The spin is impressive, but her defense statement said that his ride served to warn the British as well. A more accurate statement she should have made would have been "after his ride, when captured, he warned the british" though "taunted" might have been a better choice in word.

Why do the women put up with it?
by JeffT inmy question was sparked by a comment on another board, regarding islamic women.
"exactly; look up the details of the "honor killing" epidemic and the extent to which women are the primary movers and motivators behind the murders is startling.
also, looking at the secular countries that are being threatened by islamic fundamentalism (malaysia, indonesia, egypt, turkey) and woman are at the forefront in returning to wearing the niquab/burka and accepting islamic oppression.

If I'm not mistaken women also make up the "large army" of the WTS. I think it's less about wanting to be oppressed and more about being passionate about their religious belief.

Quandry:
You are right that I have horrible grammar. Most of my online posts are merely opinion or experiences. If someone were to point out gramatical errors, I would thank them and try harder in the future. That said, if I were to launch a public initiative I would recognize my weakness in spelling and grammar and get any written material proofread first.
With that as my weakness, if I disregarded it and posted a picture of myself holding up a sign with a glarring gramatical error in it, would you defend me and say that it is my way of making a point?
I considered letting this slip, but I always delight when a person chastises someone else for spelling and grammar while missing some in their own post. :)

It's sad that your wife is wanting to stay 'in' ,,, as your story ended quite sadly (but that was 4 years ago, so I am hopeful for you ...)
Fortunately it had a happy ending later. :)

Hello Paralipomenon , the last time I was counseled for my attire was by an elder. I will try to dress better for my next protest, hope I did not stumble anyone. Sorry my suit and tie is unbecoming of a protester.
Your first website was over the top, poorly designed and hard to read. It's obvious that marketing isn't your strong point. You did end up changing the format of the site and now it's a bit better, though the color scheme does cause strain on the eyes to read.
When putting together a message you need to consider who your target audience is. If it is non-witnesses, then scope the protest site out before hand on a similar day (ie. previous Saturday before protest) and note what people are wearing. If they are in three piece suits, put a three piece suit on. If they are in khakis and golf shirts then dress the same. People are more receptive to a message from someone they consider their peer.
For a witness watching, if you blend into the casual foot traffic, then the natural place for their gaze is to look at what's different, that being the signs.
If you look like a used car salesman and stick out like a sore thumb, people will focus on you. For non-witnesses they will look at you and at the smartly dressed witnesses and wonder if you lost a barfight. For witnesses you look like their least favorite elder which isn't endearing to the message either.
There's ways of protesting and making points. Protests are a dime a dozen and mostly lead by people that have no idea how resonate with their target audience. If you don't care how your message is perceived, then why should they?

Reasons "love bombing" ceases
by roxanesophia ini study with a highly esteemed pioneer & elder's kid and i've learned on here that pioneers are right up there when it comes to gossip, as are elders kids, so i've got a double whammy.
unfortunately i didn't learn that until after i'd trusted her.
call me a moron but i'm totally drawn in by the kindness.

Personally I don't think most do it intentionally.
When someone new shows up at the hall, they are encouraged to go over, meet the person and welcome them. They are also told that their goal is to bring new members into the fold.
But it's impossible to hold a smile all day, eventually after you are seen at more and more meetings you are no longer viewed as a "new person" and people that wouldn't normally be your friend stop trying. I really don't think it's malicious. You can't force yourself to become close friends with every person you meet.
The witnesses are very cliquish. Like most close-knit societies. If you get into one of the top cliques, you will likely continue to be invited over and greeted by people there. If not, it will be very lonely as you keep going wondering, why you seemed to lose these new friends, wondering if it's because you are not a good enough witness.
The average spiral is:
Attend more meetings
Get baptized
Pioneer
Give talks...
Really people keep trying harder and harder to be the best witness they can be to get that feeling back of being wanted, but unless you break into one of the cliques, you won't do it.
It sounds like you've tapped your critical thinking even though you use the occassional "witness speak". Just decide if their teachings hold up to fact or if you need their own literature to validate the teachings.
