My new neighbor was raised a JW and still feels guilt...what do I share?
by megsmomma ini need some help with what to share with my new neighbor.
my hubby and i were talking to her yesterday when they realised they went to the same school and knew some of the same people.
she mentioned one guy my husband knew and said she went to the same chuch as he did and then she said "he was a jw"..so i asked her if she was, and she said she was raised as one.

Can you find out why her sister was df'd? That may be a good place to start.

Did anyone get told that they 'think about things too much'?
by jambon1 inin the very early days of my explaining to certain witnesses my doubts, i kind of ran through all of them.
they probobly merged into one big hodge-podge of apostate doubting nonsense.
- the nephilim penis size, the animals in the ark, the she bears killing the kids, davids baby being killed by god for his adultery, jesus sacrifice not really being a sacrifice, the torture of jw's in the camps, appointment of elders, the changing doctrines.........but more than a few elders/rank & file witnesses told me that i "think about stuff too much".

Nephilim penis size?
Ok, I'm with Lady Zombie on this one. What were the discussions surrounding this little tidbit, and what scriptures were used to support it?

I think this story has a great deal to say. If it makes you feel any better, here's the experience another exjw had at the assembly. It's in three parts:

It dawned on me just this morning that if the federal government kept track of how many exjws are diagnosed with PTSD and similar mental illnesses, that they would go after religious cults like the WTB&TS. It has to be costing the healthcare system a ton of money. They've gone after the tobacco companies for all the of the healthcare paid for smoking related illnesses by Medicare and Medicaid.

Saturday's Conference Call
by worf indid anyone hear this past saturday's conference call with rick?.
one of his guests brought out how back in 1989 the wt was considering whether or not they should disfellowship those in the congregations who were overweight!
their rationale for this was that since smoking was already a disfellowshipping offense and since smoking is bad for your health, being overweight is also bad for your health, therefore should it be made into a disfellowshipping offense.

Hey, Worf. It was nice to hear your voice on the conference call, and your experience was very interesting. And, yes, I thought it rather strange when Dick related the voting on whether to df fat people. How I wish they would've passed that measure, because my mom would've never studied with the jws had they done so. This past spring, I think it was, someone posted about a talk given at the assembly about bringing glory to God even in what you eat and drink and dissing fat people. Now that kind of stuff scares me, because my mom is so firmly entrenched that she'll probably starve herself to death to please the FDS.

well, children are mature enough to take a stand in behalf of the kingdom
by aligot ripounsous ini heard this morning the "who will be saved (n 126) " public talk.
the speaker raised the point of age baptism and he confirmed what has been pointed out a couple of times on this board, namely that, according to a trend which seems to be fairly recent within the wts, people don't have to be adults to decide they want to become jws and get baptism.
the only two examples which the speaker selected were 2 children : manaseh who, at age 12, promoted idolatry, and king yoshia who restored jehovah's worship as soon as he came to power at age 8 !

The fact that the powers that be in the cult insist that celebrating birthdays are bad, because the Bible only has two stories about such, and each are negative, but yet refuse to glean the fact that John and Jesus were adults when baptized, just proves to me that they don't give a damn what the Bible says. If they only allowed baptism at age 30, they wouldn't have an organization. If two-thirds of the people who were raised as jws leave, how many 30-year old would be left to take the plunge?

Being shunned by JW's who you know have done worse than you
by milligal inokay-here's one i was thinking about the other day-after reading some of your posts.
have you ever been shunned by a jw who you know was doing (or had done) some really devious things?
for instance when i was df'd the first person to give me the five minute long evil eye at the grocery store was a sister who had five children by two different fathers and a sixth child who was molotto (she was white) and she insisted that she had no idea why he came out so dark skinned.....she was never df'd.

Since I was running for my life, my exhusband never had the opportunity to shun me, but there are many, my mother included who shuns me even though she knows that I was physically abused and my life was threatened by him. He is still a jw in good standing from what I hear. I often wonder if she shuns him when she sees him. They live in different states, but I'm certain she sees him when he comes home to visit his mother. As a matter of fact, he attended my mother's congregation not long after our divorce. Also I watched a brother who shunned the girl he raped. He was privately reproved, and she was df'd. The more I think about it, the more this cult sounds more and more evil.
