My Older Witness Mom Admits to me - "It's a Man's Organization "

i was having a normal conversation with my witness mom 81 years old ( a witness for 57 years ) and the subject came up about my 56 year old sister who recently suffered a stroke in february .

my sister suffered for years with post-traumatic stress syndrome from an extremely abusive jw husband throughout the 1980's.

she was beaten, raped forcibly by him, and emotionally abused by his drug induced screaming rants, and to top that off; cheated on her constantly- even with sisters in the congregation.

Do you think my sister's husband would have been DFed for just the spousal abuse if adultery and drug abuse wasn't involved ?

No, I don't. My jw husband was physically abusive and did crazy things like drive into oncoming traffic just to terrorize me. He bought pornography and performed bizzare sex acts on himself and still didn't come close to being df'd. He would cry and say how sorry he was, and the elders would tell me to be a better wife and wait on Jehovah. One even had the nerve to tell me that if he did kill me that at least I was guaranted to make it into the new system.

From what I hear, he remains a jw in good standing. I was df'd for refusing to stay married to him or wait around to see whether he would decide to commit adultery or murder, in spite of the fact that he was locked up against his will in a mental institution by his doctor and a judge who ruled him a credible threat to my life. I often wonder if he visits my jw mom, you know, the same mother who shuns me.

Do ASL dubs recruit more aggressively than other dubs?

asl = american sign language for those who don't know.. i read a recent post on dubs knocking at doors and asking if anyone knew asl.. here's my experience.. .

i attended a jw sponsored asl course about 4 years ago in a neighboring congregation.

there were about 15 students in total.. the lesson was not to exceede 3 hours and afterwards we would go straight out into service.. the lessons were fun and we were given homework assignments to learn the various signs etc.

She would take a note of the "Deaf Child" signs and literally start asking the householders on the street where the "deaf child" lived.

If a stranger was questioning me about any child in my neighborhood, I would call the police and report them.

When responding to a police officer's question about jws on the silentlambs website, I said that jws aren't allowed to be police officers. But someone else posted and corrected me by saying that a jw who carries a gun as part of his job will not be disciplined for it but will not be made a ms or elder. When I lived in the D.C. area, I knew a brother who worked for the FBI. He was an agent but took a desk job to avoid carrying a gun, so he could be made a ms.

Shunning & JWs on Miami Ink TV Show

miami ink is a show about tattooing, it airs on u.s. cable channel tlc.

the show highlights the work of the tattoo artists and tells the background of why a person gets a particular tattoo.. on last week's show a young lady wanted what she referred to as a "conscience" tattoo.

when i heard "conscience" my ears perked up.

Women being in subjection...a sore subject

i was raised jw and of course the whole theory that a man is the head and the woman must respect her husband and be in subjection to his authority was ingrained in me from a young age.

my mother, (oddly enough) chose the jw religion, dragged my father in kicking and screaming (he later served as an elder for 17 years) and she complained constantly about men being in control and her pains as a woman in subjection.

now, i already have a good idea about my mother's problems.

Well, I studied as a teenager, and I fell for it hook, line and sinker. I really believed that a jw husband would love me as Christ loved the congregation. After attempted sexual abuse by my stepfather and physical abuse by my biological father, the thought of it was very attractive to me. But it turned out that my jw husband used his headship to abuse me in every way possible, and the elders not only went along with it but also blamed me for the abuse. "If you would just be a better wife..."

My current husband who has never been to church or read the Bible overheard a conversation between a friend and me about what the Bible says about headship. He told me that he didn't think he was good enough to be the head of our family and that since the Bible said he was the head that he had every right to make me be the head. After LMAO, I suggested we could be co-heads.

You know, the ironic thing is that I wouldn't mind living under his headship. He always thinks of me before anyone else and never makes a major decision without consulting me first. When money was tight in the past, he would've gone without and let me have, not only what I needed but I what I wanted. JW men would do well to look to him, (the big heathen that he is) for a good example of proper headship. When a man is a good husband, it makes it really difficult for a wife to be disrespectful or disloyal.

It ends with October 31st coming and going without Armageddon, the rapture or this asshole getting a new body. He set a new date for sometime in December 2007, which of course, nothing happened. I guess he failed to see the prophecy of him going to jail, because he was arrested in May for child molestation. Somebody in NM has some sense, I guess.

an elder mentioned yesterday in casual conversation how the end must be close 'because this is the first time in human history that a black man will probably be president of the us.

all other forms of government have had their day, now that a black man will be president, the angels, mankind and satan cannot claim that jehovah didn't give every possible chance for humans to make it without his rulership'.

So, Armageoddon is dependent on U.S. politics? Black men have been presidents in other countries and so have women. Talk about short sighted. I suppose the "new system" is only coming to the U.S.?

If Jw hate being a part of the world so much, why do they try...

when i was a witness i remember asking one of the elders if it would be alright to donate to different causes/charities like the american cancer society,st judes hospital etc.

he told me that these organizations only provide temporary relief whereas god kingdom would provide permanent relief.

) he was so down on these organizations but yet when he needed them for help he sure didnt hesitate to ask them.

The basic principal set forth by the WTB&TS is to take what is available but don't support anything other than the organization. If jws donate to worthy causes, they won't have money left to put in the contribution boxes or in their gas tanks for the meetings and cult recruiting service. Jws are brainwashed into thinking that the world owes them a living, because they are part of God's visible organization. It's the only thing they have to hang onto. They usually can't distinguish themselves in any other ways such as athletic or musical ability, and now it's looking like even scholarship outside of the organization is going to be stamped out.

Something you may not know about me ....

is that i am unreasonably terrified of dentists .......i am talking panic attack ready to happen kind of fear ....and well this weekend one of my molars broke .

i just made an appointment to see the doctor at 3pm .

it has been so long since my last visit they didn't even have any information current on me ....i think it has been at least seven yrs.

Have you been able to isolate the reason for the panic? I used to HATE going to the dentist due to a really bad gag reflex. An older lady who is a dental hygenist suggested that I find a spot to stare at while my teeth are being cleaned or fixed. I did it, and it really works!

sorry for yet another thread about the college issue.

i've been stewing on it though and it occurs to me that it's possible that eventually the college education issue can become a df'ing offense in the hands of the right elders.. the gb purposely writes these vague recommendations to the boes that leave r&f jws vulnerable to the individual interpretation of the elders.

a liberal elder might look at it as just a suggestion and the decision would be up to the individual, whereas a hardliner elder may try to witchhunt jws either going to college, or, who have already gone.. i personally know of a few who would take the hardline approach.

I don't think you are too far off of the mark. I would imagine that an elder or ms attending college or cooperating with his children to do the same will eventually result in the very least the type of marking that occurs when a jw child is forced to accept a blood transfusion by the courts or an umb. My jw aunt had a son who received a blood transfusion as the result of her unbelieving husband signing the papers to give permission (the court was going to intercede anyhow) about 30 years ago. She really is a hardcore dub, but to this day, it seems to me that she isn't accepted in the congregation. She's never been one of the popular ones and has been in trouble for even the most nominal communication with her df'd kids. One of her df'd sons takes care of her house and property, yet from what I've heard, she's been counseled about seeing him on a regular basis when he's there to take care of business. She was also turned in by her own jw "fleshly" sister, (my mom) for allowing her df'd kids to attend a wake at her house for her unbelieving brother. Personally, she is a very nice lady, and she REALLY believes in the WTB&TS, yet the only thing I can think of that would cause her not to be one of the popular ones is the blood issue, (which wasn't her fault).
