I knew some nice circuit overseers and their wives, but this was more than 30 years ago. Of course, I was oblivious about most things anyway, so might not have noticed any bad behavior.

Tech49 has the CO over for lunch
by Tech49 inso awhile back, during our last circuit overseer visit, vic and i decided to bite the bullet.... there seemed to be very little support for the mid-week lunch plans for the co and his wife, so we signed up to host.
we definitely didnt want it to be awkward, so we invited a few others along, as a nice little group affair.
they were excited, and offered to do the cooking, so i said i would play along.. just some background.... this particular co is kind of a tool (big surprise right?

Planting seeds of thought with my JW doctor
by Faithful Witness ini have hesitated to post anything about my recent encounters with our jw doctor, because i don't really want anyone to insult her or me, for continuing to rely on her for medical care.
our family doctor is a jehovah's witness.
we were referred to her by our former bs conductor.

Not all JWs are evil, and sometimes you can have a decent professional relationship with them. You're not friends, you are her customer. It sounds as though she has good boundaries. If you are trying to plant little seeds of doubt in her, I think you might not be honoring the professional relationship. Her religion is her business, your religion is your business.
I don't really want to be negative. I'm glad you have a good relationship with your doctor and that her being a JW doesn't hamper the relationship.

Need Advice "How To Shame A Jehovah Witnesses Elderettee and CBOE", What to say to Friends?
by RottenRiley in.
hi, my mom is dying of cancer and my jw brother and sister refuse to take her to chemotherapy, i thought of providing this information on their business website to debunk the claim they are "a loving family constuction company".
my next door neighbors keep asking me why i am the only one taking her to radiation and chemotherapy, should i tell them my brother and sister are the biggest pieces of shit in san luis obispo county and they hate me because i got rid of two pedophile elders by threatening the watchtower society?.

It's hard to win in a pissing contest with mean people. Take care of your mother and forget about them.

Well, I'm not doing much of anything. Sunny day, contemplating going into town. I'm knitting socks and a sweater. Digesting last night's Sherlock finale. Reading about lymph microcirculation, I agreed to teach a class in May so am preparing for it. I keep saying I'm retired, but a little influx of money would be a good thing. Need to buy a car.
Anyone want to read this and discuss? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3568779/
It's actually very interesting!
Besides that, I'm pretty bored. Not having a car is a drag. Will get one in May, woohoo!

Montana diocese declares bankruptcy while being sued by hundreds of people for abuse
by Hortensia inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25987742.
i hope more of them go bankrupt.
and i hope the officials responsible for protecting pedophiles go to jail..

You're right BOTR -- I was confusing the two. I'd like them to go bankrupt paying out money to their victims, not declare bankruptcy to escape paying their victims.

This may be the year California burns down
by Hortensia inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-25996522.
there's a photo of shasta lake near where i live -- it's very sad now to see how low the lake is.
and governor brown is being really wimpy about it, suggesting we not flush our toilets as often as usual.

free2beme -- if you can see Mt. Shasta, you must not be too far from here. Do you ever get down to Mt. Shasta City? Coffee one day?
Thanks for the interesting info about Lake Shasta, they are saying as you did that it hasn't reached its record low yet. I'm sure that will happen this year, though. Lake Siskiyou is also really low, although not yet record low, and they are saying if it drops much farther that it will no longer produce electricity in Box Canyon.

CC - same here. Even people who ordinarily hate the snow are worried about our lack of snow this year. One snowstorm late last year, that's it. And it melted in a few days. Poor old Mt. Shasta got some snow this week, but it will be gone in a couple of days. It has been bald all winter instead of having its normal deep snow all winter.

Designs -- I agree. I don't know why the gov. is being so wimpy about it. People shouldn't be watering their lawns or filling their pools or running their fountains or washing their cars, there are lots of things that ought to be done to conserve water right now.
I'm pretty frugal with water anyway -- coming from San Diego and Palm Springs -- but I can see we have to do more.

I think you're right. And declaring bankruptcy is another way to get out of their lawsuit problems. After the bakruptcy is over they can just go back to collecting money.
