Since nobody can concretely prove the existence of a God either for or against... wouldn't that make everyone Agnostic by default?

There is no such thing as Agnosticism. Agnostics do not exist!
by nicolaou inmany here seem to believe that the position of agnosticism is somehow more reasonable than theism or atheism.
nonsense!
it is a misconception to believe that belief or non-belief in the existence of god/s are the two extremes which glare at each other over the fence of agnosticism.

Has anyone ever questioned Rev 7:9 or 19:1 in the Hall?
by A-Team ini wonder what was your reaction when reading these two scriptures, especially when you were a witness?

Since mankind's fall from perfection God's throne/blessing has been removed from the human race. After Armageddon God's throne/blessing will once again be accessible to all mankind, but still only in a spiritual sense.
Really, so long as the society has published -anything- referencing a scripture that will soothe the minds of most dubs. -

Well, a bit of an update. I'm still trying to get my wife out of the organization, or at least to stop the half hearted adherence to the strict rules when it comes to our children.
After our last rather heated discussion where we realized that this issue might actually break us up I haven't approached the subject much at all. In this time she still hasn't been to any meetings but has taken up a few "little" things.
She puts on the WTS's bible story tapes for the kids to fall asleep listening to.
Semi-informal witnessing to our neighbor about the blood issue
Saying the prayer at supper time for the children.
Then she tells me about all the cute little things like the kids holding hands for the prayer, and how great it is that our neighbor was curious about witness teachings.
She knows exactly how I feel, I have the book "Crisis of Conscience" on my bedside table. It seems she thinks that if she does these little things she might entice me to tolerate it? I have no clue.
Usually I have no issue with confrontation with co-workers or strangers, but I'm having a really hard time with this. I still love her, but I realize that this issue might actually split us apart so I continue to read here and just keep getting frustrated with the blatant lies that she takes in without question. It is so hard to bring up a discussion that will hurt her, but if I don't our children will continue to be confused.
My son saw a little animated Santa on a web page and pointed and said:
"Look! There's Santa!"
He paused then added "We don't like Santa"
I asked him why we don't like Santa and after thinking for a while he just shrugged and said "I don't know, mama doesn't like him"
This is precisely the reason I want to protect the children from this. They don't go to halls, or service and have no witness friends so they are completely confused as to why they can't be like every other kid.
Well a couple nights ago I went over to our neighbor's house to show a cool new smart phone I was evaluating from work to her husband. We talked for a while and I unloaded all my frustrations about my wife keeping up the "Witness vibe".
I should mention that our neighbor is my wife's best friend (worldly) and they remarked that we really didn't seem like most of the witnesses they knew and found it rather awkward around the holidays and birthdays. We talked for a bit and I explained to them exactly what the beliefs were supposed to be and the selective things that my wife is still holding onto.
She also remarked that my wife seemed to drift in and out of a trance when she was talking about witness issues and seemed a different person. I gave her some light ammo and I think she's going to help me in making some cracks. I really think she'd do better, because I must be blinded by apostate teachings and therefore my wife can dismiss anything I say about organization.
My son has a birthday coming up and for the first time in my life, I really want to do something. If she's going to say prayers and play bible studies, I can't see why I can't take them for a birthday supper or something.
The absolute worst part was that when she was witnessing to our neighbor she didn't have any information about blood fractions. It's laughable, she hasn't been to a meeting in so long, that doctrine has changed and she doesn't know it.
Until such I time I should make her wear a hat when praying for the children since it isn't proper for a woman to offer prayer when there's a baptized male in the house. Hehehe, that would irk her to no end. -

Baptism Candidates
by FadingAway inat dcs, sads, or cas, do they know beforehand how many baptismal candidates there will be?
i recall on another thread where the brother gving the baptism talk ask them to stand and no one stood up.
could anyone then go and sit in the front row and go through with baptism without having to answer the questions or even have studied?.

Demon1: 'sup Satan how's it going?
Satan: Not bad, those pesky witnesses still defying me 'n stuff
Demon1: yeah, that's gotta be annoying, say got any new assignments today
Satan ruffles through some papers.
Satan: Hmmm, not much. It appears all the good "smurf" possession jobs are taken
Satan: I do have a position for possessing a watch? Want it?
Demon1: Aw man, a watch?
Satan: Think of it, it'd be great! You can change time so people are late for meetings!
Demon1: Pffft, I bet he'd throw me off a bridge or something.
Satan: Bah, what are the chances? -

Sleeping during meetings
by darth frosty ini was just remembering some of the great sleep i used to get at the meetings.
towards the end i would sleep while reading for the bookstudy and the watchtower lesson.
who can top that?

My father would always nod off at almost every meeting. He also had no "quiet" voice so we'd nudge him and whisper "Dad, wake up" and he's say at normal volume "I'm not sleeping!"
We'd only nudge him when he started snoring. :D -

More JW Folklore, Enjoy
by moomanchu insent to me by my jw relatives.. is this for real ??????????

Old story, he used to be a biker. Hells Angels I think.
Oh and the Japanese language is made up of phonetics and their own braille language maps to Japanese. Braille isn't a universal language of the blind but rather a tactile representation of the language you can understand.
I'm sure the Korean Brothers showed remarkable appreciation for the Japanese Braille books. -

If they were smart, they could use this as an excuse to toss out the blood doctrine.
Dear Brothers,
By now many of you have heard of the hardships being endured by our brothers and sisters in France. In October of 2004 Satan hardened the hearts of the judges in France's Supreme court (Court of Cassation) denying God's earthly organization the rights offered to organizations of Christendom, thusly, the freedom to use the donations to the Worldwide Work in a charitable manner to assist all peoples during times of distress such as natural disasters and to further the Christian preaching work.
This double standard would impose taxes on the free donations of not only faithful members, but also of those given from concerned people in the door to door ministry. These taxes would place an undue hardship on the brothers in France as well as around the world.
The "reasoning" given by the court is that Jehovah's Witnesses do not respect life by our refusal of blood transfusions. As stated by the laws pertaining to the criteria for a non-profit organization, they are using a obscure clause to classify our dedication to Jehovah in keeping our bodies pure as fanatical behavior.
We have attempted to minister and reason with the French officials but Satan has blinded their eyes and made them deaf.
As such we have no choice but to adapt our presentation of our stance on blood transfusions. Effective immediately we are discontinuing the printing of the Medical Directive and disbanding the Medical Liaison Committee. Does this mean that we are changing our belief on the sanctity of blood? To the contrary, now, more than ever we must keep up the "fine fight of the faith" and remain true to Jah.
This decision to accept or decline a blood transfusion will now be an individual conscience matter. We have plenty of spiritual food that discusses this matter. (ref WTXX, WTXX, etc ad nauseum) Any true Christian faced with this great decision can reflect on the wise council provided and through prayer make a decision that will allow them to stand clean before Jehovah.
This minor change will once again release our brothers in France from their "spiritual bondage" and allow the preaching work to once more go forward, unhindered in this time of the end.
Warm Christian Love,

Plan for happiness that ended up being a trap...
by FlyingHighNow inedited to change thread title: .
so many people, mostly teenagers, but even adults, especially jw's, experience something similar to this song by tracy chapman.
jw's are like naive teenagers in thinking marriage will be a cure all for their depression and loneliness.

My brother is weak willed and got pressured into getting engaged because he wasn't strong enough to break it off. Before the wedding he went to the circuit overseer to ask for direction.
He didn't love his fiancee and was feeling trapped. He asked what to do.
The Circuit Overseer told him that he made a commitment to get married and he needed to follow through. If he didn't he would face Public Reproof.
So now he's trapped in a loveless marriage with a lazy wife that doesn't cook, clean or work. He works 60-70 hours to make ends meet then comes home to make supper, do the laundry and clean the house. Within all this he still goes to every meeting he can while she stays at home spending all their money on junk food and infomercial trash.
Surely Jehovah is blessing his life for heeding that CO's council. -

Who is going to finally expose the WTS for what it really is?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe walls of the wts are finally being cracked but nobody is breaking down the walls.we have the internet exposing all their lies, elders resigning,no new members beside families being baptized, contributions dwindling, teens leaving in droves, and layoffs at the wts headquarters .still, the walls remain intact.the 800 lbs.
gorilla is missing to break down the wall.. we know in 1975 many members left but the wts wall was easily repaired.who will finally break the walls down and how will it happen?
what will it take for a mass exodus?.

It will be red tape that will pull the tower down unless they adapt.
Many governments are pressing more for gay rights and equality for women and other litigious means. What would the JW's do if someone is disfellowshipped for being homosexual then turns around and sues the corporation for discrimination?
When the laws are changed and the society cannot hold onto their discriminatory practices they will either change their policies and face mass exodus or stand defiant and be crippled by lawsuits.
Can you imagine new light saying that women can now become elders, or that homosexuals can get baptized? Really, they have absolute power as long as they are free to make their own laws. When those laws start to get trumped by the governments laws they will start to lose their grip on people's minds and the religion will lose even more.
