rebel8 -- that is a sickening story. What a betrayal.

the bizarre things religious people say and believe
by Hortensia ini sat in the community garden tonight and talked with one of my neighbors, an old lady in an electric wheelchair.
she was telling me she won't be able to garden next year, it's getting to hard for her since her stroke.
so we talked about her stroke.

Lookout western Christianity - here comes the Chinese
by fulltimestudent inthe material i've studied about early christianity leads to the conclusion that what passes for modern christianity is the result of luck.
ideas required support, so who was lucky enough to get the numbers at a conference?
(often dependent on who could get there).

You're in Australia, aren't you? Interesting observation. I know a little about Falun Gong, a little about jews in China, a little about Catholics in China. The idea of Chinese christians spreading the "word" to the West is an interesting reversal. I wish christianity would just disappear, along with other religions, until they are all viewed as dark age superstitions. Not gonna happen, I guess.

A small victory over WT child indoctrination.
by trailerfitter inover the last few years it has been a stuggle to ensure my son who is now eight years old is not indoctrinated into the rediculous world of the watchtower.
whilst i am separated from my wife she takes every opportunity to try to get him to slave for jeeehoovah (joseph stalin as i call him).
today, after a discussion i found out she has yet again tried to explain that god made the world etc, and the noahs arc story.

take your time with your son, never give up on teaching him how to think. Encourage him to even disagree with you sometimes when you're talking. I don't mean disobedience in important issues, but disagreeing about ideas, realizing there are lots of aspects to any situation.

Hi all
by Saltheart Foamfollower infirstly, love and greetings to all - i've been lurking here and elsewhere for a long time and have benefitted more than i can say.
i'm still in - i have a genuine fear that coming out would kill my mother - but i've recently taken the first step away.
i told a non-jw friend that i knew it was all a load of nonsense and i didn't believe any of it.

years ago my roommate and I had a "pet" spider in the kitchen that we named Agatha. We left her web alone and every morning there would be some dead ant corpses under the web. She was there for several months and we didn't have an ant problem while she was there. She eventually died and we cleaned out the web.

Mystery priest appears and vanishes from accident scene
by designs ina two mile corridor was set up around the scene of the accident.
firefighters were having trouble removing the young person trapped inside their vehicle, equipment kept failing.
suddenly out of nowhere a person looking like a catholic priest showed up, blessed and anointed the injured and told the firefighters their equipment would now begin to work.

What a lot of good advice! Sorry about the spelling, Mum. I've been doing some online spelling practice for french learners, but frankly the way they spell things is very confusing. Still, I think I'll get it one of these days.
I tried lumosity, but didn't want to spend the money on joining. Mensa has a free games page, so I play some of their games every day. It's all kind of fun. My brain is simply not as flexible as it once was!

yeah, I've been there. Had the crazy fucked-up family, the religion, violence, abuse, all that crap. Turn your back on it all. It's time to tell your mother to kiss your ass, and to stay away until she can speak to you with respect.
You have your children, I hope you have friends and a support system outside the wtbts and a crazy JW family. If not, work on getting some new friends. Counseling helped me enormously, you might consider that.
