  i am not a jw but the person who i care about is.

  i once was on the verge of becoming a jw myself and knew the jw i wanted to be with very well.

  Meh, unless there was a steamy sex story that went along with it, there's little chance she would have been disciplined. People having sex makes for very exciting judicial meetings. Someone eating too much, not so fun.
  
  Good chance her parents gave her a stern talking to and forbid her to have any contact. I've read your story, and have one question. Were you two actually dating, or was this just someone you were interested in?

  i found out today that my mom took my son to the kh behind my back when she was in town visiting.

  he's just a little baby so he will have no memories of it.

  It does seem sneaky and underhanded, but given the young age of the child no lasting harm. It does raise a issue that you need to address with your mother. Namely, respect for your wishes.
  
  Cutting her off is an easy way out. It shows no tolerance or forgiveness on your part.
  
  You have every right to be upset, but you should calm down and think about it, then address it with your mother.
  
  You need to find out her motive for going against your wishes, does she feel responsible for the child's spiritual welfare?
  Was she just being a proud grandmother?
  
  Inform her of the breach of trust and ask if she will continue to try to undermine your parenting. Ask her what she would have done if her mother tried to undermine her as a parent.
  
  Maybe she'll see realize that she's putting her relationship with her daughter and grand daughter in jeopardy and back of from the "theocratic warfare".

  what was your favorite urban legend whilst you were in the jws that you now know to be just a buncha hullaballoo?

  my favorite one was when a child brought a smurf doll to the kingdom hall and that thing just got up and went screaming out of the kingdom hall on its' own two feet.

  i've been looking for posts on the borg moving away from a literal understanding of isaiah 65:25 and couldn't find any.

  the persistent passage of time has forced the borg to literally redefine the word "generation" to suit their needs (it now means any group of people within a span of time that can go on indefinitely).

  i'm starting to get the impression that they are going to have to do something with the 8000 or so people who insist on partaking of the emblems every year, thereby identifying themselves as "anointed" and heaven bound.

  in recent years they have tried to discourage people from partaking by emphasizing that they could be crazy or diluted or puffed up with pride if they partook (don't ya just love my jw speak!?!?

  My wife has had a few cosmetic surgery procedures before we got married, but I attribute that to low self esteem.
  
  Now she has had 3 kids and the pregnancies didn't do nice things to her body. She'd like to get a breast reduction because the government would pay for it. Since she is a bit over weight I stipulated that she needed to lose a certain amount of weight first.
  
  Her issue was that if she loses the weight, she might not qualify for the government program any more. She's quite interested in the tuck they do at the same time.
  
  My stipulation was for her to come close to her ideal weight first through diet and exercise and then we can personally pay for any lifts/tucks/reductions she wants. We don't hurt for money, but I see surgery as a quick fix without lasting benefit. If she gets the reduction now, then loses weight, isn't there a risk with her breasts becoming ... er lopsided?
  
  I love her regardless but she can't see how that's possible. Am I way out in left field on this matter?

  i am reading the bible for the first time.

  i was df'd in 1976 and lived my whole life thinking the jws have the truth and i just could not live up to the standard and was doomed to die at the big a without question.

  until i found jwd 31 years later.

  That's a source of major debate. It all depends on which religion you ask.
  
  From an agnostic's point of view, the wording of the scripture would imply divine attributes to all three.

  I haven't personally heard any new light regarding this. It's long overdue. Whoever decided to take this scripture literally is a complete moron.
  
  1) if all the animals start eating grass, there will be a HUGE competition for plant foods
  2) animal's entire digestive systems will need to be changed including jaw structure
  3) animals aren't immortal so bodies will just be left to rot without scavengers
  4) without population control, animals with high reproductive rates will soon overwhelm the planet.
  5) what about marine life? Are sharks going to eat kelp?
  
  Essentially animals will no longer factor into the ecosystem and will merely exist for the sake of human enjoyment. So what about animals that are ugly or serve no practical purpose, will they be destroyed?
  
  People marvel with how balanced the earth is and claim that it is proof of a creator, then take one line of a scripture and are prepared to toss that whole thought out.
