"JWs" walk out on householder ...
by compound complex ingreetings, friends:.
though it's a dramatization - and we certainly experienced many of those at the kh and assemblies - the witness to a witness by a very knowledgeable born-again christian was a sight to behold.
the "jws" seemed rather unyielding to an amplified understanding of scripture.. .

Yeah, the older guy in that video is a friend of "householder" in that dramatization. If you navigate through that site more and listen to the audio recording of his judicial meetings, you'll hear the voice of the older man as the friend that he brought along as an observer to the judicial meeting. Of course the elders didn't allow him to stay.

Reasoning Point When Dealing With Witness Relatives...
by deaconbluez inone of the common copouts used by witnesses when they are confronted with the real truth about the watchtower is this:.
"oh you've just been talking to apostates and disfellowshipped ones, or you've been reading their literature.
they can't be trusted.".

One of the common copouts used by Witnesses when they are confronted with the real truth about the Watchtower is this:
"Oh you've just been talking to apostates and disfellowshipped ones, or you've been reading their literature. They can't be trusted."
When that comes up, ask them, "Do you believe that Jim Jones, the leader of Peoples Temple (mass suicide cult) was inspired of God?"
They will be quick to say, "Of course not."At this point, you can explain to them that EVERYTHING we know about the inner-workings of Peoples Temple and the evil that went on, comes from ex-members. The real truth about Jim Jones didn't get published or circulated until the media started talking with ex-members of the cult. If not for that outreach, or for them speaking out, they would have probably carried on for much longer. (It was the pressure from media and the authorities that eventually drove Jones to move the cult to South America.)
So to say that NOTHING an ex-JW says is to be trusted would be the same as calling these ex-members of Peoples Temple liars as well, and leaving the possiblity open for Jim Jones to be an inspired prophet of God, as he claimed to be.
Hope this made sense. -

587/607 Question...
by deaconbluez inif the exile wasn't to be 70 years, how is jeremiah 29:10 explained by pro-587 folks?.
10 "for this is what jehovah has said, in accord with the fulfilling of seventy years at babylon i shall turn my attention to you people, and i will establish toward you my good word in bringing you back to this place.. .
also, if it truly was a 70-year period of servitude, and not exile, when was this 70 years served by other nations?.

What is the Best of. . . ?
by Lady Lee inas jwd has grown over the years it has become more difficult to find a particular thread that had some valuable info in it.
i decided to create a a few topics that would help people find the gems that had been posted.. believe me i had no idea what i was getting myself into.. i started by focusing on the many early posters here and dug out their posts.
so the beginning of the project is indexed by a posters name.

Confused...
by millymollymandy inhi, i've been lurking on here for a few days but i have a burning question that needs to be answered so i'm outing myself... .
i'm a non-jw (non-christian, in fact) and i've been in a relationship with a jw for the last five years.
we're both pretty young (early 20s) and he still lives at home with his devoutly jw family.

If you are non-Christian, then it seems your boyfriend would be in violation of 2 Corinthians 6:14-17. But that would be if your boyfriend is a Christian. But if he, like you say, is an active JW, then that would rule that out. So nevermind.

AWAKE magazine published the following statement in every issue prior to November 1995:
“Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.”
After November 1995, the reference to 1914 generation is deleted:
“Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.”

Rolling eyes
by 4mylove ini've always noticed that when jw's, my inactive hubby included, notice someone is christian, they hate it.
they roll their eyes, snort, or make snide remarks.
i really pissed me off once when my mom in law told my hubby that if she had known why the older ladies wanted to by some of her plants for, she wouldn't have sold them to them.

Jehovah's Witnesses reject Christ in every way, so it makes sense that they feel resentment toward true Christians. Every year, they even meet together and purposely pass the bread and wine, taking pride in their NOT partaking as Jesus said to do. It is humorous that by doing this, they unwittingly reject Jesus.

The bible and israel
by jacethespace inas jehovahs witnesses we were told over and over that jws are gods modern day servants today and jehovahs using us to bring salvation to the world.we were also told that the words israel and jerusalem in prophecy for our day refer to spiritual israel and jerusalem, not fleshly israel.. but does bible prophecy show that?
especially in the old testament.. we know how charles taze russell traveled to israel to try and figure out whether they were gods chosen people still.this is highlighted especially in the jws proclaimers book.and the watchtower believed that israel were still gods people up until the 30s [ if anybody has any info on this and dates please let me know as im not sure when they dropped this belief exactly].charles taze russell in fact sent tracts to israel and the jews telling them that they could look forward to salvation.intresting point is that this was after jesus had apparently give his approvall to the faithfull and discrete slave channel.. zechariah 12:2 says behold i will make jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about.when they shall be in the siege both against jerusalem and against judah.12:3- and in that day will i make jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.. is this prophecy being fullfilled today through literal israel?.
but the most intresting chapter of zechariah is chapter 14 which speaks of the lords day and jesus second coming.it says:.
