Franz was the last of the real thinkers on the Governing Body. He was more talented as a writer than he was as an administrator. When he died, the organization took on a much more elementary approach at everything, watering down the publications with a 3rd grade reading comprehension. Some say that the "Daniel" book was written by Franz before he died, but they just waited 7 years to release it. If you notice, it is completely different from any publication, post-Franz. It even has his creative touch to it. The Isaiah books, which are supposed to be similar to the "Daniel" book, are comletely different, unexciting, not theologically deep at all...completely different.

Jehovah's Witnesses Meet The Truth Fairy!
by anewme ini just saw an awesome video on you tube!
a funny spoof of the typical door to door experience with jws from the householder's perspective.
this bold and funny gal (exjw) created an educational video exposing some of the weird ideas the witnesses promote.

If you are having trouble finding the video, The exact title
is: "Jehovah's Witnesses Encounter Truth Fairy". I'm not sure this video is entirely fair... every witness I know would readily admit that the cross was once used as a symbol. It's in the PROCLAIMERS book for goodness sake. When encountered at the door with this objection, no JW well-read in their own literature would claim it was an "apostate lie" that the cross was used. The shunning thing... Well, I guess some witnesses might be dense enough to deny that disfellowshiping = shunning, but when pressed, I think they would admit they are effectively the same, and agree that "not talking" to a DF is Org policy, not a personal choice. The video makes some very valid points, and even a few funny ones, but overall, I find the video slightly bitter and uninformed, with an unpleasant aftertaste of the pedantic and preachy. I LIKE parody. I think the absurdity of Witness thought and behavior is a rich well of mostly untapped humor, and I very much enjoy a well done and witty expose of such absurdity and the underlying nasty ego required to be loyal witness... However, for parody to work, it has to be insightful. I guess living 25 years disconnected from the witnesses has left the maker of this video with only a tenuous grasp of the nuances of witness thought, and what is left is a caricature shell of lingering anger and injustice. I hope making this video made her feel better, becuase I sure don't.Yeah, I know what you mean. Perhaps it was intended to be one of those parodies that employs intentional exaggeration.

Yeah that's Brenda Lee. She has a regular newsletter that she sends out to subscribers. She also wrote a book that has helped lots of people. She is a very pleasant, well written woman. She also made a video and posted it on YouTube of her and some friends going to a Memorial at a Kingdom Hall where she made an effort to be seen eating the unleavened bread and drinking the wine. I think that was in poor taste and showed a bit of immaturity on her part.

Looking for on Gilead Missionary School
by Doug Mason ini am looking for information regarding the gilead missionary school.
1. is its role limited to preparing couples for missionary work, or does it provide doctrinal teaching beyond that scope?
2. is the syllabus designed and vetted only by members of the fds?
-

The syllabus for the program is written by members of the Governing Body. It is a program that they use for years at a time, and then making changes where they see fit.
One of the most outstanding features of Gilead school is that each student goes through a rigorous study program of the Bible itself, and they are even required to memorize whole chapters and be able to recite them by way of exam. There is much language training that also goes on at the school, but its more of a supplemental training for people who are already semi-fluent in a specific language. The rest is like Pioneer School multiplied by 10. As you may know, Pioneer School is basically just like a year of Service Meetings crammed into 2 or 3 days, with organizational instruction given on every topic imaginable.
The goal of Gilead school is to prepare Witnesses for preaching overseas, mainly in developing countries. -

FORGIVENESS
by tula inare you obligated to forgive someone.
......if they do not ask for forgiveness.
......if they show no remorse for the transgression.
-
deaconbluez
Don't know if you're a Christian or not, but if so, did Jesus list any stipulations when he explained forgiveness in the Sermon on the Mount? And when he prayed to his Father to forgive the ones putting him to death, had he been shown any evidence of remorse on their part?

Just another URBAN LEGEND
by TopHat inafter the prayer, the circuit overseer slowly .

There's another one that gets passed around at conventions as if it happened in YOUR circuit!
A family decides to build a new house (insinuating materialism), and because of all the work involved, they started missing more meetings. One Thursday night (meeting night) while they stayed home to do some painting on the house, their daughters were riding bikes. One of the little girls ends up getting hit by a car. The father runs over to pick up her body and she dies in her arms while he screams "WHY OH WHY WEREN'T WE AT THE MEETING?! IF WE WERE THERE, THIS NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!" And the speaker always says something psuedo-chilling at the end of the story like, "And now you can bet that the family never misses a meeting....but there's always an empty seat on their row where their daughter used to sit."
The mindless drones fall for it every time. -

They enlisted the help of a lobbyist to help fight for religious freedom, as true Christians in the "last days" are supposed to do!

Wow this is a great find! I'm gonna call the lobbyist tomorrow as on-air interview and ask if they would mind telling what capacity they were being used in as lobbyists for the WT.
