The U.S.S.R. imploded with dramatic final end. Their people were broke, in tremendous food lines, etc. Their youth, free-thinkers, progressive people rejoiced when it ended. The old people still miss the old way, they want to be taken care of like the old way promised them. The old JWs will want the mind-numbing programs the rest of their lives and spend hours and hours of empty-talk promising to take their problems away and cling to a 'la-la' future, instead of taking charge to improve their lives with education and developing realistic skills of survival. The JW youth are fleeing thankfully more and more, the old parents rejecting their own children, only to leave themselves into more despair. The headquarters is trying to sell old buildings now that no one can or will buy right now. The cash isn't rolling in as before. It may be a 'slow' imploding more than dramatic.

The Watch Tower will implode
by Hiddenwindow ini honestly believe that the watch tower's insistence in silencing disent will eventually destroy it.
no one knows at this point how many doubters and closet apostates are still inside.
and the wt itself is unable to identify most of them.

How long did the Conference call last after all? I had a big early day at work yesterday but did conference in later. It started at 5pm (MST) and still going on I think past 9 pm? I fell asleep after awhile. I enjoyed Reed's comments. I read some of his newsletters years ago which clearly and pointed exposed JW history and teachings.
Ravyn's comments still have me perplexed, muddling, pondering. Thursday evening, at our Meetup group, I asked about the issue that this Ms. Ravyn was to be on the Conference call and the thought of "Satan Ritual" within the WT Bethel was quite an extreme stretch. I guess I will have to think about this longer. Can't say I believe her totally, can't say I've dismissed it totally either. She does sound sincere in her believing it. I was there at Bethel '69-'74. I knew most of the people she listed. Her description of some of the personalities were accurate, although most of those are a common knowledge (Fred Franz, kind of strange, Knorr- mean, Marina Sylik, pretty, she said Swingle was sweet, I don't know about that- he asked me one time the 'name of the cute little 'Nigger' gal around', a missionary student there then - floored me as I never heard a JW use that term in all the about 30 years there I was in the organization). I will probably listen to it again when I have time again and more awake when it goes on Rick Fearon's site.

WT: Dumbing down the message; no intellectuals allowed
by Hiddenwindow inhave you noticed that the most recent publications by the watch tower, and particularly the study articles of the watchtower magazine, contain less and less references to secular sources?
there is not doubt that the society was always making efforts to provide us with a historical and quasi-intellectual perspective of the world.
i am sure all of you can think of books by the watch tower that contained extensive information on history, biology, and even philosophy (insight, creation book, the bible -god's word or man's?
-

Well, they sure can't try to quote any references like they used to to try to prove a JW point. Now, we can relatively easily reference anything (via Internet) they try to quote and find the facts, get to the source and discover and expose how they quote only a part out of context, misrepresenting the facts and outright twist the point completely.

How Life Can Change
by Sunspot ini don't come by here very often any more (trying to wean myself away from this board in anticipation of when we cannot ever post any more.
in the last couple of years, and leaving this mess in jesus' hands, things have not only begun to emerge as "fixable", but have most definetely been fixed at long last.
i was invited to the youngest grandchild's (of this son) sweet 16 birthday party last summer and i teared up when i realized that this was the first birthday party of all three of these grandchildren that i had attended.. we have been invited to thanksgiving dinner ( for the fourth year) with our whole family and that of my dil's family (she is one of seven) and to spend a few days at christmas at another son's home.

I love happy endings, I mean, happy beginnings! It's wonderful to hear that true family love survives and wins, even when cults try to destroy so much of what is good. So many best wishes to you and yours!

Even if its not the truth its still the best way of life!
by mtsgrad incomplete the following:.
even if its not the truth...... .
.
-
Gayle
Whoa, whoa, whoa . . . . .
Even if it is not the truth, it is still better to spend a million of your unproductive hours of your life going door to door, to try to get people to do the same anyway?
Even if it is not the truth, it is still better to spend your hours of your life preparing for hours of meetings that are not the truth weekly, monthly, yearly, decade after decade anyway?
Even if it is not the truth about blood transfusion being against God, it is better for you to just die or your child to die anyway?
Even if it is not the truth about friends or family that don't want anything to do with this untruth, that you just shun them anyway?
Even if it is not the truth, it is better not to go to college anyway?
Even if it is not the truth, that should never enjoy a celebration of your child's birthday or your aging parent's 80th birthday anyway?
Even if it is not the truth, that you should never vote about any community issue, tax issue, etc, even though you must pay taxes, better that you should still never have a valued voice anyway?
If you think "if its not the Truth, its still the best way of life", then you must be a Jehovah's Witness!

How Can A Religion That Predicts "The End" Every Few Yrs. Maintain Members?
by minimus inif your religion cried wolf every new generation and they've been doing that since the 19th century!!!!
!, how could you possibly believe anything that's said?.
"the end" was supposed to come actually in 1799, i believe and the same core group still maintain it'll be here.. are jehovah's witnesses that "dumb"?

1. Many groups hate this life. They cannot accept this life, cannot embrace the blessings, nor find a good purpose with the reality of this life as it is. 2. Therefore, they 'need' an "End" believing in the "END" creates in them that they are a 'special select', wiser, with more goodness, how can they possibly give up that feeling of 'special' above all others. 3. It helps them also to justify their belief that all others (who see the scam) who do not accept their belief, will be destroyed soon.

email I received from a JW
by jwfacts inmost of the emails i receive to jwfacts.com are from doubting jws wanting to express their appreciation for the information.
occasionally i receive emails from active jws and although a couple have engaged in intelligent conversation, the following email i received this morning is a very good example of what jws send me.
you're bloody liars, go learn the real truth!.

Gayle
I got a hateful email from a JW a couple months ago. Ironically, he got my email address on a ex-Bethelite site on Randy Watters site, where he as a JW is suppose not to be going. I responded and noted this and never heard from the person again.

Just remembered: Oct. 26, 1963, I was baptized. I was 11!!
by Seeker4 inwow.
it was 45 years ago yesterday that i was baptized a jw.
back when you weren't baptized to an organization.. i was 11. went to a circuit assembly in massachusetts with another jw family (circuit ma #3 at the time), and honest to god, we stayed at the pioneer motel!.

I was 11 also when baptized. I was there for 25+ years. Move on, yes, I have done that. Not look back at those 25+ yrs of my life? Why not? Maybe we are not to forget though. Maybe we represent "a story that must be told." That is my resolve.
