For the kids is it better to stay married and miserable or...?
by brunnhilde in...get a divorce and at least have a chance at happiness?
my husband and i would never have gotten married if we weren't both in the borg.
now we're both out and we have nothing in common.

Thanks so much Crumpet! I'm just so unspeakably grateful and relieved to be OUT of this marriage! I don't really know what's going to happen going forward, but for the first time EVER in my entire life it's up to me to be who I really am! I don't think that's really sunk in yet. I feel like I have my whole life ahead of me and I can't wait! Good luck to you too starting out, girlfriend!

update on my divorce situation
by depressed ini'm shocked!
if you remember my experience, in a nutshell, basically my ex-bethelite ex pioneer husband cheated on me with an older "worldly woman" from his job and left me suddenly.
i had no idea that we had trouble with our marriage, however, when i discovered the love letters from the other woman, he moved out, and a week after that, i received divorce papers.

Depressed, just reading that smug gloating letter make me feel sick for you. I'm so terribly sorry that not only do you have to endure her smarmy attitude, his family is supporting him to the eyebrows. Sadly, I'm not surprised. There are absolutely two sets of rules for people in the Borg. If you're the "right" kind, the most atrocious behavior is overlooked or brushed aside; if you're not, hell hath no fury like the spiritually blood crazed JC! You've got my sympathy, my empathy and my rightous indignation on your behalf!

What is the borg saying about the internet?
by Mrs Smith inwhile speaking to my mom about some of the information i got on the wbts she asked me if i got my info off the internet.
my mother does not own a computer and wouldn't know how the internet works.
her question was very unusual for her.

If what they say really is the truth, then they should have nothing to fear from what anyone has to say. The fact that they're terrified of what people can find out on the web just proves they're just a bunch of power-hungry old bastards!

Help! Elders are after me-need advice!
by love2Bworldly inhi--3 times this weekend 2 elders came to my door asking for me by name (my kids answered the door).
apparently my jw sister notified the elders about the letter she received from me several months ago and gave them my new address.
my letter was very clear about how i felt about the watchtower society and i have not stepped foot in a kingdom hall in about 15 years, and the last 8 years of that was sporadic at best.. why should i talk to people i did not invite to my home, when i know they are coming to condemn me?

If you don't care, then send a copy of the letter to the local congs and along with a note that says STAY AWAY. If you want to blast them but you want prior notice (I agree with "My house, my rules") then send a letter stating you're willing to speak with them at a time YOU set. Make them deal with you on YOUR terms, not theirs. They're used to dealing with stupid, frightened sheep, remember? Make it clear you're not one of them. Good luck and keep us posted!

Elders are after me--PART 2
by love2Bworldly inok--i have decided i do want to answer the door when the elders return.
i won't let them speak at all, i am going to hold up my hand and tell them to let me have my say.
i am planning to say the following, and i'm trying to keep it very simple and to the point:.

Specific banned shows, songs, etc...?
by AllAlongTheWatchtower ini know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.

MMmmmm, good times - I remember a DO named Yasko pontificating on ET from the platform. He was such an arrogant little SOB. I couldn't stand him even then.
