Okay, here's my story.

hey all.. first of all i want to say that i am really impressed by the warm atmosphere that this board provides.

i remember when i was little and we learned about non-witnesses, and they were portrayed as children-eating, blood-drinking criminals.

okay, i exaggerate, but the connotations were there!.

I don't know if the pain from family rejecting you ever goes away, but you will find people to bring into your life that will become your family. It sounds nightmarish with the elders, but I am not surprised. You should have heard the ridiculous grilling I got when I went before them at age 10 to tell them about the sexual abuse I was suffering at the hands of one of their own. I hate that whole arrangement.

You have found a good place to come and be comfortable and to speak freely...something you are never encouraged or allowed to do with the JW's.

Sounds like you have a solid life...enjoy it...and you are making a mockery of the dubs belief that apart from the organization you cannot possibly have a good life.

he has been reinstated and only just told me because he felt i could not understand!

he says he is living 2 lives, 1 with me and his non witness friends and 1 with his jw's.

he says he loves me but i dont understand?

Poor girl! I played the fence when I was young & dumb...and I broke my guy's heart. I was just too deep into the doctrine to break free for anyone. It is a losing situation for you. Cut your losses and run, run, run far away from him and the witnesses.

How would you describe yourself since leaving the borg?

for me i found myself more involved politically and in community and business affairs.

not as cynical as i once was and not as judgemental as when i was a jw.

also more empathetic about people and finally able to see some beauty in the world.

My feelings have been expressed: free, non-judgmental, happy, alive, no panic attacks, no wondering why people don't love me, no guilt for going to school, no more asthma attacks from attending meetings in mold-riddled buildings. I also LOVE being single...something I never liked as a dub because of all the pressure to marry.

post watchtower experiencesand other positive thoughtsa survivors tale tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes, there is one thing that all.

of these disasters have in common, and that is they all havesurvivors.. so, to, do human institutions such as concentration camps, prison camps.

and yes, even religious institutions such as the watchtower society.. taking the good out of a bad situation some times individuals will look on the misfortunate circumstances that.

I have a wonderful circle of friends and supporters. I have found people who care about me...something I was missing in the borg. I also found the strength to leave a loveless, horrid marriage to a "nice" JW man.

i have depressingly frequent dreams of being back in the borg.

i am out on the work thinking why am i here i don't do this anymore.

i am in kingdom halls with my mag - underlined!

I have them frequently. I am usually surrounded by people I have known forever and they are whispering about me. When people come up to talk to me I am forced to tell them not to talk to me. All the while, I am feeling panicky & suffocated. The worst part is when my mother appears (she is deceased) and she asks me "why?". Bleh

Well, the panicky & suffocated is how I felt all the time at the thought of being with dubs...now don't have that at all

Religion makes me nauseous. I stay busy and don't think about it. I would classify myself as agnostic.

Df'd for refusing to meet the Trinity because I was suicidal...recovering from two attempts at suicide. Have not looked back...left JW hubby who is & has cheated on me--the Borg loves him! No one knows where I live and I live in a gated community. No regrets for leaving the loveless borginization.

What planted the seed of doubt that lead you to leave or think of leaving?

i've been thinking of this a lot lately.

the following experience ties my first doubt in with my present life.

as a backdrop to this, you should know that i was a 5th generation "raised in the truth" jw through my mother (her great-grandfather got "the truth" from pastor russell).

Most definitely the lack of love. How is df'ing a loving thing? How does that help people who are down & out? How can mere men judge heart conditions & determine true repentance? I saw more hate in the organization than love.
