I agree. I went to a trade school when I got out of the org -- in fact it was helpful in getting me out of the org. I learned a trade, made a good living, progressed in my field, eventually became the owner of a trade school myself. I felt very proud of myself for helping many people get out of low-paying jobs and achieve success.

Think outside the college Box
by Giordano ini was very impressed with the following information from kiplinger's magazine and considering my own experience it might be helpful to many on this forum.
a lot has changed for those of us who graduated high school and decided to listen to our jw parents and our congregation and pioneer instead of furthering our education.
i was that person, an indifferent hs student, not too prone to go on to college.

HI! im new here...
by outofthelionsden ini have been reading post on this forum for many months and i wanted to thank you all for all the great posts and comments that have really helped me get through this hard year of fading.
my husband and i where born in jdubs and almost 1 year ago we started to fade , now that we think about it has been a few years that we were suffering from cognitive dissonance without knowing it.
we feel that finally we have our life back , a life that is just starting.

Off to the Doctor.
by LouBelle inin a couple of hours i'm going to the doctor - an intervention.
i don't want to be a burdon to my mother, she has her own life to lead with her own responsibilities.
i've always been able to take care of everything for myself.

Best thing I ever did was go to a doctor -- of course I waited until I cracked up first. You're smart to be going before you crack up. Antidepressants are very helpful. It can make the difference between sinking and swimming -- if you have more energy and feel happier, you'll find ways to deal with your problems.
Good luck -- let us know how it goes

Isn't that a difference without a distinction?

I just finished re-reading The Raj Quartet, by Paul Scott. Now I'm reading his biography. He was such a fabulous writer, I'm curious to see what led him to write his books. I first read them years ago when the tv series The Jewel in the Crown was broadcast on PBS. Such a really good series, I loved it and I love the books on which it is based.

I think I've planted a seed!
by OneDayillBeFree ini could be wrong, but i can't help but be a bit optimistic.last night my parents and i had our "family worship night".
i hate it, and i believe my mother does too.
my dad only does it because he's an elder but last night even he was acting like he didnt want to do it.

now, back way off and let them make the next move. You don't want them to get nervous right now, your mother is already a little nervous about it. You are one sharp cookie!

If man evolved?
by tornapart ini know anyone who believes in evolution is going to say that there is no 'if' about it.
however.... if man evolved over hundreds of thousands of years ago, why were there only about 200-300 million people alive 2,000 years ago?
surely there'd have been many billions by then?.

The idea that some animal decided to jump in the ocean and become a dolphin is a vast oversimplification of what happened, and that simplification can make you think the whole idea of evolution is crazy. Evolutionary change depends on small random mutations that accumulate over huge amounts of time. Not all mutations were useful, and our DNA is full of junk that serves no purpose. But some mutations were useful, enabling some critters or plants to survive and reproduce. Over immense amounts of time millions of tiny changes led to the world as it is now.

Perfume / Cologne
by LouBelle inthere are some perfumes that i absolutely just love and a little squirt of it can bring back such good memories, make you feel sexy.
my favorite is dolce & gabbana (red), followed by d&g "the one", followed by coco chanel .
on men, i love the smell of the original hugo boss - used to make my tummy clench in a good way .
