Weren't all the JWs at an assembly inland away from N Orleans so they were all saved?
Or did that happen at the Tsunami - All the faithful were inland at a meeting so they didn't drown.
Mom was explaining to me how Jah saved the wits by having them in a safe place.

Did you say "I love you?"
by serendipity ini grew up in an emotionally constipated family.
my parents didn't hug us or tell us they loved us.
they were slightly affectionate with each other, but i don't think i ever heard them express their love for each other, in front of us kids.

I can't remember ever hearing those words growing up. No natural affection at all in my immediate family. However, when we visited my father's family it was all hugs and kisses. It did feel a bit uncomfortable to me as my mother's family was rather cold and I was around them more.
When my kids came along I made sure to tell them often. My son is a very affection person and still does say it often but my daughter and I live together and I'd have to say we show it more than say it. -

Do you still call it "the truth"?
by True North indo you find youself still calling it "the truth" even though you are an ex-jw?
for instance, in one posting i just read, the poster wrote "when i was in the truth..." .
not a big deal, perhaps, but really not such a good thing either as it's a habitual holdover from the program of mental conditioning we were subject to.

I feel my blood pressure spike when JWs refers to it as the truth. I usually try to bite my tongue but one time during a discussion with my mom, a non-JW sis and several nephews someone called it the truth and I blurted out "It's NOT the truth." I usually refer to it as the Religion or the Society (sounds more like something sinister). I call it a church to non-family non-JWs. Someone mentioned using Brother or Sister so and so. I have had difficulty with this - I don't want to use that but I'm hesitant to use Mr. or Ms. especially when talking to my parents. If I can remember first names I will use first & last names instead of Bro or Sis. I've noticed that here on JWD it doesn't bother me if someone calls it the truth because I know they know it's not.

rare memorial attendance for 1928
by cultswatter inhttp://www.sektenausstieg.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=310&itemid=29.
the memorial attendance for 1928 is listed as 17,380. this shows that at least 75% percent of the watchtower members left after rutherford lied to them.. i was wondering where the above site gets it's source from ??
i always thought the wts was embarrased to publish numbers when there was a decrease.. maybe someone of you know what wts publication these numbers came from?.

Do you think the drop from 1925 - 1928 may have been because the "End" didn't come in 1925 as promised by the WTS??? - - Kind of like what happened after the 1975 failed prophesy.

I very vaguely recall my father explaining to me about 50 yrs ago they died so that Adam would understand what death was and what would happen to him if he ate the forbidden fruit.

I'm new to Phoenix and have done a little exploring but hardly touched the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I have been going on some ranger led hikes in some of the local parks. The Sonoran Desert is impressive. You may want to plan to come here anytime except summer. The monsoon season is from July through September and the thunderstorms & dust storms can get pretty wicked. We have lots of snow birds in town during the winter. If you like sports a lot of the baseball teams practice here in the Spring. The mountains in Sedona are impressive but they have turned the town part into a tourist trap. If you like all those little shops you would like it. (I'm not a shopper) The Grand Canyon is just a few hours drive north. Tucson is about 100 miles south. I hear the Desert Museum just outside Tucson is really nice.
