Anyone seen a Memorial talk outline?
by undercover inif i remember correctly, someone last year posted the memorial talk outline a week or so before the memorial.. does anyone have access to this year's outline?
.
i'm curious because of the new wt article that basically backs away from teaching that the 144,000 were all chosen by 1935. i'd like to see how it is mentioned in this year's talk because, as we all know, the memorial talk is more about the anointed and how they alone partake than it is about jesus..

With friends like these.......
by Gill infifteen british military personnel are taken captive by our supposed enemy, iran, and taken care of very well by all appearances for 12 days.. british football fans go to rome and many innocent ones amongst them have the living bejeebeez beaten out of them by maniacal baton wielding roman policemen!.
makes you wonder doesn't it!
with friends like these, who needs enemies?.

Gill, UEFA will investigate (hopefully...).
We do not know what happened before the match and as Rafa Benitez said when asked about the incident, it is difficult to judge sitting in front of TV.
One thing is for sure, earlier this season a policeman was killed in Italy by Italian hooligans. I guess policemen are now scared and prefer to attack rather than being attacked (I do not justify this attitude).
Out of their home country (where the problem of hooliganism is sort of managed) some English fans are not exactly mild, add to the fact that Roma fans are among the worst in Italy...

Memorial 2007
by Ténébreux inwell i just got back from the memorial, after being dragged along somewhat reluctantly.
during the talk, one statement in particular caught my attention which i hadn't heard previously.
the speaker was explaining why probably no-one there should be partaking of the matzo and wine, because on the night of the passover jesus began selecting his 144000 heavenly co-rulers starting with the 11 apostles who were present - and that from then on, most of jesus' other followers just observed and did not partake, recognizing that they were of the earthly class.

*** it-2p.270Lord’sEveningMeal***
Partakers andOtherAttendersattheMeal. Jesus had gathered his 12 apostles, saying to them: “I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.” (Lu 22:15) But John’s eyewitness account indicates that Jesus dismissed the traitorous Judas before instituting the Memorial meal. During the Passover, Jesus, knowing that Judas was his betrayer, dipped a morsel of the Passover meal and handed it to Judas, instructing him to leave. (Joh 13:21-30) Mark’s account also intimates this order of events. (Mr 14:12-25) During the Lord’s Evening Meal that followed, Jesus passed the bread and the wine to the 11 remaining apostles, telling them to eat and drink. (Lu 22:19, 20) Afterward he spoke to them as “the ones that have stuck with me in my trials,” a further indication that Judas had been dismissed.—Lu 22:28.

Truth-be-told, I would be closed to them, but they
actually never tried to open a discussion. If they would just try, I would give them the excuse they need to
stop trying again.OTWO, any particular reason why you do not want to help them to see the truth about the truth?

DF for celebrating Birthdays??
by lrkr inhas anyone ever heard of someone being dfd for celebrating their or their childrens birthday???.
(my first post- took a lot to work up the courage- i'll tell more details later).

I do not think you would get disfellowshipped for celebrating it once. you could if your start claiming that your will always celebrate it as the Bible does not clearly condemn it and you start going around advertising it and saying that it is a conscience matter, etc... as jwfacts said is very much a matter of your attitude.
I agree when he says to play innocent (but here it depends for how long you have been studying, if you are a long time jw it would be rather difficult to support this argument ;) )

This year we had silence during the passing.
we too, but I guess it was coincidence as the outline (till last year) did say you may speak or remain silent during passing of the emblems. as soon as I see this year's outline I'll let you know if any changes (from the talk I guess that if there were any they weren't major).
