim to be a catholic or a methodist or whatever, but wouldn't have a clue about the beliefs of their church.

AlmostAtheist,
I've been thinking about this sort of thing alot lately. I agree with you that JWs are an arrogant bunch, although i partially believe some of what the wanderer says about it.
I DO think that the environment created by the WTs teachings IS one of arrogance, despite the fact that they say it is out of love. How many times do you hear JWs refer to non-JWs as "Some Worldy guy" They basically use it as a racial slur! I've always felt that JWs regard non-JWs as a lower class of human being.
Look in the revelation book, in the upcoming weeks there is a picture of an angel killing wicked "worldly" people. The worldy people are portrayed as a bunch of violent animals. My wife won't share a cup with the "worldly" people at work because she sees them as a promiscuous, diseased bunch!
Although many JWs claim they have "empathy" for worldly people, when was the last time most of them gave any money to a charity other than the WT? From what I've seen, MOST DONT.
However, There are some people in the JWs who ABSOLUTELY LOVE looking down on non-JWs. They gain a self-satisfaction, it makes them feel like they are part of an elite. Many elders and pioneers take on this persona. I believe this has to do with their personality, and if they belonged to any other cult, they would be the SAME WAY.

The wanderer is a troll.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.
How is he trolling. He's probably the most respectful person on any internet forum EVER. If HE's a troll, than we all are too. That's just silly...

Recommendations About Leaving The Truth

Did Peter Predict the Emergence of the WT?
by Perry in2pe 2:1 - show contextbut there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.
they will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
it seems like i remember a few months ago that ak-jeff or maybe someone else alluded to an article from the last few years that definitelty stated that christ did not die for the great crowd.

Amen Funkyderek. JW is small potatoes, especially when you consider that JW has 8 mill and scientology 10. JW is barely a blip on the radar.

What Double Standards Exist With Jehovah's Witnesses?
by minimus into be a "good jehovah's witness" you must be able to live by double standards.
you have to know how to play both sides to the middle.
you have to speak and act one way with certain persons and another way with the others.. one example of how witnesses live by double standards:you cannot join the ymca because jws can't involve themselves with religious matters or else be shunned.

Blueblades, that always bothered me. We go through ALL this trouble to GET people to reconsider THEIR religion, but we cannot check on our own, or even accept another religion's literature at the door.
YOU, be open minded but I'll stand here on your doorstep with a closed one.
It doesn't make ANY sense.
