JW's 'put off living'
by Lady Viola ini was reading a book and read the following quote:.
"one of the most tragic things i know about human nature is.
that all of us tend to put off living.

My jw mom was in her 30's before becoming a jw, so she already had kids and was on her third marriage. Even so, she has no family life with her kids or siblings, (even the two who are jw). From what I hear, she's isolated herself with a few select jw friends, two of which are a nephew and his wife who are close to her in age. It's really very sad, because she could be grandma and great grandma to my brother's and my stepkids and their children.

I'm in NE Ohio three miles off of the turnpike between Cleveland and Youngstown. You and your pup are welcome to stay in our old camper, (electric but no water), or you can stay in our spare room as long as you can tolerate cats and cigarette smoke. The dog, though, would have to sleep in the camper or garage, because our cats would probably kill and eat him, LOL!!!
We're not fancy, but we have a clean, comfortable home, and I'm a decent cook. My husband does prtty well on the grill too.
My brother lives in NW Maryland and loves to ride his motorcycle. He may want to accompany you for part of your trip if you're in that area.

Welcome Tabitha!
Welcome Tabitha. I also go to a Unitarian Universalist church, but I don't believe. They are just wonderful people and a good community, and don't concern themselves with what I believe or not.
New Chapter, are you certain you're attending a UU church and not just a Unitarian one?

as im sure it is with most of us that were raised in the religion, our contact with wordly people was kept to a minimum.. my parents moved away from their non witness family, to a city about half an hour away.

You need to look at the whole of a person and not just dimensions of their personalities. Just because a person drinks, smokes and/or swears, that doesn't make him/her a bad person. Is the person compassionate, considerate, friendly, and kind? Those are the things you should be looking for in a friend, and those are the things that you should have to be a friend.

Those who still show up at the meetings, How do you manage?.
by Mr Facts infor those who still show up at the meetings, how do you manage?.
do you still offer comments and how do you actually muster up the boldness to gave talks and still do all of those craps?..
.

I can't even read the Watchtower drivel without having a panic attack, so good on you for those who can actually attend meetings! I would've loved to have the opportunity to try to get my family out, but unfortunately I was running for my life.
For those who don't comment and get the "missed your comment" type of encouragement, why not respond by saying, "Well, you must not have been paying attention!"? LOL!!!!!!!!!

Fight on for your freedom and happiness....
by Lozhasleft insome recent threads have touched me emotionally and prompted me to reflect.
when i think back to when i joined this forum, i was still struggling to come to terms with such a lot of pain.
it has definitely been a journey, but there is so much i've come to terms with.

Easter
by finally awake ini just bought easter baskets for my kids.
this will be the first year that they get to color eggs and have easter baskets.
i may even take them to the town easter egg hunt..
-
jamiebowers
I'm glad to hear it! Easter is so much fun with the egg hunts and watching the kids get their treats out of their baskets. We put books, novelties, and smal toys as well as candy in them.
