Individual elders and pioneers drop by unannounced now and then, especially on rainy days.
LOL -- for a cup of coffee and shelter from the rain?
I like your idea that religion inhibits human potential. It's true.
tell us a little about yourself and your family.

so if you read thru my previous posts from years ago u can see a little background of my life.
to do a quick summary i was df'd at 19, got into the party lifestyle which included party drugs and lots of alcohol.
at 24 i decided to step bacdk and really try to get my life in order.
Are you still in San Diego? There's a large and active LGBT group there. You do need to find some sort of counseling to help you -- being gay isn't anything to feel guilty about. And, you need help putting a better life together, getting away from drugs. Stay in the homeless shelter, go to work, get all the counseling and support you can. Try to eat some healthy stuff every day, and try to exercise outside in the sun every day.
this question is for athiests who had been jw's, and when leaving, had to pretty much start fresh (if most of your association had been jw's).. to help you better answer the question, here is first the reason i am asking it.
my whole life and assocation were jw's only.
when i left, it was at first being pretty isolated while making new friends/etc from scratch.
I didn't join any groups or religions, didn't want to do so. I eventually made friends with people at school, people at work, that sort of thing. I have friends who seem like family to me.
As for humanitarian work, I donate to local causes to help the people in this town and the neighboring areas.
just when you think you can trust people, even family you cant!!
i have put out some feelers to gauge reaction and thoughts.
even though many feel the morale is bad they will turn on you in a heartbeat.
Sorry to hear that -- well, back-pedal and see whether you can smooth things over. They are a bunch of really awful gossips, even the ones you think are nice and intelligent.

I loved visiting China. I remember visiting the Great Wall for the first time. We Americans were taking pictures of the Mongolians who were there that day, and they were taking pictures of us. One of the Mongolians asked me if he could take a picture using sign language. I said OK so he lined up a whole bunch of tiny Chinese people in uniform to stand around me, and he took the picture. I have this phantasy of my picture being in a scrapbook in a yurt in Mongolia. "Yes, this is the giant long-nose we met at the Great Wall of China. Look how big her feet are!" Also the same day an incredibly ancient Chinese woman came up and felt my boobs - the Chinese have tiny boobs and she didn't believe mine were real until she squeezed them and I squawked.
I have loads of funny stories about China. I loved visiting there and learned a lot.
tell us a little about yourself and your family.. i grew up on a small island south of england.
my parents moved there from mainland uk and left their families behind.
as noone else in the family is a jw and lived in different countries i don't know any of them that well.
Through most of my life I imagined I would not make it through Armageddon, so freeing myself of this terror and guilt was a massive relief.
Yes, exactly how I felt!
maybe its just me , i`m just curious as to how many people on this site are from australia as i am .
how many from germany , italy , zambia , etc.
etc.. do two or three "countries " seem to dominate the threads ?
