Welcome R. Flores and Busta.
In regard to the paragraph structure, ----- welllllll.
If you have been around as long as many of us have you will know that it is not
you but the program you use to write with.
In time you will figure this out. And ....... be perfect like the rest of us.
Just kidding R. Flores and Busta.
Hang in there.
Thanks

My life growing up as a witness...
by RFlores ini have just spent the last 4 hours reading many various posts and finally built up the courage to register and share my experiences.
i am only 20 years old, but my young age should not overlook my intelligence as an observing individual.
i was born into the religion of the jehova's witnesses.

My mother told me today that the end is so close
by TooBad TooSad inshe has been a faithful jw for over 50 years.
she was taught that the end was coming in the late 50's.. today she said that the terrible conditions in the world today prove that the end is near.
i told her that i. think that conditions in the world were a lot worse during ww1 and ww2 and it looks like things.

Welcome Tefferin Laux.
Tefferin Laux, Let me say, “enjoyed your blog EDUCATION DESTROYS CULTS”
Me would like to add a thought.
In a paragraph starting with -- If anyone comes knocking on your door. You state,
“I wish I was allowed to talk to you, but I’ve been told I’m an apostate”.
Tefferin Laux me believes it would be better to say, “I wish that you were allowed to talk to me, but the WBTS has said that I am an apostate and I respect your rights not to speak”.
Why does me say this?
The WBTS has no control over non members (apostates, etc.). Non members can speak to anyone they wish. However, WBTS members are forbidden to speak to apostates or disfellowshipped/disassociated.
By making this statement in this matter one lets the WBTS member(s) or any other organization know that you are not hostile. That you are a peaceful person, etc. All hostility is placed on the other person.
Sometimes
Me thinkin’ me talken’ too much.

Welcome LunaFing,
The WBTS has based their beliefs on the idea that they have been given special education from a higher being. (Nothing new, all other religious organizations do the same)
Me would like to say, “Rewards and punishment are the lowest form of education”.
That is the bottom line, reward and punishment, (sticks and carrots) with this shunning by the WBTS.
They use this method to keep their subjects in line with their approach to education. There was a news article this week that talked about religion in the U.S. It said that only 37% of the young people raised as witnesses remain such. It’s clear that sticks and carrots aren’t working.
The highest form of education is LOVE.
Shunning is NOT love.
Me thinks’ me not need say anything more.
Thanks
P.S. LunaFing, there is something that has always stayed by me. It could have been written on a stone in my back yard by my next door neighbor. But is it written in 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13. -

Home Schooling
by WTWizard init seems that there are a lot of witlesses that opt to home school their children.
i had a family in my former congregation that did that, because the kids did not want to be around worldly people (sounds familiar?).
it also seems that they are speeding things up, so the children can get out there and pioneer that much sooner.

Sorry about that

“I have no interest in sending my children to school, not because of religion, but because I want my children to be able to think for themselves. “
Could this be why?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_education_system
The political motivations of the King of Prussia
Seeking to replace the controlling functions of the local aristocracy, the Prussian court attempted to instill social obedience in the citizens through indoctrination. Every individual had to become convinced, in the core of his being, that the King was just, his decisions always right, and the need for obedience paramount.
The schools imposed an official language to the prejudice of ethnic groups living in Prussia. The purpose of the system was to instill loyalty to the Crown and to train young men for the military and the bureaucracy. As the German philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte, a key influence on the system, said, "The schools must fashion the person, and fashion him in such a way that he simply cannot will otherwise than what you wish him to will."
Emulation of the Prussian education system in the United States
The Prussian system proved to be a success for that government’s purposes. By the late 1800’s men in the United States including Horace Mann, Barnis Sears, and Calvin Stove heard about the successes of the Prussian system. They traveled to Germany to investigate how the educational process worked. Upon their return to the United States they lobbied heavily to have the Prussian model adopted. Horace Mann was largely responsible for the introduction of compulsory public education, Prussian-style, in the United States.
There has got to be a balance between Home schooling ver Public schooling.
Because of what Lrkr said, “I have yet to see a home with a chemistry laboratory, gymnasium, running track, photography developing lab, pottery kiln, CADD station, or television studio (etc, etc, etc me added). But they are common place in public schools. A well meaning parent can't possibly compete with the resources of thousands of taxpayers.... and why should they??? Because all of the people at school are BAAAAADDD?????”’
