Your mother has picked her path so let her be. 18 yrs from now you will have to answer to the path you presented for your daughter. Provide a free mind, with all education available, unconditional love, security, fun and reality for her. She will be so thankful. I raised 5 (2 daughters and 3 sons), free of Watchtower dominance and not much baggage (they were raised that way when small). All 5 have completed college now, none baptized JW but they know my story well and why their freedom meant so much to me.

Would you tell the in-laws?
by homeschool inlong story short: i threw a bday party for my newly faded hubby a few weeks ago.
well, one of the guests ran into hubby's jw father & said "yeah, it was great to hang out with ___________ @ his birthday party the other day!
" (to which the jw father later told us he acted totally cool and went along with it but was like .

No need to tell in-laws,, Just move on with your children, your future,,the in-laws have made their lives and choices..sounds like they realize you've moved on,,going to do your life,,since they are still talking with you, that's as fine as can be.

I feel for these JWs. They are so desperate to have fun, understandably. However, watch out,, they will be counselled about this later at some point.

Guys I've been browsing other ex sites (Ex-Mormons, Ex-Scientologist) to see if they have anything near our experience and look what I found
by StoneWall inbeing born and raised a jw i didn't think any other religion or group of people could come close to having to deal.
with what we do as far as loosing family, friends, workmates etc.
because of beliefs.. when i read on ex-mormon and ex-scientologist sites it makes me sad that they too are going thru some horrendous.

Yes, it is amazing the same devastation to some degree or another to ex-cult members. I have seen ex-Amish site. I just read a true life story of an OOM, old-order Mennonite woman. Their shunning tactics are very similar and a heartbreak for most.

This would not be my style of placards, etc (so old 20th century). Now, being of the 21 century, I'd like seeing a big LED sign- neon colors (maybe with balloons :) )), scrolling certain messages like:
JW children alert - silentlambs.org
Blood/fraction contradiction - ajwrb.org
False prophecy 1914 ( other dates) - freeminds. org or jwfact.com or others
Go to College
etc., etc.

Relapse: I'm considering returning to the Kingdom Hall.
by Blue Grass ini'm a long time lurking of this site(2 years) and a first time poster.
to provide a little background of myself i was not raised as a witness but started studying when i was 19 and got baptized at age 21. a few months after i was baptized i left due to the constant worship of the faithful and discreet slave and the lack of emphasis on christ.
for reasons i'm not sure about yet i decided to attend the district convention last week.

Look up local Christian Bible study groups and also young Christian single adult groups in your area. You clearly state what you don't believe as JWs do. Wouldn't it be unfair, even dishonest for you to get into a relationship with a JW girl and then later get into those issues that you don't believe. You'd be setting yourself and somewhat else up for heart ache. You definitely should not be a hermit, especially at your age. Get out and try those new areas of church study groups and young single adult groups. Try learning new things, taking classes of your interest. I am sure you will find many young people that you can be true and honest with.

I read that there are 5 million blood transfusions a year in the U.S. The U.S. population is about 306 million. That percentage rate comes to 1.63%. That is, if an individual receives only one transfusion. So, say each patient may need an average of 3 transfusions per patient/case. With that percentage adjustment (.0054 - a third of 1.63%) and that in the U.S. the Watchtower reported 2008 peak publishers was 1,105,789 (***please keep in mind this would not be including 'non-publisher JWs', like their small children and infants). Then potentially, 5,971 U.S. JWs would have to deal with blood issue yearly. How many of those die annually because of refusal to take blood? Half? A thousand? Five hundred? Too many!!! 2008 worldwide JWs publishers show 7,124,443 publishers. At the same rate (.0054), potentially 38,472 JWs worldwide annually, could be dealing with the blood issue. How many die for refusing the blood that would otherwise have a good chance to live? It's just numbers, that cannot be proved absolutely. But the potential is staggering. Dangerous cults like Jim Jones had about 900 die and Koresh (Waco) cult had 75 die for their religious beliefs and yet Jehovah's Witnesses still are not considered dangerous by most people. Amazing-sickening! If you can give me any other informational statistics, I would appreciate it.

Trouble in Amish Paradise
by Yizuman ini just finished watching the video of the show and i am very surprised that the amish is a cult just like the jws and the mormons and so on.. it was a real eye opener.. i'm glad the main person ephram was able to find the real truth about the amish cult and found the real truth and that is jesus christ.. he got ex-communicated for many reasons.. reading the bible in english other than their standard bible which is in german, in which case alot of them can't understand it.
reading a non-german language bible is forbidden.
(sounds like a control group).
