They can see a trend.
At one point they enjoyed alot of progress. Some countries were literally exploding with growth. Then when the internet came out, it's slowed to a trickle.
People have doubts but are "just waiting on jah".
They make it really hard to leave. They are the only ones with "sayings of truth". Jehovah blesses their work with growth.
What happens when growth stops? When people start leaving faster than they join?
The lemming mentality takes over. Nobody wants to be the last one on a sinking ship so more leave. They are in the middle of a crisis. For years they have been able to cover up their past with time, but now time has caught up to them in the form of the internet.
Unfortunately I think the Governing Body really feels they are God's Organization so whatever they decide Jehovah will bless. I think there's more pressure from the younger bethelites urging them to reform some archaic policies before their foundation crumbles.

I shudder to think of what Vinny was like as an elder.
Please reread your own posts. You type out a point. Then you affirm that your point is correct. Then since your point is correct, you mock anyone arguing with you for being so wrong.
You make alot of claims and speak in absolutes without providing any backup other than "I say so"
In your own mind you believe that there is a God, but your behavior is that of one that has a complete disrespect for bible teachings.
Jesus taught love.
Jesus taught mildness.
Jesus taught self control.
I see no evidence in your posts that these virtues mean anything to you.
Jesus said "love your enemy", but you see it more like you need to "verbally spank" people that don't agree with your points. Then after you go on a tirade, you pat yourself on the back for such a fine job.
So, two things:
1) If Jesus was to read your posts, do you think he would be proud of you?
2) I made a post called the "Creationist Lottery" discussing the math involved in the accidental creation of life here:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/132394/1.ashx/The+creation+lottery
If you have any basis in math you may find it an interesting read. In fact, there were absolutely no theists to post on it. I'm not interested in disproving God, but when people say God must exist because the chances of live accidentally happening is so remote, I like to offer the math that they are claiming to represent.
If you aren't good at math, please refrain from comment. I refuse to argue a topic with someone that doesn't grasp the basics of discussion.
Personally I'm Agnostic. I don't think there's enough evidence to either prove or disprove God.
The fact that life is complex doesn't prove that God exists. To me it proves that we are not complex enough to understand it and may never be.
The fact that there is no tangible proof of a God doesn't mean he does not exist.
At anytime I'm willing to swing my belief to either side if a convincing enough argument is made.
Unfortunately "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'M SPANKING ATHEISTS" just doesn't cut it for me to believe in God. -

If you could ask an elder your questions
by Heather inwhat question do you want to ask or have you asked that would stump or have stumped an elder?
i'm in the position where my mom wants me to come back and wants me to have my questions answered (even though she has dodged most of mine) so that i will once again see its the truth and want to return.
so i'm going to set a meeting with an elder to see if he would be willing to attempt to answer some of my questions to prove to me beyond a doubt that i'm in the wrong.

Heh, keep in mind the original poster is DA'd and her mother wants to set up a meeting with the elders to answer any doubts they might have.
Otherwise, if I was a loyal dub the conversation would be more like this:
Elder: How are you today?
Me: HAIL JEHOVAH!
Elder: HAIL!
Another elder walking by: HAIL! -

Virtual apologist bashing here I come!
"The 1st Century congregation fell into apostasy because it was foretold to happen. Individuals that stayed faithful were just fine in Jehober's eyes. Jehovah need to allow another 2,000 years to go by to fulfill the wheat and weeds parable and to show that man can't successfully rule himself. "
It's not foretold that there would be another apostasy in the "last days" so there's no reason to think the dubs are going to lose Jehovah's blessing. But, if you insist on asking (BTW, you haven't been doing research on the internet have you brother?) I guess I'll just reach back here to my rectal area and see what I can pull out. OK, how's this? We're the ONLY ones who have the following COMBO: 1. Don't go to war 2. Stay out of politics 3. Preach like there's no tomorrow 4. Respect the Bible's command on blood 5. Have inter-racial vegetarian BBQs where the men wear khakis and the ladies do gardening in ankle length dresses.
============
How can you be sure that the prophesy didn't have a greater fulfillment of apostasy in our day? The Governing Body has admitted that they don't have divine inspiration and that is why their understanding of the the prophesies needs to "grow brighter".
The first century congregation started out with the brightest of lights and slowly lost it. Modern day started out with almost no light at all even now are trying to say they are refining their understanding.
Your own point was that man can't successfully rule himself. What makes you think that imperfect humans, that is the Governing Body are more capable to lead God's organization today without God's inspiration than a congregation that had seen Jesus and Jehovah's imbued the whole congregation with his holy spirit? -

Does A School Yard Bully Attitude Take Over This Discussion Board?

sometimes, i would knock their block off and sometimes, it was the other.

I think the comment on religious mindsets hit the issue straight on.
People find God, and are filled with so much happiness that they want to share it with others.
Others have lost God and decided that it is a sham. As such they want to expose God as a false teaching to others.
Two mindsets hell bent (pun not intended) on converting the other. Neither side willing to give an inch.
It's not so much a bullying attitude as an irreconcilable difference. I realize this myself. When I argue on these boards, it's more mental sparing than an actual attempt at converting the other person to my point of view. I think on these forums in particular, most fall into this same category. Of course there's the kooks on either side of the fence that push things too far and are usually smacked down by both sides for being too unreasonable.
So in answer to the original question, I don't think there's a schoolyard bullying attitude here. In order to bully, you need to find a target that won't fight back. I don't think the posters here have any issue about getting into a verbal fight. -

Why alaways the 2nd or "Greater" fulfillment of prophecy?
by zack inone of the things (among many) that always bugged me about the wts, was their insistence on biblical prophecies always having a .
2nd or greater fulfillment.
always, like everything else about the wts, it was based on conjencture.
