Where do I go from here?
by ddman ini left a year or so ago, told my parents about that time, (that was barrel of monkeys).
at that point i have just put beliefs in the "backburner".
i feel like i was burn't out on religion in general by the last 30 years or so in the borg.

Hmm, iv'e thought about the same thing if whenever i start to raise a child. Not sure what to tell him or her about spirituality. I think im just gonna keep my basic thinking, like believe in what the bible says. But at the sametime, disagree with an organized religion. After all, i think you can have a good spiritual life without being in a religion.

How Dysfunctional A Witness Were You?
by minimus inreading posters' comments help me to see that since leaving "the organization", many have gotten emotionally better.
of course, you don't have to be a witness to have dysfunction but feeling the pressure of always being told that we are inferior, that we're not doing enough, can get to the best of us!
looking back, how dysfunctional were you??

I was doing drugs, getting drunk, and havin sex all at the same time. Then going to the meeting giving # 4 talks, in charge of the microphones, reading at the bookstudy, and giving prayers, and almost reading the watchtower on the platform on sundays. I was dysfunctional in the religion, but only i knew that LOL.

What were your reasons for becoming a JW?
by Narkissos inreasons, not excuses -- even valid ones (like, "i was ignorant, depressed, fooled").. yours in the sense that you can still own (to) them -- even though you now know the "answer" was wrong.. this obviously applies to those who became jws -- hence mostly not born-in, although some of the latter might admit to having chosen the jw way for themselves at a certain stage of their childhood or teenage years.. this question is triggered by a previous conversation with purplesofa on another thread:.
i think most of us that came in and not born in were searching.
our hearts were pure in our search.

by sexyk inhey, what's up everyone ?

they have changed the doctrine about some of the people living in the generation of 1914 would see the end of this system.

Yeah i would like to know that too. Guess nobody will ever know how the elders went along with it. Their like robots anyways, they do whatever the society says. They'd eat a peice of horseshit from the society if they put enough icing on it.

Society's claim of Matt. 24:14 being fulfilled - What it could really mean
by Jourles ini've had this thought for quite a while and wonder if fits with the recent talk about the wts claiming that matt.
24:14 has been fulfilled.
my thought was this --- in the wake of the recent cutbacks at bethel, scaling back of literature, and other cost cutting measures, could the wts be preparing the r&f for the complete or massive reduction of literature that would normally be placed with "householders?

Yeah ill believe it when i see it printed out in a watchtower or awake, until that time, it's just a bunch of bullshit talk

The organization has over time began to be more strict. Mostly because their reasoning is that they think the worse the system gets, the more strict they have to be. And by bringing in more rules and regulations, they make the excuse that it is new light from god, so people should follow the guidelines. Now as time goes on, i think things will get even more strict.
For example, i think they will even go as far as banning people from using the internet. After all, the internet is a huge enemy to the society now days. And nothing good is said about the witnesses on it. Maybe if you go to the watchtower website, that's it. But it's so easy to access the watchtowers cover ups and lies on the internet. They'll probably just delete it's website and tell people not to use the net since it's a huge threat.
People will lose interest after a while i think, and realize it's just way too strict and mind controlling. But the cult will always have new members comming in, and new leaders changing things and making so called new light from god.
But as of now, their are more people leaving, then comming in. And i think that will get even worse for the jw's after a period of time, their will be a fade as time goes on. But i think the religion will never just fall. It will just change like it has changed since the early 50's, but for worse. And they will cover up shit up in the future like they did in the past.
Overall, i beleive they will get more strict (if thats even possible). And people will find it's just too hard to live by, and learn that it's not good for your mental health to stay in it. Just cause it's almost impossible for people to live up to it's strict rules. And i think it takes time for people to find out about their false prophecys and cover-ups.
I think their will be a population decrease in the future, and after a while, it will be known even to it's members how full of crap it is. But the organization will never fall, if anything, it will change and de-populate.

Youths Online! Oh My!
by Midget-Sasquatch inthe letter read in all the congregations about the "dangers" of my space and chat groups is followed up by this article in the mar 2007 awake obviously aimed at scaring dubby parents enough to keep a vigilante eye on their teens.
like they really care about exposing teens to pervs.....its all about hiding the fact that they've always been full of crap....and on that note, here's the article:.

It's kinda funny you put that link out there. Because today when i was at my parents place (where i don't go often since they are active jws.) They happened to throw that article in front of my face about the online shit. And i read 2 lines of it. And i couldn't help to think like.... Wow, this information is truly mind controlling and brainwashing.
