Why is Europe more liberal then the United States?
by free2beme ini have wondered this for awhile and can not figure out why.
any ideas?
apparently being liberal does not lead to an economic power house, but it does lead to a lot of hatred of the united states in these countries.

Is Jesus becoming less relevant - even to Christians?
by nicolaou inone thing many jw's could do was quote jesus, although whether or not they lived up to the so-called 'christian ideal' is questioned by most of us.
conversely, many others who call themselves christians are much nicer people!
they love, they are generous, charitable and willing to give - but they are unlikely to be as familiar as we are with the details of jesus life and ministry as recorded in the bible.. i don't have a problem with that, it's what people do that matters!.

Is it normal to love a spouse more than your child(ren)?
by unbeliever ini was watching this show in passing and they had a woman on there that said she loved her husband more than her children.
she said by putting her husband first it made her marriage stronger and happier and therefore it made her a better mother.. i did a double take when i heard that.
i don't think it is normal to love a spouse more than your child.

hi RAF,
so, you speak for Jesus or for Matthew?
tetra
In saying that it is DIVINE already ?I speak for my heart ... as for mattew it's all about what is credible about what is DIVIN/CHRIST to me (all cultural missunderstanding aside).
Tetra, you have the right to believe what you believe (just like I do) ... there is nothing wrong with that I even think I understand your whys as you seem to think you understand my whys ... everything is ok ... we have no reason to fight about that ... I'm not trying to convince you ... but if you state something and that I do no agree with you I guess I have the freedom to speak.
I've read a lot of your posts you look like a nice guy (and you know why I think that) ... I have nothing against you ... but something is telling me that from a post we have opened our mouthes a bit too loud (one to each other) and since then it's like there is something to prove ... but there is nothing to prove, we can't go farest than that : You believe what you want to believe just like I do. It doesn't make me feel that you are stupid (I can read that you are not) do you think I'm stupid? ... Well ... that would be your right anyway I won't be able to fight against that neither even want to fight against that ... Why then?

Tetra :
and my only reply would be, "well, it takes one to know one. and he was nothing special as i am nothing special. he was special as i am special."
sacrilegious? if it is, then my only question is: WHY?
Well I don't think that Jesus Christ (any way you can see him or can't see him) do really care about that : Matthew 12:30-33 because it's not what really matter to him and that's already something DIVINE ...

How ambitious were you as a JW?
by OnTheWayOut inalltimejeff got me thinking about this.
he was very ambitious as a young jw, .
things changed as he wised up.

as ambitious as a Goldfish ...
I got over at a bit over 7 years old after a preaching tour (LOL) ... A leader (don't know if he was an elder or what) mistread the old man I went on service with (he was drunk)
But now that I think about it - it was obvious before he have been sent - they should have known better and tell him to stay at home instead of sending him anyway, a plus with a litlle girl
This bro have always been very nice to me and my familly (and others - his familly was not JW - her daughter is also named Corinne - and his name is Robert ... it's weird I do remember all this
It really HIT ME ... just realising how Jerks they have been to him ... I thought Ok count me out ! ... I've left at 12 (not because I coudn't believe in the doctrine (never really checked at that time) I just couldn't stand most of the rulers ... And wondered why most of the Jerks are rewarded and the nice once are treated like shit).

Facts about the NT Bible
by Amazing inhistorically, the bible is a secondary support for christians and jews.
i was raised roman catholic, and our tradition and practices included the bible, but it was not a key centerpiece of our faith.
the jewish side of my family likewise have a rich history of tradition and faith that is lived, and not pinned down to every word in the bible.

It seems that I've read here and there that the NT is not inpired by God but that the OT is? (did I really understood that statement?)
If yes: What would be the difference in between being inspired by God and being inspired by the holly spirit?
Even if you read the OT (example : genesis from Moses) even if you believe that it have been inspired (how could it be totally accurate) you realise that in being inspired I guess he put it the way he understanded it or lets say understandable at that periode of time I guess that's why to me periode of time and culture get a bit too much into it in many ways for many reasons - and those reasons are the reasons why they couldn't be written in an other way)
And more we are advanced in the time more we have knowlege at the same age (I mean more our culture is advanced) ... but scriptures like the bible can't be rewritten - I mean the originals. So that is a probleme to take in consideration when read it.
The WTBS likes to use OT a lot and I guess that I know why!
amazing : Yes they do. I am cusious as to what you thnk on why they do.
Well I guess (it's only my opinion and always only my opinion) it is because the OT talks a lot about immediate reaction from God... it keeps the fear/any guilt awake permanently (mind control strategy) – so if you are not doing what they tell you to do you feel bad if you really think that are God’s chanel.

Faith in God and the Church - Part 2 of 2 The Catholic Faith
by Amazing inmy story is sub-titled so you can skip ahead to parts that interest you most.. by way of reminder, my posting on "faith in god and the church" is not meant to convert anyone, because i have been out of the preaching business now for 14-years.
i am sharing my views given the questions i get when i do post about belief in god or my association with the catholic church.. why the catholic church?
protestants, especially fundamentalists and evangelicals have a hard spot with the roman catholic church.

Mike : (just read what's in red if you are not interested in details)
You wrote: So, you are saying in effect that I should do what? Listen to Mike S. and follow his pure and perfect teachings? No, you are just a corrupt man. Should I follow my own teachings and be my own Church? Am I also not just a corrupt man like you or anyone else?
No, I am saying you should follow Christ. I don't get it. Why is that so difficult? If you can't understand some of Christ's teachings (though I don't see that any of them are "rocket science" and you seem like a pretty intelligent man) why do you think that some Catholic Church leader's opinion of what Christ meant is any more valid than your own opinion? I guess it must be because your Church organization has been around since very shortly after the apostles died and because your Church's leaders claim to have been given your Church's teachings and traditions by the apostles and to have also been given their authority and the authority to pass that same authority, supposedly given to them, down to others. Jim, plain and simple, I believe you have been sold "a bill of goods."
You asked: Who or what does the Holy Spirit lead?
Every single member of Christ's body. Does that mean that we all understand every passage of Scripture in the same way? No, just the really important ones. As the apostle John told us in 1 John 2:27 "But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know." (NLT)that was just to emphase ...
thank youMike !!!
