i regularly talk to a poster on this board via the pm system...............mainly because i like his mind.......today he suggested in reply to something i had said that basically men and women dont do friendship.........he asked the question 'why do people even bother with each other if they dont fancy each others intimacy?
'...............not that he was suggesting this about us.........but i am just wondering what you lot think.. it has been my experience to have some wonderful men friends...........i love mens company and their conversation..........now i am wondering if all those 'mates' were/are after something else............well not really........i am pretty sure at least some of them arent.. so whats your view/experience.........can men and women just be good friends.. oh and to my friend who i pm.........this is not a criticism of you.........i am interested in what others experiences are..........and i will give you a big kiss (on the cheek) one day when i see ya to make up for it.......... fi.

While I have had both men and women friends in my life, I have to say that my friendships with women have lasted longer. In fact one of my best friends is a woman that I've known for 7 years. She and I actually started chatting online and had even considered dating. Although we met a couple times a few years ago, we eventually moved on to other people. But we have stayed in touch ever since. She and I have discussed the relationships that we have had with other people. She has given me the female perspection and I have given her the male perspective! We have been there to support each other in our times of trouble as well. She's an awesome person!

Let's see. Since I have unlimited money, I'd give my family enough so none of them have to work ever again. Also want to make sure that they can afford enough gas for their cars!
Then I'd go out and buy the biggest and the sharpest motorcycle I could find. I would spend the first 20 hours with my family. Then I'd say goodbye, hop on the motorcycle and ride west for the remaining 4 hours of my life, stopping for beer along the way...

i am not a bible believer.
i have a question for those of you who are bible believers.
if you believe that jesus is not god, how do you justify the following:.
The fact is that the Bible does make statements that are contradictory. That's what gives rise to a lot of confusion.
I think that says it best Alan. That's why people can read the same Bible and come up with two or more different conclusions. This is an ongoing debate and a big reason why I have a problem with the Bible. I personally believe that the Bible was written by men, without divine intervention.
And it's been mentioned here and it has always puzzled me. If Jesus is God than why does he have two personalities? The mean and vengeful God of the Old Testament and then the kind and loving God of the New Testament? And for those on the other side of this debate, how can God and Jesus, his son, be on the same page with humankind if they are both so different in personality?

I took my name from Steve McQueen's character from the movie "The Great Escape." There was a famous scene in that movie that had McQueen attempting to escape from the Germans on his motorcycle.
I love motorcycles and I consider my disassociation from the WTS to be my Great Escape!!!

Nope, don't have it! Although I thought I had it once. I used to work with this lady a few years ago. She always wore long dresses and shoes, even on dress down days and the weekends. I heard her mention the Bible and God and thought to myself, "Ah Ha, a JW!!!"
Turns out I was wrong. I later found out that the lady was a Born-Again Christian...Oops, my bad...

There were several reasons why I eventually left. But the final straw was when I started going to college and the elders and "friends" gave me a hard time about it. When I asked the elders, several times, to show me where it says in the Bible that I shouldn't go to college, they couldn't. So they all gave me the cold shoulder and I left...
i was in heavy doubt about the organization, but still in the back of my mind i was a bit hesitant of posting because it was the "unforgivable sin".
i think it took me 20 minutes to type my first post.
i still felt that once i submitted my post that a bolt of lightning was going to come down upon me, so my hands were shaking as i was typing.
Never feel that you are alone with how you feel. That's what drew me here. Finally people who understood what I was talking about and how I felt. VALIDITY. A huge step towards healing.

That book scared the hell out of me as a kid!!!
I would have to say that the picture of Job, sitting there with those awful, oozing sores all over his body was tops on my list. Also the one with those mean giants beating on normal sized people and stealing their food. And I have to agree too that the one of Abel lying on the ground with blood flowing from his head, after Cain wacked him, is on my list too.

i've read comments from those of you that still cling to the bible stating that there's no merit in the di vinci code's claim concerning the conference in nicea in 325. we all know that book is fiction but like all great fiction, there's some truth behind the story.
some of you have made statements that the nt was actually written by the apostles, which i refuted, and after asking for and not reciveing information from you believers any bible scholars anywhere that would go on record saying they believed the nt was in fact written by the apostles; i decided to researcht he subject on my own.
i could find no scholars that believed the apostles wrote the nt; as a matter of fact, they all said the apostles couldn't have written them.
