Yes, I remember that day, I feel sick to my stomach even now remembering it,,one of the those immobilizing days,,I felt for all there at that meeting,,my brother finished his "4" a couple months before that & left Bethel but he would have been there with you at that (beating) meeting. It took a tremendous lot of courage for all of you there. I was in the same congregation as the Barnes in Staten Island and travelled with them then. Oh how I wished to leave Bethel then,,but it was engrained in my (mind-controlled) brain to complete the "4 years" as I had originally signed up to do. I had no illusion that Knorr ruled and would not like that needed meeting at all. I was there '69-'74.

by new boy inblack thursday september 1972. knorr gathered all the bethel "heavies" and gb to the kh in the 119 building.
the three freds (circuit overseers).............and about 50 brothers.....thats right only 50. the other guys chickened out, they knew it was going to be a blood bath.
i was there with 7 others from the launrdy............... it started out with dan smoally (not even 30 years old and partaking) telling about what max larson (head of the whole factory) told him "there was no way he was one of the anointed!

i was raised as a jw from the time i was 5 years old.
i am now 46 and was df'd in 1976 or 1977 i can't remember.

Glad you have found this site..there are so many in that type of WT "limbo", not in the WT but still under the JW "warp". This site and others will help you clear your brain that the WT messed up when you were young. Life will always be a sorting and challenging process but now we can have positive mental freedom. My JW mom just passed away............
by troubled mind inmy mom died last wednesday.
we buried her monday .
i am a bit numb still , she had been in ill health and i had tried to prepare myself for this day .

My sincere sympathy to you and your family. I understand your loss.
My Mom (a JW) died at 43 yrs old of cancer in 1970. We then were comforted that soon the end was coming and she would be resurrected soon. Of course, the end was coming by 1975. During the next 10 years about , we (my siblings) had to re-evaluate everything. We five grown kids all left the WT (4 of us had been Bethelites),and including our Dad. I believe now, she has been in a better place all these years, heaven. That we all came out of the WT around the same time in our different ways is amazing, & I sometimes wonder could Mom have somehow inspired us in that re-evaluation.

I just ordered one. $35 with shipping. I thought I better see it before I decide to write to universities, libraries & museums, showing it starting in April. Do you think people seeing the film will be more open to listen to JWs if they see it on TV? Could this cause an increase in JW Bible studies and increase to baptisms later? Should I be concerned? My gut is concerned. Please give us any critiquing along the way.

Anti-witnessing
by Highlander induring my time as a j-dub, it was encouraged to take every opportunity to informal witness with people.
a good example would be to witness to a co-worker.. i avoided this as much as possible when i was a dub.
if the topic of religion came up at work i would try to change the topic or gracefully exit the conversation.. now that i'm far removed from this cult, i find myself taking every opportunity i can to anti-witness against the j-dubs.

I've talked to many about my JW life experience.. When I talk about JW disfellowshipping,,they say, "You mean, all I have to say to the JWs when they come to the door is, 'I've been disfellowshipped" and they'll leave?...WooooHoooo!!!!" They all say they'll try it! :)
My husband (never a JW) tried it a month ago when two young men came to our house .... he said he "was disfellowshipped & that he was anxious to tell them the real truth' & was humored, as they took off so fast. Truly, they don't even try to "overcome" that "objection."

HLC shows favoritism
by seek2find inmy family had an experiance where a family member was to have a serious medical procedure in a different city from where they lived.
we thought they would get good suport from the hlc in that town.

I know that's possible,,However, I wondering if the individual elders on HLC are weakening. With all these fractions being okay now and possibility of future lawsuits on them, maybe they are not "gung-ho" on their responsibility or position. I don't envy their spot for sure. They are caught between the "Devil (WT Society) and the deep blood sea".

Possibly enough talent and looks like a lot of fun. However, the Society (their brothers) will at some point counsel them to be out in door-to- door instead of wasting their time with such productions.
