have you ever wondered why the absolute aversion of jws to blood and anything to do with the cross?.
could it have something to do with the theme of the blood covenant that runs through out the scriptures starting with the animal that most of been sacrificed to cover adam and eve.the offering of able noah after the ark landed the jewish laws of animal sacrifice leading and pointing unmistakenly to jesus the lamb of god that takes away the sin of the world.
is it they are refusing to enter in to the blood covenant which is the only way through the veil into the most holies are they with out the blood on their door posts and lintels.could all this avoidance of blood be betraying something much deeper and of eternal importance.unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the son of man you have no life in you.jn6;52,53 remember the life is in the blood..

Interesting perspective, but I do agree with you on taking in the Blood of the Christ, that is where life begins, recognizing the value and partaking of our Lords blood figuratively by our acceptance, recognition and observing the Memorial of his death.

watching coverage of the va tech shooting, and thinking about how people who feel powerless and taken advantage of, can plan and carry out such a crime, i wonder when someone will break under the pressures put on by wt and tragically committ one of these at a kingdom hall.
there are probably people who under the right mix of circumstances, mental illness and opportunity, are capable of doing this in the jw cult.
any thoughts?.
Ouch Dan, but what would it serve, I feel sorry for those that have suffered by this religion (WE ALL HAVE) or cult, but killing others senselessly proves nothing.

"no smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.. so as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?.
smoking over a long period of time can kill you.
eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you.
It has occurred to me that we do many things that defile out body but in looking at WT teaching and the scripture they use for defilement
2 Cor 7:1 Therefore, since we have these promises, beloved ones, let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in God’s fear.
There was never a point in the scripture that says people who do defile themselves should be DF, there is another scripture that talks about perfecting ourselves in Gods fear or imitation of Him
Matt 5:43-48 43 “Y OU heard that it was said, ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 However, I say to YOU : Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU ; 45 that YOU may prove yourselves sons of YOUR Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous. 46 For if YOU love those loving YOU , what reward do YOU have? Ironic or funny they don't DF people for not acting loving towards their neighbors, for talking to pagans, for not being kind.

it seems that alot of jw's are into this.. i think there is a time and place for this, ie if you don't have access to a public/private school.. it doesn't seem regulated to me.
my mother home schooled my sister because she couldn't be bothered taking and picking her up from school.
Home schooled my daughter for two years, she is smart and works full time but don't approve of it and would never do it again.

i've just been thinking about jwd and how messed it up it is how the witnesses twisted things in my mind so i totally got mind-warped....what am i talking about, you ask?
well, whenever someone has a quote on here from watchtower literature from years past (like from the 1970s or 1960s etc) proving that witnesses have taught/do teach this or that in the past, i automatically discredit that quote necause how i was taught as a witness was that whole new light thing-meaning...... "oh, well, things have changed-our teachings have changed, we no longer believe or teach this, this, and that anymore,"- i'm so brainwashed that when i read old quotes on here where people prove to say that witnesses taught this or that, it's like i kind of go "oh well that quote doesnt' matter," but in reality.......... jws should take responsibility for everything they've taught!!!
and not just keep saying, "well, that was then-this is now.. ...i mean, from an outsider's view point, they would say "oh, so witnesses teach this?

maybe its not necessarily the drink but more the time you allow yourself..

myself: "what are they hearing that i am not hearing that is so important.
Years ago when I was zealous or stupid, don't know which one, it started as notes, by the time I left it turned into HangMan or TickTackToe with my daughter.

much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

Life is way too short, life should always be about "seizing the moment" whether on paper, video, camera or just in our own minds and memories.
Sayings like take "time to smell the coffee or flowers" are great but we really should, we are here for one tiny blip on the radar screen and yet many of us never get it even when it is too late.
The older I get, I make it a point to slow down, whether it is eating, time with my wife, time with the kids and grandkids, looking at a sunset, a good joke or funny experience, whatever it is.
Slow down and enjoy, this wont last forever, at least as we know it.
