This is going to be a tough meeting for me

i will be "studying" the chapter about the memorial with my local witness contacts.

as a christian, i find their teachings on christ to be nauseating.. i am looking for a chance to bring out the old russell books and ask them to clear up my confusion about a number of previous teachings.

if anyone thinks of me, and is so inclined, send up a prayer on my behalf for wisdom, clear thinking, and above all that the true love of jesus will shine through me and the spirit will open up some darkened hearts.. ts.

Well I know that not too many of you are interested in this, but I just wanted to say that we had a 2 hour discussion on the Memorial, and brought up many points that we will need to go into at the next meeting about what it means for JWs not to be a part of the New Covenant. I don't think they have ever had a discussion with someone who knew and loved the Bible (or at least not lately). At the end, they spied a pile of old WT books, and so I showed them a variety of books going back in time to Russell. They had never heard of the Great Pyramid teaching before... who knows where this will lead, I hope it will lead them out of the organization. (hope that answers your question Dawg).

perhaps you have been reading this board for awhile, and you may believe some of the things we have been saying, however you are still gripped in fear of armageddon.. .

the wt society has been predicting armageddon for well over 100 years, and when the prophecies fail, they blame you and say "we never said that".

Sorry, I was carried away by my silliness that I forgot to mention:

We were in a wedding recently where there was a step daughter involved. She was the flower girl and the most moving part of the ceremony was when Mom and Dad got down to her level and made vows before God to raise her and love her as their own, and to raise her in a loving, godly home. There was not a dry eye in the room!

Here is some totally practical advice amidst all the warm fuzzies:

As the parent to a number of daughters, my advice is have her mom keep track of the daughter's monthly cycle--interestingly enough, it seems that women who live together often are on a similar cycle (could be genetics?) Anyways, sometimes we would be totally blown away by behaviour issues, and then we would remember "Oh yeah....PMS!" So no, thankfully, our daughter did not just become demon posessed, she is just acting that way for a couple of days. Try living in a house with 4 of them all acting this way at the same time. Someone around here deserves a medal!

PS Remember children are a blessing from the Lord, and happy is the man who has a quiver full, so you two better get cracking after the honeymoon!

i learned yesterday that a local co stated in his talk that comments at the wt study are to be from the page and nothing beyond, per brooklyn.

i wasn't there - this may be merely anecdotal and i cannot verify it at present.

Jeff said no one wants to spend 2 hours at a book study.

So that's why no one wants to come and study the What Does the Bible Really Teach with us!

worst week in my life

last monday my husband, a nice guy, after ranting for a bit about terrorists, came over to me, to kiss me i thought.

he hit my head and then started to choke me, shouting "be healed.

" i managed to get away from him and he kept yelling "be healed" and saying that i was bewitched and had put a curse on him.

I echo the other comments here: what a horrific thing to have to go through!

Is there someone you trust who will come and stay with you,over night as well? You need to be comforted by real people and not just this JWD.

Broken Heart

my almost 17 year old daughter left to stay with her dad last thursday.

this is the second time she has left due to my strict rules, like 10p school day curfue, get to school on time, keep your grades above a c. she has not kept to my rules, so as a consequence i told her this last wednesday night she has lost driving priviledges of the car i gave her on her 16th birthday.

she said she was leaving to live with her dad.

Jill: I'm sorry to hear about what you have been going through! My heart was also broken by a teen aged daughter who made some bad choices and left home too soon. I know the pain that you are feeling and the questions that you are asking--what could I have done differently?

And yet, the strain that we had been living under became apparent as it lifted somewhat once she had made the move. That's not to say that there weren't many troubled moments to follow, but in time, she did realize her mistakes, and it was a very sweet day for us both when she said, "Mom, you were right, I should never have left the way I did, I am sorry, will you forgive me?" The tears of joy that were shed that day made up for the nights of crying when she first left.

I don't know if you have a personal faith anymore, but for me, I cried out to the Lord for strength to get through those days, and I thank Him for sustaining and answering the prayers of a broken mother's heart.

Now, as far as the marriage goes, sexual intimacy is a reflection of the health of the relationship--a thermometer, so to speak. It is an important way to express love and unity to each other. Please seek help with this matter!

Simon, thank you for this website. Where else could I go to have a REAL conversation about doctrinal matters with JWs? The ones who come to my door just get a glazed look in their eyes when we try and discuss things. Here, I get a true glimpse into Witness-ville, and it is a place where I never want to live!
